It wasn't battery voltage. The ECU can also be written with 10-11V. But it's not safe. Your problem is the general protocol MED7-9. Chinese tools do not include a patch that fixes this protocol. Therefore, it is not recommended to modify petrol engines from ME7 to MED 17 by Chinese Kess V2.

Battery voltage should be minimum 12.5v but 13v + ideally, otherwise you risk not communicating properly with the ECU

I noticed your voltage fluctuate and drop below 12V. I am planning to do something similar and think a battery stablizer would be safer. Second time could be checksum like you said. Waiting for your 3rd video and like what you are doing.

Love the video's mate, I did the same as you but turned out I can't do my bmw over obd, have to remove the ecu, so iv sent it away to be fully reworked, it will work exactly the same as genuine

Thanks 🙏. I am considering the 335 n54 as my next car/project. It’s good to know that about the ecu although there is an app for your phone that tunes a few of the high powered bmw range called MHD flasher. It’s not much cheaper than taking it to a tuner but you have the option of putting it back to stock if you need warranty work

@Shaun Osborne I realise what I did with the ST is not gonna work on every car and I also realise that people are not gonna like that I’ve done it. At the end of the day it was an experiment which went in my favour and cost me very little for an outcome I was happy with. That won’t always happen nor would I expect it to.

I want to add nitrous to my car but my car is already stage 1 mapped and dont fancy shelling out for another tune to get nitrous to work. I thought abiutaybe using kess v2 to try but dont fancy bricking my car

As I had the original file I knew I could put it back on plus the mappers were a phone call away and were more than willing to help

That was bad service from the company. When you first said it failed they should have checked the file they made to make sure. Obv its the file, you can get a file in with checksum fail. But you will have a fucking nightmare of problems. My tip is get a account on a file service site, there you upload file, can talk to tuner and to get it downloaded you need to pay. Better pay 50 then 25 and get good service.

Buy a clone kess, download original ecu file, send file to online mapper, receive modified file back and then write new file to car if it’s all gone smoothly brilliant if not write your original one back to your car and contact mapper with issue they will sort it for you

So if you use kess to read your file from the car then write back the modified file and it fails due to checksum and car won't start will it alway accept your original file back in to the ECU M8 ? And work

Good question and as far as I’m aware you can use the recovery option to revert back or just write over the modified file with your original file which is all that I did. The company that modified the map had told me if any issues just write the original file back to ecu

Kessv2 plugs into your obd2 port were as ktag is used to access your ecu after you have removed it from the vehicle

Maybe, Snap on categorically ensure you cannot manipulate any code without a charger connected, I did observed your charge was ranging between 11.5 - 11.7 volts on your device display is the only reason I questioned it. Live and learn man and the Snap on unit is about $6,000us ✌🏽🇦🇺

How you revived the ecu? How are you yoused the backup? On the table with ktag?

As I saved the original ecu file first all I needed to do was either use that file as a new file and over write the one I had put on or use the recovery method which is an option within the software. No need to remove the ecu and use ktag
