Great video. I followed most of the steps he showed and cut my son's (6yrs) hair. We are both very happy with the outcome. (I didn't do as close a fade at the base - started with the 3 guard and then the two, and then just lined up the bottom). Thanks for the video!

personal notes - no. 3 for bulk reduction; good number to go past a standard occipital with. holding the ear down by pushing with your index finger, vs bending it. 35-37ish - way he cut the top; leave fringe longer on edge to slick back. he left the crown til later in his work, and he didn't layer it with the scissor over comb until he blowdried it. and when he did cut it he cut it minimal tension.

@amixeblu3 жыл бұрын
My dad has a crown in back too; super useful to see videos like this, because we have been trying to keep up with his hair since March 2020. We usually leave it a bit longer there, so it doesn't poke out. Barbers and hairdressers can open back up after Valentine weekend here in Belgium, but customers have to wait outside, it's by appointment only and it's on a per customer basis, with a 10 minute disinfectant session in between and (of course) masks. So my dad still isn't going!!! I think he secretly likes his home-cut and truth be told, this channel has taught us a whole lot for techniques and I am a fast fast learner and have always been fascinated with hair cutting. My mom has cut, colored and roller-set her hair since her early 40s, and she's 75 now. She has saved herself a brandnew car doing that. I mean, honestly, do the math. It is real, and if you are a bit "handy" yourself, you can do it *properly* but if you can't, then please don't!

Hey Dan, when you start your clipper over comb and elevate for your first cut, how can you tell where to make the next cut underneath? I struggle with that technique and find that part the most difficult to understand. Thanks! Really enjoy your videos.

I'm guessing s/he's new, and needs a bit more practice. There is absolutely no problem with that. I could still follow along quite fine! I did get a feeling they were wearing difficult foot wear, for some reason. And do keep the camera angled at the "work", always, when making turns don't take the "eye" off of the head.
@dstill34343 жыл бұрын
I think it’s just tough to keep the camera on the relevant part of the haircut considering the barber keeps moving. I didn’t think it was that bad. Not sure how you could do any better.

For doing the side-burns, I always look into the ear, where it ends (on a curve of the ear). No measuring with my finger. It's easier that way, and you can't mess it up.
@jaysub23673 жыл бұрын
Measuring with the fingers using the mirror accounts for asymmetrical facial features, i.e. one ear might be lower than the other ear.
