Thank you so much for sharing this unfortunate animosity between these 2 great musicians. Every time I hear Burning Spear's albums such as MARCUS GARVEY and MAN IN THE HILLS, I am always captivated by Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace's background drumming.

Unfortunately these things do happen in the music world, rock, reggae, soul, RnB jazz, pop, many stories. Horsemouth is a great drummer. I have Burning Spear's Marcus Garvey album spinning and playing in the background, a definite classic, a musical treat, one I never tire of - Psalm 87:7 'As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee'. 🙏💪

I could not agree more. While... yes... I have seen Burning Spear live. And everyone who knows his live performances knows that he can "leave the track and the situation" for a time. This can work perfectly, especially if Spear is playing Nyabinghi drums. But maybe it got out of limits for once. And, agreed again... Everyone that pays attention to Spears interviews knows that he stands firm on what ever position he takes. A shame it ended this way! So, Horsemouth and Spear, remember. There are many fights, but only one peace

I’d heard of this falling out from other content but had never heard a real complete story to help me understand the situation. I certainly have had my own falling outs with different people in my past and though I don’t concern myself with finding resolutions, I wonder if those two will or not. So much good detail in such a concise video. I never pass up a chance to watch your latest posts.

Interesting history, I know that Burning Spear played with Monyaka in 1978 in USA tour, probably the beef between the two had already happen, and before this the two backing vocals let the group too, in 1977 for example on oficial album Live the drummer was Drummie Zeb Gaye from Aswad, but really I did not know about the struggle with Horsemouth, also I always wanted know who was the drummer in that legendary SS79 show that Bingy Bunny played guitar very young, if you know....Bless!

There has to be more to the story. Horsey getting vex because Spear did not sing in rehearsal is not a viable reason to get so upset and Spear tearing up the man's boot is way too much. I suspect Horsey was maybe just a little jealous of Spear's success by that point and felt that he was not getting a fair share form Spear. Keep the videos coming star.

The star should teach everyone as a human being an not berating MAN..eventually u get fed up..lastly Horsemouth stated..the star tore 1 of his boots because he played with 1 only when on drum...no matter who u are..no man better than the next
@ggilestate
@ggilestate Жыл бұрын
@@OloRishaCreole504 It could have been a teachable moment for Horse Mouth to recognize that Spear was the star AND his boss whether he was his friend or not. Spear was too upset to teach him and reacted in anger which was wrong but Horse Mouth would have been fired either way! Tearing his boot was wrong but that was anger showing it’s ugly head. To your point that no man is better than no man’ that maybe true but what is also true is that in life there is a food chain and if a person doesn’t know their place on that chain they will get eaten! You simply don’t stop a star who is your boss mid song and being upset tell him how to perform! Burning Spear was on the top on the food chain as he still is today that’s why he is being celebrated as one of the greats! So to that point…..he IS better than Horse Mouth. Horse Mouth is no Sly Dunbar he is only a drummer. A person has to be humble in this business to survive. When Peter Tosh cursed off Sly Dunbar for rolling the drum while he was talking to the crowd Sly and Robbie fired Peter Tosh and left him! That’s a higher level of talent working as they were on top of the creative food chain as well as Peter! Respect
