Release Date + Characters REVEALED | Metal Slug Tactics

The Ikari Warriors have been members of the Metal Slug crew since Metal Slug 6, as playable characters from the get go. Leona was added in Metal Slug 7, but Ralph and Clark were added in 6. In Metal Slug 6 and 7, the unique skills for each characters are: -Marco: better and faster firing Handgun; -Tarma: better with Slugs (vehicles) and can repair them; -Eri: more grenades and better with them (can throw them in any direction instead of the normal arc throw); -Fio: more ammo for special weapons (any weapon you pickup outside of the starting Handgun, which has Inifinite ammo). -Ralph: can take two hits before dying instead of one, and have double damage on melee. But, have only half ammo from Special weapons; -Clark: can use a special attack that makes him invincible for a short period; -Leona: slugs have 1 more health, special weapons have a little bit more ammo, and have a little bit more grenades. Also, all 3 Ikari warriors have some sort of special fightning move they can use, Ralph can use his Vulcan Punch, Clark uses his Argentine Backbreaker, and Leona uses her Moon Slasher. I lke how they translated theses to the Tactics game, making each characters VERY unique, which just adds another layer in the tactical aspect, since making a team is as important as playing optimal strategies. I was certain the Ikari Warriors were gonna be in the game, but if you look at the image of the playable charaters, it could fit 5 more, instead of just the 3 Ikari warriors, and my guess is that they are also including Trevor and Nadia, the two playable characters from Metal Slug 4, that never returned as playable in a mainline game.

Oh nice, I thought the roster felt a bit small from the previous marketing, but it's cool to see that they're adding guests to fill it out

By definition they can't port existing assets to isometry, so initial amount of sprites is fairly small. Hopefully this serves as a foundation for larger roster in the future.

I don't know if guests would be the correct term, since the Ralph, Clark and Leona have all been playable in the main Metal Slug games. And i believe the previously mentioned the game would have nine playable characters, so there might be two more if true. Probably Nadia and Trevor from Metal Slug 4.

If you're familiar with KOF, all three Ikari Warriors are in many of the games.

Im sure you found this out already but in case anyone else was wondering Ralf Jones and Clark Still were first introduced in the first Ikari Warriors on the NES. This has me super excited though. love metal slug series this will be a day one buy for me for sure.

Did they change the portrait art? It seems different to me. I'm excited for the game but also worried given all the delays. Sometimes delays mean a better product and other times it's indicative of inherent trouble in how the game works.

Put simply, it's one of my favorite games to play that I've also never finished. The last 10% of the campaign loses me every time due to how bogged down it gets. This despite how much I love the world building, factions, tech, mechanics, base defense and monster design.

I first heard of the Ikari Warriors from the Angry Video Game Nerd episode on the NES game. They are pretty obscure but cool guest choices. KOF helped their popularity some at least.

@@TitaniumLegman look, I am Mexican and maybe that explains why it's so weird for me that someone doesn't know who they are. Let me explain, the king of fighters games are, or at least were pretty big, Like really, really big, IT WAS the game, wherever you went to the arcades there was a king of fighters cabinet with a line of people waiting their turn to play it, and I grew up playing it and knowing those characters, also, they were guest characters on the last metal slug I think, so maybe you should check it out. If you are interested, I invite you to look up a video about the king of fighters in Mexico, and maybe even the whole Latin America, it's really interesting to see a game being embraced at that level. But for real, you don't know them? For real, for real?

The tower defense game was fun until you hit a freaking difficultly curve where you needed to grind forever. I hope this game didn't do that

I absolutely hate it when game companies wait until the last minute to announce a game's release date. I was planning to preorder this if there was a physical edition, or get it day one if it was digital only but my income is tight enough I need two or three month's notice to save the money, Do game developers really thing giving us so little warning about the release helps them somehow?
