Beautiful work Sasha, been wondering the results of the different size bits. Thanks for showing how "you" do it. Now if only my attempt will look as good.

I'm so glad to have found you. I have been wanting to but have just begun to gather the tools and supplies to begin to carve. Your video is very inspiring. I think my only problem will just be the singing that the Dremel does, not on me but on my roommates. I don't suppose I could ask them to wear earplugs. lol Anyway, thank you, I will be binge-watching your videos and have subscribed.

Hi. I have just started doing this after I retired. It is a hobby and to make gifts. My problem is getting the depth the same all over. I have a Dremel Stylo and an Apex Forge with the shaft which I use as the tool itself it really too big. What suggestions do you have to be able to get the same depths?
@usernamemykel2 жыл бұрын
On such a large project, you should be using a router, even a small "palm" router, like the DeWalt 611. However, your Craftsman clone of a Dremel could probably use the router attachment that Dremel sells - less strain on your hand, easier to work with.

a flexible shaft would make it much easier for you :) nice job

I would order a set of round carving bits and a set of round diamond point bits for sanding and smoothing. Amazon has them for a great price and you can try out several different sizes and see which ones you like best.

That came out very nice well done

Thanks for the helpful video! I have two questions: 1) Why not use a light attachment to the machine in the form of a pen, which will facilitate the work. 2) Why not use wood oil, which will enhance the contrast and preserve the wood for a longer time. Acrylic paints do not protect the wood. They are quickly spoiled by moisture, sun and wind. I wish you success!
@Odo-so8pj3 жыл бұрын
A dremel flexi extension would be helpful for precision and grip also the tool like to go in one direction. Wear ear protection and eye protection and a decent mask some woods are toxic.
@raven19630004 жыл бұрын
Beautiful work! I'm curious though, wouldn't it be easier with a flex shaft?...or is there a disadvantage using one here? Thanks! Keep the great vids coming.

You need a flex shaft attachment more control. Faster too. Do you like the Craftsman dremmel. How often do you use it.

Yes a flex would help in control.

Great video! If you conventional cut, it will keep it from wanting to pull. I never climb cut when carving. In other words go against the rotation of the cutter, not with it.

It is great work but faster and quieter to use carving chisels.
@sashaskapar23246 жыл бұрын
Yes Nick! I agree. I have had this Craftsman for about 20 years. It has worked fine. I use it quite a bit. I do think it’s time for me to get a new one. Is there one you’d recommend?
@justinsane3326 жыл бұрын
I recommend air grinders! They are far more affordable for a good one, and the compressor can be used for airbrushing, engraving, air nailers, etc. California air tools quiet compressor for indoor use! Less than 200 for everything you need to engrave glass, carve wood, etch with air eraser, and so many more! Less drag than a flexshaft, less chatter than a dremel!
@carbon12555 жыл бұрын
Have you considered using a router to get rid of most of that material before you go in with a dremel? Seems like removing that much materiel at a certain depth is not the dremel's forte.
@sashaskapar23245 жыл бұрын
Yes, a router would be so much faster. I don’t have a router though. I just do my best with what I’ve got. 😁

For me still hand chisel is the best tool for carving,, its faster and reliable than dremel.. Dremel took a lot of time
@MichaelSmith-vu4kr4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes its not about the speed in which the work is done in. Sometimes its the experience of the work performed. Dremmel vs chisel don't matter as long as the artist is satisfied with the result in the end.

Mine started burning the wood! What I did wrong ?
@sashaskapar23244 жыл бұрын
That happens to me sometimes too. It could mean your bit is dull, or you are using too much pressure. Make sure you set it at high speed and try using less pressure. I hope that helps.
@whirlingape56714 жыл бұрын
You need roughing bits they sell on Ebay that I have. It's easy to burn wood on those and bits! The tougher ones have little welts on them finish faster and more effective and efficient :)

What type of Dremel tool is that the brand name I have one that cost me 50 bucks too small handheld it works but it takes forever to carve into a piece of wood and it seems type of style that you're doing please help
@sashaskapar23246 жыл бұрын
Travis, this is a craftsman rotary tool. It works great. I have experimented with tons of different bits. I find that the bit is really what makes the difference with speed. I just finished another carving project and will be posting the video soon. Have a great day!

"Little" template?????? It's humongous!! "...on my Dremel..." um, no lady, you're not using a Dremel, you're using a Craftsman. They're both rotary tools, but different brands. "Band-Aid' is a brand name for bandage, "Kleenex" is a brand name for tissues, etc., etc.
