The way those of us who read the books experienced a double shock (the battle *actually* happening before our eyes…but then *actually* not having happened). After the initial shock wore off, I think it was a brilliant twist/move. And I absolutely love watching peoples reaction to the battle scene.

The dads were the secret heartthrobs for my friend group lol. It was less "Edward vs Jacob" and more "Charlie vs Carlisle". While Carlisle is nice and I think a little more attractive, I have to pick Charlie just for his sense of humor. That scene in the first movie (iirc) when Bella is going to bring Edward in and Charlie closes the barrel on his shotgun saying "Alright, bring him in" always cracks me up. But imagine if Bella had had a boy, Jacob stuff aside. The name... Charlisle, or Carlie. lol

If you think about it, Carlisle dying first makes a lot of sense. All the vamps who gathered were doing it FOR Carlisle. None of them really knew Bella or Edward. Carlisle had been around the longest, traveled the world, and made lasting impressions on all the vampires he befriended. So for him to die first was essentially the spark that convinced all of them to 'go to arms'.

So the cgi baby.. was actually the _better_ version of Resume. In the books she’s described as a baby who has an adult-like aura and was born with “perfect square teeth”(nightmare fuel). So they made a puppet version that the actors controlled. It weighed ~50lb and was really uncomfortable. It was also SO disturbing they had to erase it in post and replaced it with the terrible cgi baby. Google the Renesme puppet and you’ll see what I mean. It’s kept in the Forks Twilight museum today. Apparently it’s haunted 😂

She was not described as having the face of an adult woman. It says the way she examined Bella was adult- like and that she was more aware and intelligent than a two day old baby would be. Her physical description is still of a child but Bella says she looks two months old instead of two days.

Fun fact: Michael Sheen’s performance as Aro is what lead to him being cast as the angel Aziraphale in Good Omens! In an interview for the movie he defended the fantasy genre, mentioning Neil Gaiman as a particular favorite author of his. This lead to them becoming friends, and when the Good Omens show began production he was originally considered to play the demon Crowley. However, he was deemed “too nice” and cast as Aziraphale the bookworm angel instead. It’s so interesting how many domino effects these books caused.

In the books they say as long as Jake keeps shifting he won't age anymore, giving Reness time to catch up physically. Just how the original chief in the past dealt with the first vampires they encountered, he was already on his third wife (the one who cut her arm to distract the female vamp). If I'm remembering right, he went on to stop shifting and live the rest of a normal length life out with her. Something like that.

I still believe that they could've just used a baby with similar features to the young girl actress. It's not like it's never been done before showing someone as a baby in a movie. What they were going to do and what they did were both bad options. I think they were just so caught up in how bad the first one was until it was too late that they didn't have time to change the scenes to use a real baby, which would've had to do deliberate things like the hand to the face.

I will occasionally go throughout my day and randomly wonder to myself, 'When is Reel-Time going to finish their twilight saga reactions', and the day is finally here. As someone who was a die-hard Twilight fan back in the day, I think I will always be loyal to Team Edward because of the books, not sure if the character translates quite as well to the movie adaptations but I was definitely happy to see Bryce land on team Edward at the end! I really enjoyed following along with your reaction to these movies and appreciate that you took the time to finish the saga and take it seriously even though the story can be pretty unserious at some points.

Man, I remember being so mad my favorite characters were dying, on the verge of tears, than being REALLY mad I was tricked. And yeah, that line of Jacob to Edward was so messed up, even as a Team Jacob fan, I was like, "Couldn't they have left that part out of the movies?" And by then I read all the books and so I know what imprinting means but I still thought that they should've explained it better in the movies or at least kept stuff out it. I think people would've been on board more if they kept it as a protection measure. I still hold the opinion Stephanie Meyers did Jacob dirty in the books. You don't make one your main love interests better by making the other one a total creep.🤢

Yeah.... the baby was described in the book as having the appearance of a baby but with the intelligence, awareness, coordination, etc. of someone much older, in an almost otherworldy way. And as someone else said, they initially did a puppet that had an adult looking face but it was even creepier than what they ended up with. And with the imprinting, it's meant to be akin to soulmates, and they go into a bit more detail in the book that it does sometimes happen with this much of an age gap but that it will be a relationship that eventually evolves, that they're "whatever they need them to be", an older brother, a protector, and eventually a lover. The book does explore a bit more the ethical dilemna about whether the person imprinted on has a choice, but the way they sort of explain it is that it's more like the wolf only imprints on someone who will feel the same way. Still creepy though.
@madih4586
@madih4586 2 ай бұрын
The relationship evolving would invlolve grooming. Even if he were to move away until she was an adult it would still be wrong. There is no defence for imprinting on a baby and getting with her when she's finally legal. It's disgusting.

