Steve R He was a mutt. Pitt Bull mixed with Boston Terrier. For some reason not a lot of people like Pitt Bulls. But Stubby was a Pitt Bull, the first dog in the White House was a Pitt Bull, and the American Pitt Bull Terrier used to be so popular that everyone had them and they were called the Nanny dog because they would watch over you're kids all day while you were at work. They are very protective of their families especially kids.

Stubby was a Boston Terrier. Face the music, you pit freaks. And for the love of pete, pit bulls were NEVER any type of "nanny dog". That "nanny dog" business is a dangerous MYTH so QUIT SPREADING IT. Pit bulls are the number one type of dog that will KILL A CHILD. They are also the number one type of dog to KILL an adult too.
@BlankestKnight6 жыл бұрын
CSWRB If by Pitt freaks you mean dog lovers who aren't prejudice towards specific breeds, then I'll gladly carry that title. Sgt Stubby was a mutt. Likely a Pitt Bull Mix, source: istilllovedogs.com/2018/04/15-fascinating-facts-about-sgt-stubby-most-decorated-war-dog/. Some sources do say he could have been a Brindle Bull Terrier Mix. But this is the first time I'm hearing of him being a Boston Terrier, but most sources confirm he was a Pitt Bull. I'm not going to be able to change your prejudices in a single comment, but even world renowned dog whisperer Cesar Millan has said in interviews and on his blog that Pitts are one of his favorite breeds and he explains why. Bottom line is that having a specific hatred towards any particular breed is stupid. All dogs can be aggressive just as all dogs can be trained. You claiming that all Pitts are aggressive makes as much sense as me claiming that all Chihuahuas are sweet and will never bite. A dogs behavior is dependent on many factors, to stay that all dogs of a specific breed will always act a specific way because of their breed is stupid. Please don't be ignorant.

Why make him look like a boxer? He was a pit bull mix. Or is that not suitable for a kids film? And before people say “He is a Boston terrier!” He is a pit bull mix, Boston terriers are actually in that line. They were used in dog fighting and come from the staffordshire, who is the granddad to most pit bull type dogs. Boston terrier isn’t the only breed stubby is. And yes, he is a pit bull mix.

I first read about Sgt. Stubby when I was a young child. I've been saying for nearly two decades that there needs to be a Sergeant Stubby movie made. When the film 'War Horse' came out, I thought to myself "Dammit Spielberg, you should have made 'War Dog' with Sergeant Stubby." War Horse was a great film, but a properly done live action Spielberg made film based on Sergeant Stubby, with excellent promotion, would have been an even bigger hit. Making this story into a child friendly animated film was an irrefutably poor decision. Sergeant Stubby's exploits should have been turned into a gritty, gut wrenching, live action PG-13 film with mass appeal. These knot heads turned an amazing and real WWI story, into a children's cartoon FFS. If it wasn't so moronic, it would be insulting. Another brilliant story squandered complete Dip-Shits...

I honestly don't think we had the right to take animals to the war. They are innocent... and doing that is cruel. And this kind of movies make it look like it's a positive thing.
@silvercat6476 жыл бұрын
Roberta, let me say I totally agree with you. I am against all those things, I actually mentioned the dog because, well, he is the "highlight" of this movie/trailer. Of course sending our men to war was absolutely cruel too. I am 100% against this. I think yes, people should go if that is their own will. But any other way, no living being deserved that. Thank you :)
@silvercat6476 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Roberta :) I understand what you mean. What I will say is my personal opinion. I personally am against it, you know, I think humans can do whatever, but just don't involve animals. I am ok with those dogs that are trained to sniff drugs, bombs, etc (because they can do that in a peaceful and safe way). But I just can't agree with the rest. And about animals comforting humans during the war, see, you are putting dogs in a completely hostile environment, taking the risk of being killed, suffering... and what did they do to deserve that? They didn't chose that. They are so loyal to us, and what we do is take advantage of that. I don't think that is a correct ethic. We can't just say - Ok, this is necessary - and do it. Because you are not talking about using a rock or a pen or a chair. You are talking about committing, let's say, a dog, which feels pain, joy, sadness, eats, yawns, sleeps... just like you and I do. They just don't talk and make logic thinking. And this makes me think that we are nothing to put them through those situations. Again, this is my personal opinion.
@ucap64866 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my personal opinion aside from both of yours is that the dogs they use are meant to work. They don't use those ugly pugs. They use real dogs like German Shepards and stuff like that. They need brain stimulation and physical activity to stay healthy. With all the training they go through, they are safe as they can be at war and they protect and serve our troops. I would rather have soldiers and dogs play in the barracks and go through some tough times as a team then have soldiers drink and go bad from loneliness. I think that it is sad that you worry more about the animals more than you do the human soldiers. Both are equally important on any level. They are just regular soldiers with a handlers. They both get top notch medical care as well as equipment to aid them in the field. Our boys and girls are holding down the fort just fine. I'd worry more about stopping the wars all together that way these meaningless conversations cease to exist. However, I would like to thank both of you for being respectful. You don't see that too often anymore. Both of you have a good night, now.

@@thedogfather7875 Its a true story about the heroism of an animal that saved lives instead of took them, meanwhile war horse was about a horse utilized as a weapon in the Calvary. One story is centered on a violent act (charging men down and killing them on horseback) the other is about minimizing the cost of war. In my view totally acceptable for children to learn about WW1 when half of the population has zero knowledge on the topic.

Question: Did the dog die in the film? If yes, I'm not watching it.

Too bad this was only a cartoon. It deserved to be a realistic movie, such as War Horse. Cartoons don't do the story of this dog, or the men in WWI justice. War is not meant to be a family fun filled adventure movie. The story of this dog tells itself; it happens to be about a war that nobody ever discusses, or brings up, that is why it should not have been animated. With hope, directors, producers, and Hollywood will have the courage to make WWI movies in the near future.
