Thank you for the presentation. I ordered the package and was following your video along with the instructions from the package to make soap and I noticed a disconnect. The instructions from the package to make vs this video for when to add the sodium lactate are different. Should I put the sodium lactate in prep with the lye as you did in the video or in step 4 of the instruction paper I got from the package.

Lye is caustic (aka caustic soda) and in this form very concentrated. If splashed in the eye the solution can cause severe burns and possibly blind you. If you get it on skin it can burn. The batter on skin will usually just itch but can burn. A rinse really well with water will usually be fine if it’s a little bit, if you’re burned you may need medical attention. Sodium Hydroxide is also used in food production in controlled amounts for preservative and to make b.ombs. If your plastic container has a 2 or a 5 on the bottom in the little triangle it can be used to make soap. I personally mix lye solution in a stainless steel pitcher and weigh lye in a glass Pyrex. Natural doesn’t mean it can’t be dangerous. It’s like plants that can poison you if consumed.

Poison ivy is also natural but you wouldn't want it on your skin. Just because something is natural doesn't automatically make it safe. Another example would be bitter almond pits. They contain cyanide.
