Refilling CANON IPF Pro 1000's PFI 1000 Carts is finally being done and in this video I cover the two basic and most reliable methods to do fill these carts.
If you purchase the Auto Reset Chips the somewhat tedious chip replacement only has to be done once!
You can use the recommended PC Signature Edition ink set or your own choice of inks as well is you can, OEM from bulk 700ml Carts as I show here.

Mr Jose. Have you used how many different brands to refill the canon pro 1000 ink carts? Did you find any significant difference between them? I live in Brazil and we have couple ink companies here, but I'm not sure if I would trust them. I saw on the ebay the brand "Injekt ink" is this one good?

Hi, Rodriguez. I run a studio in Korea. After watching the video, I take pro2000 ink and put it in the pro1000 cartridge. It was okay when I first used it, but suddenly the PC color and pbk are not recognized. Is it a chip problem? I didn't buy a cartridge separately and used the original cartridge. I'm using the co color without ink monitoring, but I wonder why pc and pbk can't. Thank you for the good video

the printer is not daft it records you have put a none canon chip in which then voids your warranty, also if you then need to get it repaired you will have to have everything replaced that the ink has come into contact with because canon do not have data sheets on none genuine inks, do at your own risk and cost..

Hi Jose, Great and informative videos in youtube. I'm thinking of buying the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer the only thing holding me back has been the price of the ink set, but with your video I see that I will be able to refill it myself and save some money. I'm more of hobbyist than professional, but I do like being able to print in a larger size which is my mine reason for looking at this printer. I have several questions, hopefully you can answer them in regards to replacing the printer ink. My first question is do I need to replace the chip set each time I replace the ink? Also what is the difference between the precision color inks and the premium inks, I saw the link on your videos. Do I have to use the premium inks all the time? I saw in one of your videos that you use the color optimizer from premium inks and the other ink from precision inks. Are both inks archival inks?

You have two choices for chips. Single use chips and auto reset chips. Single use are $15 and yes you have to d place each time Auto reset area $25 and you never have to replace they reset when they reached empty. You must use OEM red yellow and blue which they sell in bulk. You could add OEM chroma optimizer and photo black on your own if you wish. I add OEM Magenta as well. The best way is all OEM the second best is using the 9 PC plus 3 OEM colors and auto reset chips. I get my OEM inks in 700 ml carts to aspirate inks for refilling the 80 ml PRO1000 carts. I use 100% OEM but I will be testing the PC 9 PC / 3 OEM kit. The pro1000 runs a lot of maintenance so think hard about getting that printer and be ready to commit to print large prints on a daily basis to minimize the frequency of the cleaning / maintenance cycles.

Hey Jose! Thanks for the video! I found your videos because I was searching for alternatives to paying 650 bucks to refill my Pro-1000 every month. I am a photographer who uses my Pro-1000 to deliver product for my wedding clients, as well as high volume printing for schools etc. My question for you is in regards to the Precision Color inks that you linked to. Are they on par with the OEM Lucia inks that Canon provides? Also... Is there any way that Canon would be able to detect I was running non-OEM ink in my printer if my printer needed to be serviced for any reason??? I am of course looking at trying to save money, but not at the cost of reduced print quality, or the risk of damaging my printer or the serviceability of my printer. Thanks again for your videos, and of course for your time! Regards, Brad

PC makes you use OEM Red Blue and Yellow and ChromaOptimizer so that should answer your question. No Third Party inks will even come close to OEM! Will CANON Know you are using Single use or Auto Reset Chips? Of course. The iD codes are recorded in the firmware and the printer's internal memory

Going to pick up a what appears to be lightly used IPF Pro 1000 found locally on craigslist. Being that i have the opportunity to look at it live and see it print, what in particular should I look for or request printed as a health check. New to your channel so if there's a video where you've answered please point me there. Thank so much for putting all this together, really made the jump into this so much easier, and with realistic expectation of use and ownership.

Check it internally. It should clean. Print a nozzle check. It needs to be 100%. But most importantly make sure when you transport it kept absolutely flat. You cannot tilt it more than 5 degrees. Then when you get home make sure you place it at the area where you plan it to be for the life of the printer. Make sure that the table surface is level if you fail to do that you will have ink leaking out of the internal compartments and believe me you do not want that. Also make sure order a few maintenance cartridges. And welcome the most high maintenance "girl" you ever dated.

