Thank you so much for sharing this information you've taught me something about the compressor on the mini fridge I just got from a friend. They said it wasn't working and that they have fixed it. However at 5 it's not getting cold enough and the refrigerator seems to be getting hot so I thought to take a look at the compressor and look on KZbin to see what was said about this refrigerator. The compressor has the three pins on the side not on the top it is protected by a box. It looks as though the wires have been chewed by something and it looks like I will soon be rewiring this compressor when I have the money. Hopefully this fixes my problem and I don't have to replace the whole compressor. For now working it just doesn't get very cold. At least I know it's a problem in the wiring back here. I wish I could take a picture to show you or send you some video.😂 I am worried because this compressor is very hot and so was the sides of the fridge. It looks like I'll be doing some work on this one. Thank you so much for being there.

Good morning Thank you in advance for the video. Individual things are explained nicely. Unfortunately, I can't understand some of it. Can I ask for an explanation (description from 4 minutes 19 seconds) of the entry on the left: C=R+S, R=Medium, S=Low. What measured values does this apply to (resistance, voltage). The description on the right side C+S=15.3 Ohm, C+R=16 Ohm, S+R=32 Ohm is super explained and clear. I just can't understand the description on the left. Regards

Live is called common, The run terminal is neutral and start is joint with run wire, but disconnects when the compressor takes soft start.

I’ve been doing refrigeration repairs for 47 years and I never heard of a weak winding. There either open winding. Shorted winding.( internally. ). or shorted to ground. and I call that a multimeter.

The weak winding means that the compressor starts fine and runs fine at the start, but 10-15 minutes later, the compressor heats up more than usual; sometimes, there can be electrical causes the compressor to heat up, but if the electricity is ok, the compressor still becomes so hot that it even trips the protecting thermostat, which stops the compressor. In the area where I am working, the people do not believe you when the compressor starts well and works for a few minutes. At that moment, we used the word "weak" to make them understand that the compressor is faulty.

The windings of the compressor on my Whirlpool Fridge (1999 model) are as follows: C--S = 6.1 Ohms C--R = 1.2 Ohms S--R = 7.2 Ohms. The freezer temperatures are: Settings Temp A (left, 10 O'Clock) 14F B (middle, 12 O'Clock) -2.7F (recommended setting) C (rigfht, 2 O'Clock) -17.4F My fridge is working fine currently. Based on your teaching, my compressor is bad because the C--R value is way below 3 Ohms than the C--S value or 5X lower?

The freezer compartment works fine, but the fridge compartment does not cool at all. So I tested the compressor in accordance with your informative guide. M-->C=17 S--->C=30 S--->M=48 I guess this means it's time to stick a pipe through the top and use the fridge as a wardrobe.

I'm assuming M is the same as R. If I were to rewrite this using your terminology: C + S= 30 ohms C + R =17 ohms S + R = 48 ohms Between C + S and C + R is a 13 ohm difference. That's bad, right?

I have a compressor that is from the 60s/70s just went bad motor nolonger starts (shorts out) but instead of a capacitor it has a inductor coil.. has the label m s l i believe its so worn its hard to tell😅 was for a dehumidifier. Thing drew so much water out of the air. Much different than todays which seem to last 5 years tops

Cool...now what color wires go to each terminal? I have a guy who installed a different compressor and the pins from the old unit to the new unit are swapped. The original compressor had the single pin at the top the "new to me" compressor has the single pin at the bottom. It appears to be that the red wire goes to the overload protector that goes onto the lone pin. then I'm left with a pink and light blue wire , that goes to the relay....what color wire goes to Start and/or what color wire goes to Run?

Yes, My R12 Freezer Compressor after 28.6 years of great services? But I have to replace it with an R12 or R600A Compressor, both are hard to find the BTU & LRA need to match! Common + start should always be greater then common and run. And c+s and C+r is the total , yes sir. The start winding is always greater. And even if your values are fine including the total and your compressor pulls 22 to 30 amps or trips the overload (lock rotor) . Its probably a mecanical probalem and not electrical. Cheers 🍻 👏 ✌️

That thing about compressors pin order is not a full true, for sure the start and run pins not always are located as you are saying in your video. Proof of that is for example de LG compresor model ND52LACH 115V/60hZ motor type CSR. In this case the commn pin wich you name as ( C ) is at the bottom but the Start Pin ( S ) is located at the top left and the Run pin ( R ) is located at the top right. So if yo conect that compresor according to your instructions, for sure you will blowup de compressor.
