@@TakatofanAgain he would have made more money on wheel... 😊😊
@Superlad9494Ай бұрын
@AdamStabelli no he wouldn't have. There's this thing about the boss' other name being Fred Mertz if you get the analogy. Chuck wanted to be payed the standard salary rate of an Emcee, but Merv didn't want to. NBC was going to pay half because Chuck was a nice guy...Merv said "forget it or I go to CBS"...and to either of the Big 3 threatening to switch is well "Fightin' Words" especially in 1980...and especially when CBS and NBC had a Wabbit v Mouse war and NBC was partnered with the mouse in addition to the fledgling ABC at the time. Syndication wouldn't have made a difference. Merv just didn't like the guy so he paid him peanuts...especially after how salty Merv was about NBC making some necessary improvements to the show in 1975 like siding with Dr. Susan Stafford about not allowing pilot host Edd "Kookie" Byrnes to host the show because he was drunk while filming the pilots and caught in the act of trying and failing to remember AEIOU...and being a bit of a control freak in general. Merv didn't realize that sometimes Network help is necessary...I mean Wheel has always been a Family Show at it's core...do you really want to show a drunk hosting when it airs in the dinner or lunch hour?
