Yes, my feet are the most painful part of my body. All shoes hurt me. I have tried toe alignments, copper arch shoe inserts, etc. They are not strong or stable (my feet). I will try these tips. I am on my feet all day. Have you heard of barefoot shoes? Do you think that would be better than something like Skechers or shoes that support your feet?😢
@RehabScience9 ай бұрын
I do know of barefoot shoes and they can help some people. Each person varies, so it’s best to experiment with different shoes until you find what works best for your situation and symptoms.

But we should also stretch it in another direction - so both extensors and flexors

Thank you for the video. My pediatrist suggested orthotics with reverse Morton's extension. Do you have any suggested modifications?

Hi Doctor, would these also help for sesamoiditis? What is your opinion on barefoot shoes? Thanks!
@RehabScience3 ай бұрын
Yes, these could also help with sesamoiditis. Barefoot shoes usually aren't a great option for this issue as they usually apply more stress to the sesamoid bones.

I had a cheilectomy two weeks ago. My gait is off; stride is shortened significantly. Your recommended exercises and info on how long to hold these positions are invaluable. Can you advise if these exercises are conducive to increased mobility post cheilectomy, are there specific exercises for post surgery patients?

I am still interested in buying your book. I have to pay my city taxes this month and I'm looking at an expensive car repair this weekend 😢. I am still waiting for my federal return. I'm a nanny and not rolling in 💰. I hope it continues to be half price! Thanks😊❤

Should you do these exercises if you already have pain and stiffness here? If yes, how far should you stretch? until it hurts, or let it hurt and hold stretch? Thank you.
@RehabScience5 ай бұрын
Yes, these can be used when you already have pain and stiffness. I would recommend stretching right up to the pain barrier or slightly into it and holding there. Pushing too far into the pain can flare the joint up and make one's baseline pain worse, so make sure not to push too far.

I had a big toe joint replacement 6 years ago, but it filled up almost immediately with arthritis and I have little movement in the joint when walking. Could these stretches benefit me still?
@RehabScience4 ай бұрын
They could help you gain some mobility back and decrease pain, but the changes in mobility this long after the joint replacement will likely be on the smaller side.

Are these big toe exercises good for runners as well? I am a competitive runner entering my 40s and have been experiencing discomfort in my right big toe joint. It has progressively worsened over several months now and is affecting my training. Been supplementing cardio with a lot of cycling lately. Thanks for any advice. **Note: Had left toe cheilectomy about 9-10 years ago; fearing it’s now time for the other side😬**

Yes, I would recommend experimenting with these exercises, especially if you feel as though you have reduced mobility in your big toe joints.
