These videos are great! They are helping me to fully understand Meshmachine, Hardops, and Machine Tools a lot better! Keep up the great work!

Fantastic to hear. I thought it would be helpful to show how these add ons interact together. 😁

Hi! Great video! If you want to isolate edges from themselves when beveling you can still use vertex groups, just add extra topology. Loopcut through the middle of the box and you can use it without confusion as that one vertex is enough to say message what you selected and what not.

Hmm.... I'll have to try that.

Thanks so much. The video on Monday on Patreon (next week on KZbin) has a neat trick using HardOps to modify a function in Cablerator which gives some really powerful possibilities. Hopefully you'll enjoy that 😁

thanks for the info this will actually be helpful in the future but question are you making a titan
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
I'm not right now but I have made parts for titans in the past and I had a few people ask me about pistons. But I do want to make some more titan or knight parts/models in the future

1:44 It's funny I've also been using this EM Macro feature for a long time. Turns out, using "Inset" while holding Ctrl does the exact same thing! Just hit "i" while holding Ctrl and see for yourself.
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
That's a really cunning use of that function, I never thought of using it that way. You just have to be careful to not inset initially. I'll still most likely use EM macro just to avoid having to look down at the keyboard to find "i" where as EM macro takes the same number of clicks but for people without HardOps that's a legendary idea! 😁👌🏼

Or you just press "Alt E" and click along face normals. No need to go to the t panel.

Why your edges are more visible like they have bevels on them, for me its kinda hard to see my models edges as they aren't reflecting light. Please try to help

Fastest way i do extrude along normals is face mode, right click, extrude along normals, only has that option in face select mode though
@ArtisansofVaul11 ай бұрын
That works but it can cause issues if you're not careful in some situations. I have a quick short on that here. You can solve this by hitting S but at that point it's now taking more clicks/time than using HardOps. kzbin.infonrA9YaBVsIo

@@ArtisansofVaul oh ive not ran into any issues exctruding along normals, on unless im doing it round a corner, blender hates that haha ill look into it, ive been using blender a while but only recently got mesh/HO because of you and it is fantastic wish id got it waaaay sooner hahah, could you do a video showing how you do a work flow on a mechanised unit, like a knight for example, mainly the body and shell, arms and legs arent a problem im just trying to figure out how to get that front lip on the shell to look good and trying to fill out the body is proving rough, its getting there but must be an easier way haha, no node please XD

@@jordenc8417 👍🏻 What do you mean by the "front lip"? I'm always happy to get video suggestions 😁👍🏻
@jordenc841711 ай бұрын
@@ArtisansofVaulso the curved plate thats sits on top of the knight, where the gap is for the head, stubber and shield theres a small extruded lip that come out just a tad, it just getting those out accutatly enough but also evenly with the flow of the shell, if that makes sense, oh and if your wanting video ideas i have a fair few hahah ill drop them in every now and then :)

love your vids! instead of using ALT + EM_MACRO you could just do ALT + E.
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
While that is true in this instance Alt+EM_Macro gives a better result without tweaking the settings and it also has other features you can use so I have just got used to using it straight off.
