100%! Every high school health class (at the latest) in the nation should set aside a day to learn and get CPR certified!

You also don't have to be a doctor to use an AED. They are designed to be user-friendly.

Aeds need to be in every building on every street. Cardiac incidents like this without sufficient access to and AED are almost guaranteed to lead to death unless bystanders or family knows cpr

He wants to return to being a referee, but I don't think that's a good idea. He suffered a massive heart attack. He should be thinking about retirement.

Thank You lord! Get back in shape. Doesn’t matter about the heart history just take it slow and exercise and eat a ton of veggies. Stay away from sugar. Maybe a cheat day once every two months but NOT weekly. Sugars affect stays in the body up to 6 weeks

Hmm not to be 'that guy/girl' but if someone was in cardiac arrest, they are not being brought back with an AED. Cardiac arrest literally means the heart is not beating. However, it is possible he was in cardiac arrest, got a pulse back but it was an arrhythmia like ventricular fibrillation in which case an AED does help, that would make sense. More likely he passed out because he went into an arrhythmia, not actual cardiac arrest and was brought back with the AED. But either way you can not shock asystole (no heartbeat).
@benjamin36153 жыл бұрын
Yes, they can be. Cardiac arrest does not mean the heart is not beating, it means the heart is failing to pump the needed blood to circle O2 and remove wastes, due to the heart's electrical system malfunctioning. You're right that you cannot shock asystole, but you can shock a victim in cardiac arrest depending on their arrhythmia. I've seen it and done it more times that I can count.

Cardiac arrest is a weird term. It describes pulselessness, not an absence of electrical or physical activity. VFib and VTach are still cardiac arrest.
