Many victims do not go to the police, especially when it is someone in the family that attacks them. Maybe she did try to talk her into going and she wouldn't. She probably just wanted to forget it and go back home to her family.

It takes, on average, 7 times, for a victim of domestic abuse to leave their abusers. As a former Paramedic, once we got the victim to the hospital, all they can do, by law, is advise her that she's being abused and to get out. Unfortunately, not everyone listens. And then we end up with a lot of Jane Does in the Morgue, until family members, if she has any, come looking. It is the same in the US as it is in Canada. However, we do have newer laws that allow the police to arrest the abuser WITHOUT the victim laying a charge at all. Hope this helped answer your question. Best Regards and Stay Safe!! Former Paramedic from Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦

It often does happen to rookie cops. And first year medical students dissecting a cadaver for study. After, I think their brain slowly resets itself to viewing it as work. It does take a psychological toll but a lot of them thankfully can manage it. Some cops still do develop PTSD and there is a psychological unit now attached to most stations to help them deal with the most horrific cases.

It's the psychological make up of the perpetrator. My former husband was fairly good but when he thought he had lost control of me, he put his hands around my neck and shoved me head first into a wall. I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I've lost count of the number of times I've fantasised about killing myself and others. The only difference between me and my former husband is that I'm actually terrified of harming someone and I've sought out help relentlessly. Even called the cops on myself. After the assault from my former husband, I left for a women's refuge/shelter and he definitely cared that I'd left. I think he would have been remorseful if he killed me (not sure if it would be sorry for what he'd done or sorry for himself) If I killed him in self defence, I'd want to die. I was raised in the church, I went to a very good school as a teenager and I stayed in university for 5 years from ages 19-26. I was terrified of illegal drugs because I knew I was "crazy" already and I've seen them make my maternal uncle worse. I'm also quite good at removing myself from toxic situations. So all those factors acted as brakes on my impulse control, murderous thoughts and most importantly my actual behaviour. I still have terrible mood swings where I wish the entire world would just die but I tend to hide from the world on those days.

I think that if you get the name of the victims on google or some other search place i.e. newspapers etc then thats ok so long as the names dont come directly from Law Enforcement. They have a Duty to not disclose it themselves to the public. A privacy to protect the innocent. Its a mickey mouse type law to protect Law Enforcement and more likely also would have to have permission from each and every person whose a victim to use their name. Weird Huh, when someone is killed here, the names always in the paper soon as it happens.

These series seem to suggest that in the end, all killers get caught. But what is the real percentage of murders in the US, in European countries etc. who apply all those forensic sciences that don't get caught ? How many cases are still "pending" ? In Belgium, after almost 40 years, we still don't know the names of the members of the "Bende van Nijvel", a right wing paramilitairy gang that killed 30 plus people, mainly to create a climate of political instability. It led to more weapons and more security measures and more power for some police units... But there seem to have been strong ties between the gang members and the same special units... Very black pages in our national history, comparable to that right wing gang in Italy that blew up a railway station in the same period.

And sadly many First Nation woman keep disappearing and get killed but no solving their cases. That’s what I was hearing by the woman that tells they’re go missing and not even taking seriously. No person should be left without answers for the disappearing, murder or any crime of their loved ones. I would be harassing till they would look into it. But I don’t live in USA, Belgium has a different way and sadly even here not all murder or missing cases gets solved.