Hi Joe - I am nearly ready to refill a couple of Pro 1000 carts with PC Special Edition inks. Am I correct in thinking that I should wait until the printer says "empty" before inserting the new chip and refilling the ink. I know it must be empty before I fill it with PC's 82 ml bottles or in will spurt out. We cannot fill the carts before empty, since we cannot see the ink as we can in say a PCi 42 cart. Thanks. Thanks for another great video, Jose. How do you clean the syringes? Do you have to pull the plunger out or do you aspirate/eject, aspirate/eject? What do you use to clean with? Many solvents would destroy the silicon black tip of the plunger of the syringe. What is the gauge of the blunt needle you use as an airport? Finally, if you are using the Canon cartridge and the software reads it as "genuine" then if service is required under warranty, Canon would have no way of knowing you are not using OEM ink, correct? Or would the replaced chip indicate non OEM inks were used? Thanks again

Hi Jose, I have to stick with OEM only (selling prints) but I would like to refill with OEM. The 700ml cartridges are too expensive for me, but what do you think about using Pro1000 cartridges in my Pro300? The cost per mL is less than pro300 cartridges and I’d like to reduce the number of purge cycles as you suggested. Would the process be similar to what you did with the 700ml? I was trying to find a video of you extracting ink from pro1000 rather than refilling it so I can see how to do it.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 3 жыл бұрын
Pro1000 carts do not vent. So if you suck ink out you create a vacuum you have to very carefully relieve. You are better off buying small carts for the PRO2000. they use two ports. One for ink and one to vent. You don't need to buy 700ml. You can go smaller 330ml ones.

Hi Jose, I am just curious about something. I am not going to do this, because I wait until the cart is declared empty before I refill it. But, what if a Pro 1000 cart was 50% full and you removed the cart, then weighed it and calculated how much ink is needed compared to a new cart (about 115g), with a PC ARC chip already installed and filled it up. Would the printer recognize it as full?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 жыл бұрын
NO. It will still read at the level it was at. The chip must reach fully empty before it will reset back to full. You must remove the cart and re install to trigger the reset. Not any sooner than that.

No idea. Impossible to answer. Ink colors are never used at the same rate. One cart will reach empty while others may be at half full. You will use aproximately 4-6 TOTAL ml of ink per print of that size. IF it's from a normal density image containing ALL colors. Otherwise it will vary greatly. So it is impossible to answer.

@cheo1949

They do not reset. Either China fooled the world OR CANON wised up and immediately updated ALL the PRO-1000 with anti ARC Firmware! Single use chips are the only option or Disabling ink monitoring and then carefully keeping track of your physical ink use and constantly replenishing the carts to insure they never physically run out of ink. That would be disastrous.

Hi Jose, 2 questions today regarding refilling the beast lol. #1 in inkowl's refilling video they state that after replacing the refilled cartridge ( even OEM with there chips) you press in the stop button for 10 seconds and it let's you ( reset of a sort )continue printing but your printer still shows that colour is empty, have you tried it and does it work? #2 what printer is the big 700ml cartridge from the pro 2000/4000/6000 or PFI 5000 or will it mater as long as it is Lucia ink?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 жыл бұрын
It's called disabling ink monitoring. We've been doing it for many years before reseters were available. The 700ml carts are for the 2000-4000-6000 only. The ink however is the same as used in the PRO100). So you can harvest the inks for refilling PRO1000 carts.

Hmmmm. Totally different ink exit ports. The method I and PC demonstrated is only for the single port Carts for the PRO-1000! Your carts have a double port and have to be approached differently. What I propose to do is to use two needles there is a vent hole which is the one closest to the center and the ink exit port is the one closest to the edge. Watch the video I did on extracting inks from the PFI1700 carts and reverse the process. Another, although more drastic method is VERY carefully drill a 5/32" diameter hole in the rear of the cartridge and install a CANON refill plug yo can get from PC! The carts a re not pressurized and sit installed with the rear end facing up so this will easily work! I did a video on that as well for the PRO-2000 except I used a larger hole and silicone plug!

@cheo1949

I wouldn't. They would have to have sent me some. Besides, you can't test multiple types of inks on a printer like the pro1000. It would require you to completely empty out the printer every time you want to test a different inkset. If you were pushing out the remainder OEM inks, you would be throwing out about $300 worth of ink and fill two maintenance carts. So the answer is you would need separate printers loaded.with separate inksets. So that is not something any of us can handle.

Suspicious? Why? I have these carts and they are 100% OEM CANON PFI1700 carts. I would not have posted this had that not been the case. But you can believe or disbelieve if you want. Spend another $40-50 just so you get them in a original box. The Big Cartel Has access directly through CANON for Whole sale prices for these carts. But again, you can do whatever you think is best. PC is making NO money on the OEM Red-Blue-Yellow -CO it is offering and they do come from PFI1700 OEM carts which he buys and aspirates the inks from to sell in 82ml lots. You need 80ml to fully fill an empty cart.

