They are enjoying it ! Do you want them to jumping around with their phones out and taking Tik toks? Make it make sense. Choose one. Phones or having an audience to sit and appreciate incredible music

When your background singers are clapping to the notes you are hitting when they should be singing is a testament to how well she's singing this beautiful song.

@Kuklapolitan10 жыл бұрын
Good God...what a departure from the hit that was so very special and that so many tremendous artists covered. Regina Belle took the low road when she took to running scales in the middle of every beautiful note and lyric of this iconic song. She went with a trend that is still the demise of every beautifully crafted song on the market. Instead of doing some magical things with her voice for effect in a song....because she can do that...she pandered to the audience reaction to all the newer singers.way of singing It's an audience reaction that will surely wane when people come back to their senses and understand that scales and ridiculous riffs are there for practicing and honing your art and not finalizing it. It makes every song as boring as hell.

o·pin·ion əˈpinyən/Submit noun 1. a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. "I'm writing to voice my opinion on an issue of great importance" synonyms: belief, judgment, thought(s), (way of) thinking, mind, (point of) view, viewpoint, outlook, attitude, stance, position, perspective, persuasion, standpoint
@brianhankerson916910 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I thought the same thing about your comment. The problem is because you don't understand the culture behind the running of those scales (which she barely did, there were more trills than scales if any at all), you attack it as invalid. That's why there are more than one version. Listen to the version you like. And you should probably lay off the porn sites. That will help you to properly say dictionary and not just stop at some juvenile attempt at humor and save face. I'm sure there is a mirror somewhere near you look in it and find yourself.
@Kuklapolitan10 жыл бұрын
Brian Hankerson Save face? I have never found the need to save face and that certainly would hold true here considering your ilk. Whether you think my little play on words is funny or not is immaterial. Never having studied voice, you don't actually understand what trills are but I was not referring to her trilling technique. Her interpretation of this song borders on the annoying runs one might find in a half-baked Fitzgerald or even a Carey piece. Culture, little man, has so little to do with this piece that it's ludicrous to go there. Don't tell me I do not or cannot fathom the culture that spawned this style of singing! I do understand it and happen to adore Belle's voice and her culture and I do not negate or dismiss the piece as invalid! She is incredibly gifted and talented beyond belief but I cannot fathom why every song has to have that ethnic BS of over running the scales, and yes, even excess trilling, and making a 15 note exclamation point out of every fourth note in and on every song...past or present. No other artists do this and it is, at times, done to the detriment of the piece. There is a time, a place and songs for all techniques within the context of presentation and this one is only borderline objectionable...but for me, I want to hear this song in its original format because the words and the melody need no further punctuation. For ME, it detracts from what was one of the finest songs of the era and needs nothing further. Perfection cannot be improved upon...even if you don't think so or do not agree. When you listen to the original release you remain glued to your seat and find yourself enveloped in a myriad of emotional complexities. When you listen to this version you get up from your seat, applaud heavily and think...damn, she's so good...her voice is so rich, so fluid, so right on pitch and tone and she gave it her all...but you're not thinking about and have lost the impact of the story she has laid herself bare to. One is about the words and the music and the other about technique in presentation. Apples and oranges, I assure you.

Kuklapolitan To be totally honest, I didn't even read the entirety of what you posted. I may have made the same mistake that you have made. You underestimated me. I majored in music and have been Minister of music for several mega churches. I own a recording studio in Miami. I also play 5 different instruments and am a volunteering vocal coach at the school of the arts. As well, I am 6'2, 210 LBS. Not hardly a "little man". My picture looks youthful, but it was taken 7 years ago. Even then, I was in my thirties. You are not talking to a child or an ignorant cyber gangster. I will offer you time and place to discuss however you feel in person. However my post was in accordance to what you have a right to... your opinion. Mine differs. Are you upset that your words weren't taken as authority? Check yourself sir. and your little ego. You don't know who you may encounter because of it. There is a reason that I use my real name and real pictures of myself. I do not hide behind a keyboard. I have no reason to. I do have every reason to my opinion. As do you. Good day Kuklapolitan
