I still carry 80’s Christmases in my heart. The prayers, music, presents, school Christmas programs, Toys R Us, Charley Brown Christmas, dinners at my grandparents. Even my parents’ divorce then did not diminish the child-like joy I still have that I have passed down to my kids.

The 80's was something truly special and I loved the Christmas season back then and the TV specials were great and it's sad these days you don't see much of anything. No Christmas specials besides the Grinch and a handful of movies but we don't get any Charlie Brown or much else. Times have truly changed and not for the better.

The 80s were truly special. Christmas in the very early 80s was going to the local mall where we got to see Santa actually arrive, not by sled but a Bell H 13 helicopter. Then a visit to K•B Toys to finish up the day and look at the new toys on display

Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, Starriors, Select Convertors (yeah I liked them), GoBots, Wheeled Warriors, and Robostrux: 1984 had a major toy overload for kids that only the rich could keep up with. There was even more to want in the following year with MASK and Thundercats.

Another great video going down memory lane! Really miss how the season seemed to build up from starting off with Santa ending the Macy's Day parade, all the Christmas Specials on TV, local festivities and then ending with Christmas Eve into Day. As a kid it seemed to take forever even though it was only 4-5 short weeks but always felt so full. Now you start seeing Christmas stuff before Halloween and it has been that way a while. Feels like a lot of that *holiday cheer* has gone away and not just because we're adults.

People these days seem to hate the whole idea of Christmas because they hate religion so much. As if you couldn't make the season about something else it just enjoy the festivities and spirit. Everyone is so eager to be offended or to point out that they were not catered to personally.

So happy to see another one of these, as they've been great. Certainly hope that when you finish the 80's you continue with the 90's. Such great movies, episodes and specials. Including Candles Snow & Mistletoe (1993), and Christmas episodes of Mr. Dressup (multiple years) and Under the Umbrella Tree (oops just realized this was 1989) (Canadian kids tv shows). Plus Noel the Happy Christmas Ornament (1992), and For Better or For Worse: A Christmas Angel (1992).

You Can't Do That On Television! Such an awesome show. Spent many an afternoon with Moose and Lisa and Alistair. Old Nickelodeon (and I remember when it didn't have commercials!) was the best. I became a Gerry Anderson fan as an adult so the Terrahawks episode gives me a giggle. And is Christmas horror a thing? I guess it is! I think a big part of the holidays were the commercials. Brands took a lot of care with their holiday offerings; I'm not sure that happens anymore, since we've gone away from 'the big three' networks.

I was 11. My mom and 2 of her friends who had daughters in my class wanted to get us Cabbage Patch Dolls. Everywhere was sold out in our (then) little town, but someone tipped them off to order them from a Sears Catalog Store in a little village full of retirees near us. Each store got a set number and when they were gone, they were gone. The only catch was they didn't come in the fancy display boxes. However, it was cool because us girls were stumped, only to open these oblong boxes and discover the ultimate prize inside!