No problem man. Believe me this is the real deal and I would not use them myself nor would PC be going through the total hassle of buying these carts, aspirate 82 ml per load just to provide you the user with the BEST option and still save you money. 700ml of OEM inks for $225 with free USA shipping. If you can find me a better deal let me know and I will immediately switch over.

Can anyone help me? I am looking for resettable chips for Canon PFI 1000 Cartridges which are for the PIXMA PROGAF PRO-1000 printer. My printer firmware version is 2.070 (I think this might be important) and I am hoping to find chips that will most likely work properly... I am having trouble finding the proper chips and have been reading very mixed reviews including right here on Jose's postings. If you have been successful in refilling your PRO-100 cartridges I would really appreciate your help. I'm also interested in which inks are the closest to the Canon OEM inks... Thank you.

There are no regrettable chips for the PRO1000. PC Signature Edition inks. They include 4 OEM inks in the pack.

I've not heard of anyone who have used ANY auto rest or so called permanent chips for the PRO1000 that actually work as claimed. They will work for one cycle and then no longer. Contact Ross Hardy at inkjetcarts. Tell him about me Jose Rodriguez. I used to buy and test their products. See if they would send me a set to fully test. I have plenty of empty carts to do a complete testing.

@@cheo1949 Happy New Year! I'm running out of ink and need to order chips and ink refills right away. I am happy to contact Ross Hardy but for now, can you please tell me which chips and inks are the best and where to buy them? I'm OK with single-use chips provided that my PRO-1000 will read them and accurately report on ink levels. I've read many reviews from others who had purchased lower-cost inks only to scrap them because they produced dreadful results. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thank you very much for your help and all that you do to help so many of us out here in "printerland"...

@@cheo1949 I sent an e-Mail to Ross Hardy as you requested... Because it is a holiday I suspect that it will take him a couple of days to get in touch with either or both of us... I hope he agrees to provide you with a full set of chips so you can test them... ~William

Hi Jose, HELP!!!!! Just got PC ink refills. The CO was out and GY,MBK, BK were low. I watched Mike Lees video on the refill, same instructions from you. I did it exactly to the tee the same. Had no problem filling the CO cart. Put the cart in and the printer went through its thing. The printer was down about 6 days waiting for the new ink from PC. After installing the cart the printer was making so many kinds of noises. I thought it was going to have a heart attack...lol. I took over half an hour than it said the BK was empty. I had a problem with the BK bottle from PC, it would not seal even after screwing the cap on tight 3 times but the fourth try worked. I lost a lot of ink! www.dropbox.com/preview/Prints%20to%20share/IMG-699abd301350949318ab3d23a90305f4-V%20(1).jpg?role=personal I put the cart in it then went through its thing for another 20 minutes then it said the CY and MBK were empty and so all my other levels went way down to! So I had to wait another 20 minutes or so than the printer said this: www.dropbox.com/preview/Prints%20to%20share/20180609_171701.jpg?role=personal All my chips were replaced with auto-refill chips! Then I get this meggings: www.dropbox.com/preview/Prints%20to%20share/20180609_171946.jpg?role=personal Then I see this message that all the refills have an X by them? www.dropbox.com/preview/Prints%20to%20share/20180609_172031.jpg?role=personal I can't tell you how pissed I am. I have not contacted Mike. I wanted to tell you first and to see what you have to say. And it says this about the CO cart! www.dropbox.com/preview/Prints%20to%20share/20180609_191238.jpg?role=personal Thanks, Jose Cliff Medina

I'll wait for your photo via email. I have a complete set of 12 carts chipped with ARC and successfully filled. I just got the empty notice for CO and replaced it and the printer accepted it as a Genuine Chroma Optimizer Cart and even show the cart's nomenclature. I've also randomly checked other carts just to see if there would be a recognition problem and there wasn't. Before you go and chew Mike's ass let me look into this. I will wait for the photos to show up on my email and see what I can come up with. This should not have happened. Also remember that you should let the carts go to complete empty, and then refill them as when declared low for the first time they still have almost 18ml of ink and is you try to inject 80 ml into it well, you will have a flood in your hands. When empty these carts. unlike others are actually fully empty.

Your pictures will never look as good if you refill with 3rd party ink. Don't do it. Canon will never sell their ink like this. I already checked the webpage and the producers of this ink already state the colors don't match OEM and are only close. Particularly the red. They can't reproduce vivid reds and dark contrast red.
