I still carry 80’s Christmases in my heart. The prayers, music, presents, school Christmas programs, Toys R Us, Charley Brown Christmas, dinners at my grandparents. Even my parents’ divorce then did not diminish the child-like joy I still have that I have passed down to my kids.

The 80's was something truly special and I loved the Christmas season back then and the TV specials were great and it's sad these days you don't see much of anything. No Christmas specials besides the Grinch and a handful of movies but we don't get any Charlie Brown or much else. Times have truly changed and not for the better.

You are absolutely correct. I was 12 in 1984 and that decade was the best of my life. Christmas was so “new” and it was everywhere. Sure there might be LOTS of Christmas stuff on “TV” today but that’s just because you have access to 1,000,000 outlets, channels, every movie, etc. but “those we don’t speak of” (the village 😂) have done such a great job of ruining Christmas over the recent years by steadily dismantling everything about it..that when it comes around now. I just don’t feel it anymore and it makes me so sad and angry that I have no feelings anymore, and I’m a musician/composer which is ALL emotion and feeling. Instead of the big man Santa delivering toys to the boys and girls.. it’s “neutral parcel transporter servicing the non binary products of human admixture”.. Just doesn’t have the same Christmas meaning 😂. But this channel and video helps. I wish I could just go back to the 80s again

The 80s were a great time even though we didn't have much of anything, we still had the hope that something big would happen, and that was always a good thing. People weren't hating each other about politics and most people were genuinely nice folks. We weren't afraid to sing songs about God or Jesus on TV and I think we have lost sight of that, since we were slammed with media overload, the kids don't get the Christmas specials like we always looked forward to. We watched Charlie Brown, Rudolph, and Frosty every single year and we constantly watched the commercials to see if an item we wanted would be shown. I am trying hard to create that magic feeling for my kid so that he has amazing Christmas memories to take with him and pass on to his kids one day. Thank you for sharing this! 1984 was a great year, and even the Macy's parade wasn't controversial and it kicked off the Christmas season when Santa came down the lane. I have most of these movies on a hard drive and I try to watch them with my family to keep those magical moments alive. I'm a big kid myself and I love re-living things through the movies. One day I bought my favorite cereal as a kid and put on a 6 hour cartoon marathon and we watched cartoons on a Saturday morning.

So happy to see another one of these, as they've been great. Certainly hope that when you finish the 80's you continue with the 90's. Such great movies, episodes and specials. Including Candles Snow & Mistletoe (1993), and Christmas episodes of Mr. Dressup (multiple years) and Under the Umbrella Tree (oops just realized this was 1989) (Canadian kids tv shows). Plus Noel the Happy Christmas Ornament (1992), and For Better or For Worse: A Christmas Angel (1992).

Another great video going down memory lane! Really miss how the season seemed to build up from starting off with Santa ending the Macy's Day parade, all the Christmas Specials on TV, local festivities and then ending with Christmas Eve into Day. As a kid it seemed to take forever even though it was only 4-5 short weeks but always felt so full. Now you start seeing Christmas stuff before Halloween and it has been that way a while. Feels like a lot of that *holiday cheer* has gone away and not just because we're adults.

People these days seem to hate the whole idea of Christmas because they hate religion so much. As if you couldn't make the season about something else it just enjoy the festivities and spirit. Everyone is so eager to be offended or to point out that they were not catered to personally.

You Can't Do That On Television! Such an awesome show. Spent many an afternoon with Moose and Lisa and Alistair. Old Nickelodeon (and I remember when it didn't have commercials!) was the best. I became a Gerry Anderson fan as an adult so the Terrahawks episode gives me a giggle. And is Christmas horror a thing? I guess it is! I think a big part of the holidays were the commercials. Brands took a lot of care with their holiday offerings; I'm not sure that happens anymore, since we've gone away from 'the big three' networks.

Everywhere was sold out in our (then) little town, but someone tipped them off to order them from a Sears Catalog Store in a little village full of retirees near us. Each store got a set number and when they were gone, they were gone. The only catch was they didn't come in the fancy display boxes. However, it was cool because us girls were stumped, only to open these oblong boxes and discover the ultimate prize inside!

Going to Pizza Hut was special. The salad bar, the red cups of Pepsi, and the grease!

@ChristmasAficionado yes sir, I loved the salad bar because it was the first I saw as a kid that had bacon bits. Our pizza hut looked kind of like a barn inside with wood rafters up in the ceiling. Dim lights, some arcade games as well

Bro it’s 1984 and you didn’t mention He-man for a Christmas toy 🤦🏻‍♂️

I only mention a few toys balancing boy and girls toys . I went hardcore He-Man in 1985. 1984 was the Cabbage Patch Kids. He-man debuted in 1982 and will probably talk about them in 82 and 83

My partner is out with her folks tonight.. So I'm literally drinking bourbon, eating popcorn and watching the 84, 85, and 86 vids lol. Born in '74 and like one of the other comments, everything was right in my world back in 84/85. Such a great time to be a kid Damn i miss the 80s!
