I almost died laughing at that last one that was upside down and still trying to threat posture. That little monster was positively Shakespearean with his dramatic threat posture. I could picture him proclaiming "I DIE! AND YET STILL I THREATEN THEE!" in a ridiculously over the top English accent.

The catch cup design is a good idea. I often place their old container into a much larger container while trying to move them into a cup. That way if they dart, they're still in a larger container I can catch them, or close up until they calm down.

I love OBT's! My little guy, Orange Julius, got his hooks last May. Even though he has only eaten a few times since, he is still alive. I don't look for him to be around much longer. He has sealed himself up inside his cork bark and I have not seen him come out in months. He has been pretty laid back for an OBT. I only saw him threat pose once, and it was directed at a cricket that startled him. Some comments on here about your use of music in your videos...I don't really mind the music, except there was one portion where the music was playing as you were speaking, and it was very hard to understand what you were saying. I always enjoy your videos, and OBT's are a treat!

@@TarantulaHaven Being born here it's just every day normal stuff, Probably why Australians are known as thick-skinned arrogant bastards to the rest of the world because away from the cities you have to be to live here, to survive. We don't really know anything different. Of course now that the internet has come along and we get to see close hand what other countries have and the ways live ther lives. As they say it's what makes us all diverse and a unique world. I absolutely love the diverse range of vibrant colours and personalities of the overseas tarantulas, being able to call them a true pet it is why I got into the hobby in the first place but then the true reality of our very boring (istilllovethem) native tarantulas slowly come to light as I started to acquire them, they're nothing the same in temperament. im very jealous indeed my frend, thank you for your reply. 🕷❤

I’m new to the hobby, I’m still researching, and don’t have a T yet, but I don’t know if I’ll make it to obt level, ever. I’m curious though, what would you do if you had one run up your arm? Do you have someone there with you in case of something goes wrong? I didn’t comment on that video, but I remember the video of the tik tok girl that had a Tarantula run up up her arm (I think it was a bird eater sp?) And wondered what to do if that happened ow or not? You could maybe fashion a wide clear ring to go around the top of the catch cup In case it bolts up and might have a chance to drop it in the enclosure before it gets on you? Not a situation I want to encounter
@TarantulaHaven2 жыл бұрын
It’s always best to stay calm if one runs up you by chance. Most of the time you can guide them back down and use a catch cup to return them to the enclosure. If one would by chance go somewhere I could reach I always have my wife within ear shot to come help me. Fortunately I’ve never been in that situation but I have had one almost run up the leg of my shorts. I pulled it tight so that it couldn’t go inside my shorts and I ended up catching it on my belly with a catch cup. 😂
