I was sad to see SI go, but honestly, this Reflections was better than any SI episode i could have dreamed of. some of the best moments in SI were when Monte/Thorin would digress into culture/philosophy/life topics for a few minutes and I'd think "hey, I'd totally listen to them talk about this for an entire show."

Have to note that - yes - my husband and I are in our mid to late 30s and loved Summoning Insight. We're also that key demographic everyone wants access to that gets zero advertising because we stopped watching cable television and have KZbin Red. I think I basically watch maybe 1-2 ads a month. I have no idea why Riot always wants eSports to look like the NFL. Almost no one at the company watches football. Only the people in their 30s and older did and even then it wasn't talked about often, if at all. It's a lack of understanding of the eSports audience as well as just the millennial and younger generations that really detest over-produced nonsense. Though I do love OGN's production but in an ironic way because it makes me think of the teams as boy bands battling on the Rift (even Goong had his groupies in the audience). At least OGN has a style and look they're trying to accomplish while Riot often looks like it's trying too hard to be something it's not.

hey Thorin and MonteCristo, I am Korean American living in LA, and I am interested in the occult as well. I knew both of you guys for awhile, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out you guys were interested in the occult too. (Not from this video, but from some of your other videos.) You guys are really interesting to me, and I was sad that Monte Cristo is not working in league OR OGN anymore. Yet I'll be looking forward to both of your future works, please give us more interesting tidbits about yourselves.
@rayaqin7 жыл бұрын
why do you think Monte is interested in the occult? I know Monte as a rational man.
@thefreed7 жыл бұрын
I think the occult can be very rational in some sense. It can be intuitively rational... but it depends on the type of occultism I think... Jungian psychology, alchemy and stuffs like this can be very logical in some SENSES! there's a lot of philosophy to be had here... I kind of felt that Thooorin and Monte Cristo emit a very different aura of themselves compared to other people who work in this scene and it's very interesting that we have similar interests... Which is what makes me like them more :P.

As a 27 year old, I never post on reddit, I don't care too much for the drama. I enjoy these talks and I respect monte for leaving Lol. Riot needed to play fair and the casters deserve better pay, I really want them to join an all esports union or something. I love LCK and LPL is interesting to say the least. The LCS like how many koreans say the solo que at challenger level is really chaotic, people thinking they need to make huge play to win the game, they aren't patient enough and that's why korean is better they understand pick bans and macro better. I love the LCK style that echos Bobby Fischer where you squeeze your opponent and force them into a corner, it's not flashy it's methodical.

While Monte fancies himself Dantès, some might consider Thorin to be Mondego (Perhaps Moses can be Jacopo, barely present in the tale, but gets a greater role in the TV movie). I do wonder what wisdom Monte will leave us with as Thorin is bleeding out in the countryside. I'm sure we'll all be waiting in anticipation to see this tale play out on a modern stage.

when you actually get into the strategy of the game of football it really is intellectually stimulating... the good teams at least, literally have different alterations to their playbook each week depending on the team you play based on tendencies personnel etc. Couple of examples include blocking schemes for linemen depending on the defense you go against. If you are playing a team that has 3 down lineman and 4 linebackers the blocking scheme is completely different from 5 down lineman and 2 linebackers. Or if one of those linebackers is super aggressive. On the other side of the ball for example a team running an option or like my school ran a triple option its important to know who u are responsible for. if everyone went for the quarterback to tackle him then the running back would go for a touchdown every time. Another interesting example is we would play teams who would only run 1 specific play out of a specific formation that had a motion as the dead giveaway. As a defender you recognize this and because of the coaching and preparation you are able to relay what play they are about to run to your team. The look in someones eyes when they know that you know the play they are running is pretty classic. When your whole defense is echoing the play they are about to run. Ahh it was always hilarious. Even simple tendencies of a lineman that sits back in his stance on pass plays. something as simple as that. People that dont play it or have never played it dont understand how much intelligence that goes into it and how cerebral the game really is. I grew up as a kid trained to be a quarterback and be able to read defenses and what not. It somewhat sucked cuz i didnt have much of a childhood practicing, going to camps, training with pros and what not year round. But when you understand all the little nuances such as a quarterback looking off a defender it makes the game so much more enjoyable to watch.
