With this strategy in mind, I just don't understand why they would cancel the new all electric XJ. Does it not exactly line up with the strategy or I'd it because they want to build their cars on the new platforms only?

Looking forward to full electric XJ's and F-Type, as well as XF. I hope they bring back the XK. The batteries need to ramp up considerably in terms of weight, power storage capacity and cold weather application. I'm staying open to the change, though.

I think what we can gain from this is that it will be a limited range from Jaguar based on a single platform probably a single Saloon, and a Crossover targeted around the XF and F pace size, and maybe a Sports Car if your lucky. I wouldn't be surprised if the new abandoned XJ isn't turned into Road Range Rover that keeps getting mentioned. So they move things like SVO to Castle Bromwich but its still essentially the closure of UK assembly plant and presumably more production will end up in Slovakia eventually.

So basically, going electric and lots of job cuts was what I took from that

Please fix the door handles. On a 2017 Evoque, I have had to have two-door handles replaced - driver's & passengers. Apparently, this is quite common in LR cars...

He goes on about luxury but the XJ is dead... months ahead of its launch? Hydrogen is a good move, but I feel cancelling the XJ is a mistake. I bet the Jaguar brand is sold off within 2 years.

He tried this with Renault and got thrown out, I can't believe Jaguar was so stupid to employ him. Even now he's gone you're continuing this madness plan.

It may interest you to read 'The Rare Metals War: the dark side of clean energy and digital technologies’ by Guillaume Pitron before Jaguar go down the very expensive and potentially more environmentally damaging route of all electric cars. In essence, the very rare metals these cars need are mined in third world countries with appalling conditions for their work force. They require significant quantities of rock to be extracted to get the minute quantities of metal that will be extracted per tonne. They are very polluting to extract and then there is the loss of land scape, food production land and habitat . Then there is the re-cycling at the end of the life, or the lack there of. Scientists say we will be lucky if we can re-cycle just 10% of the rare metals used in these battery powered vehicles.folly

That is if you look at it from a status quo. However, this is an industry that's still in the early stages of developing. Better, more efficient, lighter batteries that use less or no rare metals. All of that is being developed now. It's a rapidly evolving technology. In 10 years time the knowledge will most likely be radically different.

The end of drivers caring what digitally sanitised product they drive. If it’s milk floats we’re talking, I’ll take a cheap one in red. Gone are the days of aspiring to a beautiful sports car with a beating heart! Is your most luxurious timepiece digital? Does the Mona Lisa look better on a screen, or your favourite brand sound better on a ‘device’ than vinyl? Sad to see the inevitable end come like this, gutted for a company steeped in heart felt motoring like Jaguar, reduced to offering tech services to make you feel better about a bland piece of tech they just sold you. Baaaahhhhh 😭

Don't panic, I've been a petrolhead all my life and recently bought a Tesla due to tax benefits as a daily driver, they really are so much fun to drive and so smooth and quiet. You should have a test drive in an EV, you might be pleasantly surprised. I also have an Impreza track weapon for fun.

@@Ranger0752 nice to hear those words of reassurance from a fellow petrolhead... fingers crossed then, just going to miss the noise!! 🤣

Sorry, I loved my V8 XJ which I drove for 20 years and I love my V8 f-Pace SVR which I got to replace it. I am NOT interested in an electric Jaguar. V8 forever! Also why hydrogen? I would feel much safer with zero carbon synthetic fuel..This is being made in Chile see: newsroom.porsche.com/en/2020/company/porsche-siemens-energy-pilot-project-chile-research-development-synthetic-fuels-efuels-23021.html. This allows us to be zero carbon petrolheads.

@@denzel270 Did you notice they aren't allowing comments on this video any more? I still had these comments showing on my phone, but can't see them on my Ipad. We obviously upset them by suggesting that the corporate strategy might not appeal to loyal customers, and might not be as green as they pretend. It will be interesting to see if you get this. BTW, Enjoyed booting the 550PS V8 again today.
