As an anime only, while it sucks to see some of that content cut I actually kinda like it in the context of this checkpoint. The way White Fox animated this makes it really feel like Subaru doesn’t have a minute to waste before shit hits the fan, and I feel they really hit the nail with how they tried to adapt this time restraint element. Just nonstop action, no downtime, either you succeed or die trying.

I get why it happened but also it makes me wish the episode was just extended a tiny bit to add in the "Soulwashing" and "Subaru tackle" parts, and the pacing makes me worry about future episodes... but its still very good!

i wish they adapted the "hanging chain" scene better honestly. in the novel, he is so overcome with fear (it's not JUST bouncing between Lusbel and Subaru, it's *exponentially* increasing each time) that he dies due to a heart attack. The visceral terror he felt fucks him up so much that when he starts the next loop, he's in a state similar to how he was when he was devoured by the rabbits. The rabbits were a physical horror but the terror here was an equal psychological horror. Idk, he just bounced back much faster than he did in the novel and that kinda took away some of the horror in it. It would have been cool if they added a heart beat starting normal then going faster and faster till he died to show he died of a heart attack better, unless that's a different loop but I thought it was the 2nd... like it's GOOD, i like it, don't get me wrong, but it kinda hit a bit soft compared to the novel :(

Beautiful, beautiful stuff. I'm gassed for the next few eps. I personally subscribe to the Sirius theory, not just for physical similarities but because of the way Witch Factors work when granting Authorities. If a Witch Factor isn't compatible with a user it forces the user to endure a personality shift which is what happened with Geuse making him Petelgeuse when he fully absorbed the Sloth Factor. I'm assuming it was the same with Fortuna, perhaps she was taken and kept alive by Pandora for miscellaneous reasons and was forced to endure the Wrath Factor. Since it distorts the incompatible it would make sense that she would hate Emilia once she became obsessed with Petelgeuse because she was already in love with Geuse and she sees Emilia as the reason he died therefore hating her.

Great video! This episode was amazing but I think the choice of having the pacing for the first half was so brilliant. It was to show emphasis on how quick and fast those loops were shows how Subaru needs to react fast. I was disappointed though by the cut content of the whip scene inside the clocktower though, idk why they did that. I enjoyed the op alot as well . Overall 10/10 episode

i think the pacing was OKAY i think i don't know but I read through this arc in the LN so fast that this seemed kind of on point because this arc is really kind of short compared to the others so I think they might intro arc 6 at the end due to how awkwardly fast this arc is in the LN anyway. But also this was a battleground arc in the LN I think they just wanted to get subaru's only 3 deaths in the arc out of the way so that they could focus on the war

pacing issues is something that's inevitable in anime adaptations. things will have to be cut, but so far i believe they did a good job and basicly go for a "show don't tell" approach where they hope that the viewers can basicly figure it out themselves.

I think that the pacing in this episode was warranted , as you can get this fast pacing in the novel while having a lot of monologuing and conversations , but not so much of that can transfer into animation while keeping that same sort of a fast pace .

That first death man... I don't remember it being THAT horrifying. It's definitely the highlight of the episode for me, even though there were great moments (the crowd going "Kill her", the intensity I felt when Reinhard was approaching Sirius, Emilia vs. Sirius fighting animation) But... They definitely could have added a minute or two to explain some things more in depth, like when Larkins immediately trusted Subaru after mentioning Witch's Cult, or when Subaru just said "Even Reinhard couldn't do it?"... Also, I don't remember Beako saying "In fact". That was Beako's character development D:

Sirius romanee-conti is the wife of romanee, Sirius and Fortuna share a lot of similarities. Both of them have silver hair, purple eyes, ears, and have the same sanpaku pupil size. In addition, Sirius is in a "relationship" with Petelguese like how Guese and Fortuna had a relationship. In addition, both of them used fire magic, maybe in the future will be confirmed, for who read the novel there is a lot of concidence, maybe in the future we gonna se what happen after pandora and the complete story behind that

I have not read the web novel but as an anime only i didn’t think the pacing was that bad. The short timeframe that subaru has to come up with a plan at the beginning of every loop creates a sense of franticness and desperation that i think really makes these loops exciting.

4:40 non Manga reader here One think i found suspicious was the behaviour of Priscilla to tell Emilia to go with Subaru. Priscilla showed that she can manipulate people, too or at least has a lot of charisma to get people following her and I think the real deal against Wrath will be Priscilla. So i think she needs to deal with wrath, because maybe she can overwrite the manipulation. An other Theory would be the plan Betty came up with with Shamak. But they need to figure out why the Manaflow is disturbed and i don't know why. Maybe thats the Ability of Regulus, since in S2 magical attacks didn't worked against him, he maybe can manipulate the mana in his surrounding and only Reinhard is his counter, because he than can't manipulate the mana. Just heories and i'm really hyped for the next episodes

Beatrice is a great spirit and like other great spirits forming a contract with her has special terms. Like she can only draw mana from her contractor or mana crystals and as we know Subaru's mana reserve is pretty @ss so Al Shamak can't be used here Though there is a way to cast a mini Al Shamak at the expense of using her own od (Which she does later in the story), it'll come at a price of exhausting her own life.

It’s explained more in the novel. Subaru wasn’t sure if Sirius’ brainwashing would’ve stopped if she was knocked unconscious and he theorized it could spread like an infection. It isn’t the most sound reasoning but Subaru is written to be very human and will make human error even in his attempts to find the best path forward
