It is a .30 carbine bullet, designed for around 2000 ft/sec

i have the same chrono and recently chroned S and B, PPU, and surplus 1982; All 85 GR; All were from 1430 -1520 fps out of M57 TOK; thanks for the video.

@@kyfirearms Thanks again on sharing reloading of this caliber; the day was warm 80F northeast spring mid-day; ammo was ambient temp.

Great work I think trying a different powder will give you better groups great video 👍👍

Thanks, I just wanted to give it a try. I will do my next video with a more traditional choice.

do you know why Tokarevs seem to drag the firing pin and groove the primers during ejection causing the shell to fly at ballistic speed 30 feet away? I've had 3 Tokarevs each from a different country and they all do it, my m57 is the worst for it.

Don't know but they sure do throw the brass.

That's a feature of the tokarev design, not a bug 😂. Every other tok owner will tell you the same.

i wish there we're conversion barrels for say 40 or 9mm caliber hanguns such as they do for the .357 sig caliber, i'd love to have a conversion barrel for my beretta 92.

Yes, that would be awesome. I have always wished the same thing. I would love to shoot this cartridge in other handguns. Thanks for the comment.

Hey thanks for all the hard work, great info :-) The TRN is a great place :-) I might have you mixed up with someone else, but do you have a Lyman 8 Press ?
@kyfirearms5 жыл бұрын
Thank you and yes I have a review of the Lyman 8. Glad you liked the video and thanks again for your comment.

Have you slugged your tok? My m57 is .311 and runs best with something larger in diameter than the hornadys. They aren’t easy to find unfortunately

I haven't, but luckily it shoots 308 and 309 projectiles pretty good. I did a video with some cast bullets - Lee 311-100. I sized mine down to 309, but you could size to 311. You may not want to get into casting, but something to think about.

1200 FPS seems way too slow
@kyfirearms4 жыл бұрын
I was mainly testing several bullets with this powder for function and safety. I have chronographed a lot of tokarev factory ammo and most is in the 1300 fps range.

@@kyfirearms Are you getting the side to lock to the rear reliably?
@kyfirearms4 жыл бұрын
I didn't have any problems with slide locking. I have loaded ammo down to 1,000 fps and never had any problems. Your particular tokarev may be different.

@@kyfirearms That's surprising but encouraging thank you. I've loaded 9mm with 700-X and it was subsonic on maximum recommended charge with a 115gr bullet. The stupid thing was it was generating 32,000 PSI according to the load data so I'm shocked you can get a high pressure high speed cartridge to work with 700-X it was completely useless for 9mm
@Nostradamus_Order334 жыл бұрын
Logan Barnette Hodge load data says 3.7 grains of 700x. It can not be enough. Keep adding to find the best ft/sec.
@OCofthe34 жыл бұрын
These are pretty wimpy loads!
@kyfirearms4 жыл бұрын
I tested several bullets and was looking for function and safety first. These are mean to be tests and starting loads.
