Andy, you have the best guests on! Rachel, you're going to be wonderful in OB/GYN. Andy, just as she said, you will climb out of that trough. God bless both of you and thank you for putting in what it takes to get where you are and where you will be, but don't self-destruct as you continue the process 😲. I do know it's quite tough at times to practice self-care, but it's really really important. Ironically, it takes just as much if not more discipline to tear away for a needed break from what's pressing in on you as it does to meet study/professional goals, but there are times when it's the most necessary thing you could do for yourself. Think of the irony of medical practitioners not making a point of taking good care of themselves. I believe it will make you better doctors because you will be more fully aware of and better able to advocate for what your patients need to be healthy whole people and you will be a model that they will respect and be encouraged and strengthened by. And I believe you will both be outstanding physicians that your patients will treasure and will not want to lose to burn out; the self-care habits that you build into your lives now will serve you and your patients well in the future. It sounds a little crazy to say force yourselves to take good care of yourselves, but please please do in those times when you're tempted not to.❤❤

On my match day, I was up front with my list of top places and said that anyone of them would be great. It's one of those moments when you are better off being generous to yourself and happy wherever you get. Not matching is infinitely worse than matching, except for a few instances.

This is so interesting as a first year undergrad who is dreaming of going to medical school. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but watching you both talk about the culmination of your studies is so inspiring. Thank you both!

I would definitely like to share my match day with the wonderful people that I shared the entire process with. I also wouldn't want to be conservative in my celebrating because of someone who didn't get the desired results. It definitely wouldn't be for the purpose of "flexing" but it is what it is. Life isn't fair and we all have to learn to cope.
