Service valves are found in many applications of an air conditioning and refrigeration system. Knowing the common valve positions is key to servicing and troublehooting.

Finally found a mechani. Can't explaining the valve function. Function just one. Thank you when you start from city one turn. The term is cracked to the port. Thank you for the video

I work in ammonia and they tell us don't loosen packing valves because it can start leaking ammonia out when you crack valve. Had it happen a bunch of times when packing loose. We just lubricate stem with some refrigerant oil and then cycle it.

Forgive me to say that most of this information is pretty obvious. The part you left out, and the information I need, how do these valves open and close - clockwise or counterclockwise? I only work on my own now, but I forget this every time. I need to mark it on the valve cap.
@HVACKnowItAll2 жыл бұрын
If they're back seated, it will turn clockwise to crack the valve.

So if I needed to add refrigerant I would need to back seat the valves, correct?
@HVACKnowItAll2 жыл бұрын
The valve should already be back seated. Yiu woukd need to crack them slightly

hey can you do a similar video on how to re-pack this king valve?
@HVACKnowItAll Жыл бұрын
This is not actually a king valve. King valves are positioned on the receiver outlet.

Should the valve "not" accessible to the compressor when front seated (you said it "is"). When front seated, the service valve opens to the connecting hose.
@hovh035 жыл бұрын
Maybe your setup is different
@Username-ng8jy2 жыл бұрын
Eh like 99.9999 percent of them when front seated kills flow to the hose port. Same when backseated. The middle is where the service port gets flow.

Is it true that ammonia valves should be either fully open or fully closed, otherwise valves are going to leak ??
@numanmirza9584 Жыл бұрын
Sir some people said don't open the packing gland before close the valve its right or rong we will close the packing gland or not

Sorry to bother u but we’re can I get the rubber piece that’s in front of the packing nut ? iv been using Teflon tape but it’s only working for bout few months then I would have to replace it
@HVACKnowItAll5 жыл бұрын
Your best bet is the compressor manufacturer, but you can use Nylog too
@chris349635 жыл бұрын
Iv been using teflon with nylog but I will ask the manufacture but any additional help will help me greatly
@HVACKnowItAll5 жыл бұрын
@@chris34963 With Nylog, you really don't need teflon tape. Good luck on traking those rubbers down, I rarely see them around any more.

My service valve (Carrier) does not have a lock nut. Instead, it has a sunk ring with two slots (wish could upload a picture), which may need a special tool to torque. Anyone know how to do? Thx!

To connect gauges, do you have the stem back seated?
@yomom8573 жыл бұрын
have it mid seated if you want to read pressures
@maggotthemadman81423 жыл бұрын
@@yomom857 or just cracked a single half turn, that is usually what I do.
@Username-ng8jy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah just crack it honestly towards front seat. If you charge or pull vacuum then full mid seat. But if you’re trying to read pressures. Just crack it.
