REFURBISHING GOLF CLUBS WITH HOUSEHOLD MATERIALS! | PART 1

This is the perfect video for anybody wanting to improve the look of their old golf clubs by refurbishing them from home on a budget!
With my golf pro tips, you can improve your golf clubs to add value to them! All you will need is £30 and some elbow grease!
In today's video I am starting the refurbishment of my TITLEIST 690MB GOLF CLUBS which I bought off Facebook marketplace for £80!

Gaz, I clean my grips every week during the season as I play 4-5 times a week. Just remind people to NOT sink the grip into the water. You can get water into the shaft through the grip hole at the butt end of the grip. This will get inside the shaft and you can end up with rust down the shaft. You hit a shot and the clubhead goes flying off. Reshafting time.

i have Winn DriTac grips on my clubs. Can I clean them the same way? The material is a little different than what your club grips are?

I wash mine with dish soap and a toothbrush, but I don't have sweaty hands and do it after every round. We've got a product over in Canada called Goo Gone that strips residue beautifully.

Never used washing powder on my grip always washing liquid , thanks for the tip. I do know that washing powder is great for cleaning a burned Saucepan☺☺.. To clean grips and shafts I use Steel Wool grest for removing shaft pitting

The best way to clean grips is to use Lava soap. Take the bar and rub it on the grip, use a brush to scrub the grip, rinse and repeat on the other clubs!!

Hi gaz. Played 2 weeks ago in the rain. Got them out yesterday and noticed little spots of rust on all my shafts.any tips whats the best thing to use as I don't want to f#@k them up. Keep up the great work fella

I use Dawn liquid soap on mine about once a month. Dawn really cuts the oil and sweat

I’ve always used washing up liquid, and then followed by a wiping with a rag and rubbing alcohol for my grips, your saying washing powder is better?

Washing Powder for the grips. Interesting. I will try that next time. I use washing up liquid but scrub dry with a towel.

Morning Gaz. I always clean my grips, to start with, mix washing powder and neat fairy liquid together in to a paste. I then work the mixture in to the grip. Then Lather it up with water and nail brush. Finally wash it all off with fairy liquid and water 👌🏼. Makes iomic grips feel amazing

Give elbow grease a try (yellow spray) cleans up grips a treat and brings the tacky feel back

Hey Gary had this issue with shaft bands before . I have found peeling off plastic and the putting good quality cello tape makes them look as good as new. ( just cut tape to same size ) Great series 👍

Gary, I have that same set purchased from eBay in 2020. Those have the dot between the 690 and the MB which means they are 1/4" longer and one degree more upright. Also, the 690MB were manufactured in 2002 and the 690.MB were manufactured in 2005. Maybe you already knew this?

You should have a sit down with Robbo and teach him how to clean his clubs too Gaz! 😂 Also if one doesn't have white spirit available, zippo lighter fuel works a treat for taking off glue residue from shaft bands / price stickers etc.

I use Dawn dishwashing soup and Simple Green with blue scrubbing pads Hair dryer to warm up, helps loosen glue. Then WD40 or Goof Off removes any glue residue Bar keepers friend, blue scrubbing pad warm water. Mr Clean White scrubbing pads on woods

Thanks for the washing powder tip. I think I'd be inclined to leave the shaft bands on so that if you re sell the buyer would know they are matching shafts.

I use swafega orange with bits in it on my grips, I find that works well. I do soak the grips for a few minutes in the warn water, before scrubing them.
