Blake needs to get a hold of the Ohio Fish Rescue guys. They have thousands of gallons with crystal clear water. All on one system
@ScottParisiАй бұрын
Love the constant fish related criticism in the comments. Our man Blake definitely has a lot to learn but he's had some success over the years.
@ShadowspetsАй бұрын
hey Blake, I don’t have a tank of several thousands of gallons, but I do have 25 years of experience in the hobby. Even tho of massive size, it is still a tank. I would make an enlarged sump with several chambers that goes from more rough filter material, to the finer materials. Ceramic pipes and balls to clean out the bigger pieces of dirt like poop and waste, the finer material like different types of porous sponges filter out the smaller parts. Both have a biological filtration as well. Once the water leaves the sump (can be a series of external filters) lead it up to the tank into a drip filter filled with the white cotton fibre that u can buy in petstores. That fibre filters out the smallest pieces of dirt. And because of the water falling into the tank in drops it ads a lot of oxygen as well. I know your fish species don’t allow for it, but aquatic plants would be very beneficial as well! You could grow some in that dripfilter as well

Most of us here understand that any project is always a process, and we are constantly learning and responding. Keep it up! We love anytime you make a video.

Bite the bullet and follow the same design all aquariums use. Sand filters that can be back flowed and three to four times larger than needed. I also recommend UV sterilization, some sand filters have them built in. Ozone is a consideration depending on your well water quality. You could also RO all your well water, which would cut down on your filter size.
@kellywidmar62Ай бұрын
You could add in a few ibc totes filters into your system to help clean up the water. Makes one lava rocks then peat gravel and then a plant filter with hornwort. Not in that order exactly. The plant would add in extra oxygen along with cleaning the water.

Let's go. That tank is so nice in person. Keep it up bro

Hey greenish or cloudy green water means the pond is well seeded and healthy, leave it the fish love it.
@skaughtmc6591Ай бұрын
For an indoor wetland, I’d build a trough that circles the upper viewing area where there’s more light. About 8 inches and a foot wide full of gravel and fill it with wetland plants. Pump water into one side, let it flow around and dump back in on the other side.
@Aussie.Mick.GАй бұрын
You can build a platform outside the shed next to the tank so you can put an outdoor wetland filter in/on it with dirt and plants. It can also double as a nice place to sit outside the upper loft on nice days to relax and look over the farm. Give the pond guy a chance to do something different to do.

I saw some videos where this guy took some of those portable liquid transport pallets. They set up some PVC pipes, drilled small holes, and made a shape at the bottom. They connected it to a water pump, and also filled it with sand and gravel. Might be something to look into, they made it for use in ponds like yours, though theirs were entirely outdoors.
@itzme1046Ай бұрын
I have around 4000gallons plus pond have quite a few pacus and sharks All the filter that was required to keep my tank crystal clear was a huge pond filter which costs around 700-800 dollars For your pond I’d say about two of those and your good The brand I use is sunsun (CPF)50000 pond series two of those will keep it clear whatsoever Edit It comes with a 60 watt UV light which makes greeen water back to normal

What if you used a large whole house carbon filter to add in water from the well to the tank? Would the carbon help remove the discoloration of the water?

@dojc6526Ай бұрын
actually maybe you want to try grown out a few arapaima together. i dont know why but those who keep 1 or 2 has shorter lifespan or tend to get sick /jump out of tanks. but those who keep more then 2 rarely has any issue. a friend got 6 in a concrete tank and never any issue nor attempt to jump.
