That's the trick. Shoot rain hail sleet snow, even some level of wind. Other than optics and gear function testing there are little considerations that you don't discover unless shooting in those conditions. Even post, like cleaning after a rainy drizzly day. You're rifle will crud up if you don't clean well after a rainy day just from the humidity the carbon soaks up.

I qualified at my department almost exactly as you demonstrated, except our targets turn. I believe we had to do 2 to the body 1 to the head in 2 seconds(I think) with Eotec red dots then repeat, then two years later same final test in 3 seconds with iron sights. And with turning targets it’s pretty challenging. Many fail this section of the qual.
@larryjohnson75919 ай бұрын
Great explanation. I believe that was more important than looking at the target. It was very important to show that you don't have to grab the trigger real fast in order to meet the time standard. A constant, steady trigger press is more important than trigger speed. Great Job Reid. Thank You.

The USMC Table 1 qualification when Marines are not authorized to “rest the magazines on the deck” comes from the National Match Service Rifle Competition rules. The courses of Fire are similar. Just saying where that “magazine on the deck” thing comes from Reid. Thanks for this course of fire.

This may be available somewhere else, so sorry if I missed it. What size is the engagement square and circle on the target? Great course of fire too. Short skills practice sessions like this on a regular basis seem to be far more beneficial than burning hundreds of rounds of ammo a couple times per year.

Love your videos. I have a question about your American Rifleman book. On page 58, you mention about how to select a quality rifle and say that it should have heavy duty bolts and a chrome-lined chamber. What do you mean by chrome-lined chamber? Also, how can I tell if the rifle has a heavy duty bolt? Do Ruger Ar556s meet this criteria? Which basic or stock Stag arms rifle would you recommend that meets that criteria? Many thanks.

This drill with irons is a real test that I don't think many shooters can pass especially first few times out. Everyone is so used to Red dot / Optic use that range and positional shooting with irons would be a real challenge. It certainly a great way to develop iron skills!