You are right. Marcus, the volturi leader who said "finally", wanted to die. His wife/mate was murdered by Aro so that they wouldn't elope and leave the coven. In an effort to maintain power, Aro killed her and Marcus doesn't know it was him. And he doesn't want to live without her but Aro won't let him die. Just a reminder. The final montage is also cute because it’s the first time Bella let down her shield with Edward. She finally let her walls come down for a bit and that’s what she wanted to show him. Which adds just more emotion and importance to it. Saw a girl explain it on the KZbin clip Thought I’d share

Yeah, it was better explained in the books. But that's obvious, because the books are first person from Bella's perspective, so we read her thinking that she wants to turn off her power to let Edward see. Because Edward did have some insecurities in not being able to read her mind about how committed she was to him and being a vampire when he was so used to being able to on everyone else for a century.

The CGI baby even had the twilight fans confused. They were gonna use a super creepy puppet at first. The point of Renesmes is that she ages super fast. So as a newborn, she's got a full set of teeth and is way more aware than she should be. But instead of using like a toddler they used a CGI baby. They didn't even make the baby act or look like it did in the book. So there was no point at all to use CGI.

In the book, Bella's thoughts tell us that the reason she took Emmett as well when she was bringing Renesmee to meet Aro was because he would "be dying to go"; unsaid, I think also because Emmett is often stated throughout the books to be the strongest of the Cullens, and therefore she brought him as a failsafe to protect Renesmee in case Aro tricked them and tried to attack her.

I don't know how everyone just missed in the imprint scene the fact that Jacob said that he would be whatever she wanted him to be - brother, friend, protector. He didn't originally mean romantically, but it is implied that if she wanted to be with him in the future romantically, he would be with her. And yeah love your reaction as always

That’s how I wish people saw it but I know how it looks if you don’t try and understand the situation. It’s literally not Jacob’s fault, he didn’t know this would happen. When he imprinted on the baby he didn’t have any sexual feelings for her. He just instantly developed a protective connection and that’s how it started. The part that everyone gets disgusted by is the fact that the relationship between them can possibly later on become romantic. Which I get why people are disgusted, it looks that way because she’s still a baby/kid. I personally don’t think Jacob has any sexual feelings for her while she’s a child. I do believe he will possibly develop those romantic/sexual feelings for her when she’s an adult. The fact that she’s started off as a baby/child and he was already a grown man is what makes the situation look like Jacob is a groomer.

If they are special, then the wolf will imprint. It sucks that it can be a child, I’m not agreeing with what Jacob did. I’m just saying, it’s partially not his fault because it’s a wolfs instinct to imprint on someone special to them. No matter who it is it won’t stop because of age. I see your point on it being disgusting because it is. I’m just trying to look at it from Jacob’s point of view. The act itself isn’t ok since it’s on a child, but if you think about it, it’s a wolfs nature to do this no matter the age of the person. AGAIN I do NOT agree with this action just the fact that it’s their nature to imprint no matter age.

It's not explained in the movies, but in the books, the wolves are as immortal as the vampires as long as they continue to shift. So, it's kind of like with the vampires. Edward is 100 and Bella is 18 but the age difference doesn't matter because they are not going to physically age any more and they're only a year apart by physical age. I still think it's kind of creepy, but knowing that Jacob won't actually age makes it a little better. There was supposed to be another book, but someone released a rough draft and the author got angry and decided that she's never going to continue the series.

When you think about it, Jacob and Nessie only have an 18 year (?) age gap, compared to like 80-something for Edward and Bella. Obviously it's stil creepy as hell, but Renesmee is said to have an adult mind from the beginning and they don't get in a romantic relationship until she's older and looks like an adult. Now I'm not saying that isn't creepy, I'm moreso saying I don't understand how people don't find Edward more creepy than they do.

I remember reading the last book right when it came out and getting to the end and there was like 2 paragraphs about her vision, it felt like such a cop out. Then watching it in theaters on opening night wishing they’d change the ending, but not expecting them to since up to this point they were very loyal to the books. People literally screamed when Carlyle dies and full on yelling/cheering through the whole fight sequence to find out we were just watching Alice’s vision. That movie took those 2 paragraphs and turned it into the craziest movie theater experience of my life (slow clap) genius.
