I got the RCBS Primer Pocket Swager II to covert Berdan primers to fit boxer primers. Just recently I was having a serious issue priming .223 as they were almost all crimped, so I ended up swaging every single case, but some still had issue, and one was impossible to press in, so I then used a taper bit to taper the top of the pocket, still no go, so I then TAPERED THE HELL OUT OF IT, and still had an issue, even after it crammed in bending the primer to hell so I think the primer itself was oversized as the cases were swaged.

It works pretty good but I've had the head bushing break several times. RCBS replaced it under warranty. It's not as sturdy as I thought it would be.

What's that go, no go primer gauge you showed? I'm currently reaming and that looks better than picking up a primer with finger tips to see if it's ok... Ps disregard saw it answered in another comment. Excellent vid!

Having the same problem with this tool not swaging pockets enough regardless of adjustment. I am probably going to end up replacing it with the Dillon unit that I should have bought in the first place. I have what looks like the same go/nogo gauge, but to my way of thinking its purpose is for checking a sample of processed cases to make sure the tool is working, than to check each piece of brass and possibly swage multiple times. That's a failure of the swaging tool and the reason I am looking to try something different.

What are you using for a track protector? Is it something you made or bought?

On my table saw I cut a piece of pine board the length, width and depth of the track. Fits perfect and gives me a completely flat surface as well as keeping things from falling into or getting stuck in the track.

cool, Im looking to get a swager, have you tried the Frankford Arsenal, looking at the Dillon and this RCBS. Im a big RCBS fan but the FA looks faster/easier.

I did this over 3 years ago and some things have changed. Lee introduced their APP...and for swaging, I'm not sure how you can beat it. There are plenty of videos on it, and it's about the cost of most swaging solution and it can do so much more. Just a thought.

Careful with the FA. I'm seeing allot of those springs breaking after little use. Hopefully they've addressed the issue but buyer beware.

How do know the size brass the small and the large checker are for ?

Are you referring to the hand held go/no-go gauge? If so, there is a small and a large gauge and each one has a go (correct size) and no-go (incorrect size) that will fit or not.

I'm sorry. I did not make that very clear. What brass does the small one check and which size does the large?

The small one will fit ALL small primer brass (e.g., 9mm, 223/556) and the large will fit ALL large primer brass (e.g., 45 ACP, 308, etc.)

He's NOT reloading. He has no primers, no powder, etc. He's just bending brass a bit. No prob. I just hope it's GOOD booze. Lousy booze isn't worth it. If he's drinking lousy booze, then there's a problem here people. :)
