An "eye tilt" in an eye exam refers to a misalignment of the eyes where one eye appears to be tilted slightly upwards or downwards compared to the other, often indicating a condition called "skew deviation" or "ocular tilt reaction" which can be caused by neurological issues affecting the eye muscles and balance system; an eye doctor will assess this by checking the alignment of the eyes with specific tests during an eye exam.

I remember going to my regular doc and saying I was having a hard time reading and she said “Well you’re almost 40 so go to Walmart and get some readers” and that was it. Crazy cheap too. Now I’ll be 65 next week and I’ve had a cataract surgery in each eye which corrected my vision. I don’t even need readers. Getting older isn’t that bad 😂

Optician and store manager here. If the glasses are too expensive there, you can find easy prescriptions online. Don’t feel like you need to spend hundreds! Also - blue light filter will only help eye fatigue, there is no proven damage of blue light to your eyes. (Salespeople and doctors will often push this for a higher sale)

Would you all be in to stargazing?? Is that too boring?? Colleen would likely need something to do to keep her occupied, lol, but I love stargazing 🤣 maybe that along with something else?? Maybe even get a small telescope or something, maybe I’m absolutely crazy, but that just seems so fun to me 🤣 either way, love you both! You’ve inspired me to want to try new hobbies w/ my husband and new baby girl (I just had her this past July!)🥰❤️

OMG Colleen, you need to try a picky pad ASAP! I just saw one for the first time, it's perfect when you have dermatillomania! you pick out beads from a sticky blob, and then, when it's empty, you put it in the microwave and it will be fluid, so you can put the beads back in and it will harden again, then you can pick off the beads again, it's supposed to give you relief 😍✨👍

I am a 4th year optometry student (I graduate in May) and I think what the eye “tilt” may be referring to is what’s called a “phoria”. This is more of what I would call an eye turn, but it is just when the eyes are slightly misaligned and need to work harder to fuse images together. The test he did is called a “cover test” that checks how far the eyes are misaligned. Also, those tests are confusing! But trust me, we can decipher the test with how you answer. There are no right or wrong answers! The tests have checks in them to make sure you’re consistent.

Per Google: In ophthalmology, "eye tilt" typically refers to a condition called an "ocular tilt reaction (OTR)," which is characterized by a combination of a vertical misalignment of the eyes (skew deviation), a head tilt to one side, and rotation of the eyes around their axis (ocular torsion), all occurring together due to damage to the vestibular system in the brainstem; essentially, the eyes appear to be tilted in one direction, causing the head to tilt as well.

My mother is OBSESSED with all the wildlife! She has a smart bird feeder that sends her phone a notification whenever someone is visiting it. It will even identify what type of bird is at the feeder. It’s pretty cool. We happened to save a bird because of it once. He was spending a long time at the feeder because he was injured.

When an eye doctor says you have an eye tilt, they are likely referring to the positioning or alignment of your eyes in relation to your face. This could mean: Natural Asymmetry - Many people have a slight tilt in their eyes due to facial structure, where one eye may sit slightly higher or at a different angle than the other. This is usually normal and doesn't affect vision. Strabismus or Eye Misalignment - If the tilt is more noticeable, it could indicate a condition like ocular torsion, where one eye rotates slightly inward or outward. This can sometimes cause double vision or depth perception issues. Congenital or Structural Causes - Some people are born with a slight tilt due to skull or facial bone development. In some cases, conditions like craniofacial syndromes can contribute to this. Eye Muscle or Nerve Issues - If the tilt is recent or causing vision problems, it could be related to muscle imbalances, nerve issues (like fourth nerve palsy), or other eye movement disorders.

Fun fact about the origin of glasses: it is what has put Europe ahead of China and Arab counties economy wise thatmany hundreds of years ago because they were way ahead up till then. Making glasses available to everyone and not just the richest, Europe has significantly increased it's workforce. Suddenly not only 30 and 40 y/o were producing things but the 50+ could sew clothes, make watches, copy texts etc. Seems so small but the impact it had and still has is just 8ncredible!

I had hot lunch every day because it was free. We were to poor for me to take lunch to school. We didn't even get snacks at home. I remember going on a field trip to the aquarium in LA at the beach and parents were supposed to provide lunch for their own child. It was the only time I ever took bag lunch to school. For the first time my mom bought a bag of chips, it was a bag of Cheetos that I had begged and pleaded for. She put a small snack size bag in my lunch and I couldn't wait to eat it. I sat on the beach and opened my Cheetos took one out and placed it next to me on the sand, because my autistic self like to eat the best last, and I reached for my sandwich. As I grabbed my sandwich I felt movement next to me in the sand and I look down and a horrible seagull was eating my Cheetos. I was devastated.

When I hit 40 my 20/20 vision started to go. You might as well go to Costco and buy a bulk package of readers because you will lose them constantly. I have them all over the house and still can’t find them when I need them. Trust me. Don’t invest in fancy vision office readers.
@RayneZaleska21 сағат бұрын
The problem is the readers she is getting are blue light blocking. Most readers you can buy at the store are not.
@connieb437221 сағат бұрын
Right on about the readers and THEN you get into your 60s and need a certifiable prescription, sadly. The hubs got his cataracts fixed and they fixed his vision too... of course giving him several options on what kind of lenses to get.. he got the cheapest. I need to get my cataracts done too but the thought of someone cutting on my eyeball is no bueno.

When I went to get new glasses the girl was so rude bc I couldn't say which picture I saw better. I put my bra on by putting it in place over the boobs, then reaching behind me to clasp it. Once it’s clasped I pull the straps up. I used to do the clasp-in-front-then-twist thing, but then I was told it stretches the bra out faster. And as for night hobbies I highly recommend crocheting! I love to make little stuffed animals, and it helps calm my brain down. That is not really a couple-hobby though because you have to count stitches and you can’t really talk and focus at the same time, well I can’t anyways.
