If you want to know how I got the 46,000 figure, if you own the very first need for speed game it shows the price tag for each of the 8 cars in the game. Dealers wanted to burn holes in customers wallets so that was the 90's JDM market craze

I have been a long time fan. I love watching your reviews when I am looking for a "regular" car. I have always wanted one of these. I found a 1 owner, 94 SVX for 2k. It sat for a year and a half before I found it. I threw a new battery in it and it fired right up. I spent today checking everything out and updating fluids. It is totally stock and was well kept. Other than the faded paint and the A/C belt missing (I found the replacement in the trunk) It is running like a dream. TIme will tell. I showed my Girlfriend this 2 part review and she said "I will never let you get rid of that car." Im gonna call it a win. Keep up the great work!

***** some guy down the road from me owns a SVX, and i own a first-gen talon (dsm). I always thought the same thing and it really surprised me when i looked closer and saw it was a subaru. If you wanna get technical about it it looks like a 92-94 talon, since the 89*-91 had pop up headlights. I found this out the hard way too, the 1990 and the 1990 alone has a different throttle body, they changed it from the 91-94, so i was kind of shit out of luck trying to find a 90 throttle body rebuild kit and ended up finding an o-ring that would fit in there in place of the actual factory one.

I had a pearl white one of these. I think the closest car comparison wise would be a more radical/weirder XJS or Soarer, definitely a grand tourer more than a track car. They were all auto only. Nerd shit: US models had a standard Subaru 4 speed auto like in the Liberty/Legacies with an electronic fwd biased centre-diff (90/10 f/r when cruising 50/50 under acceleration or slipping). In Australia and other markets we got the VTD (Variable Torque Distribution) transmission with a mechanical rwd biased planetary gear centre diff 35/65 f/r split and a viscous lsd on the rear. Something he didn't bring up was how much of a tank they are - 1600 kg/3500 lb kerb weight for a 2 door coupe, you don't really notice it when driving though, until it comes to stopping. They aren't a perfect car but have tons of character ( and the flat 6 sounds awesome), it was fun to see people stop in their tracks wondering what the hell. I'm definitely getting another one soon. Also, there's a guy here in Aus who takes his lifted one on vast cross outback treks..

This car is built so much better than almost any following car subaru built. I have a 92 (silver black roof leather interior, only 100 built) and Its so much more rugged chassis wise than my forester 10 years newer, 120+ mph with all the windows open and you won't get wet in a hurricane! Mine sat under a tarp for 3 years. It only needed SPARK PLUGS! And the old bastard broke every speed limit on the first test drive like it had never been shut off. Really under appreciated engineering. Oh, and a 05 wrx 5 speed is going in the place of the horrid autotragic as soon as possible. Oh, and we got the shity version, Japanese versions had 4 wheel steering and air suspension, and a twin turbo was in development for this motor but deadlines prevented the release in time, and poor sales cemented the fact that this car COULD have been a super car.
