Remington Cyclone "New Rimfire Technoly" Worth It? CZ 457 MTR

Cyclone back in the early 90's was my #1 accuracy ammo!! I bought the remainder of a case 7/8 bricks when I found it shot so well.

@cw2a oh yeah, CW! I used a lot of the older stuff also. We used to shoot walnuts off of the fence with most of that old stuff. I don't remember missing the walnuts very often at all 😉

I just bought a box of this at Wally world. Almost 6¢pr so I had to try it. It looks to be a slightly cheaper (bare lead bullets) version of Golden Bullet? The power of Golden Bullet can be inconsistent but usually even the weaker rounds will still cycle. Hence probably good ammo for mag dumping.

@rv7ator yeah it is a bare version. I will have to check which lead it is the same as. Never thought to look the entire time I have been testing this Remington lol 😆 😄 🤣 😂 Yeah the oonly positive I can say is that I haven't has a single failure to fire that I honestly remember. So yes , very true ... Great for plinking random stuff and dumping your mag lol

My Ruger single six loves Remington cyclone. I just picked up a box of 225 at wally world for 14 bucks. It shoots well in a revolver. Great video

@@CountryRimfire I've been going longer distances with the revolver lately and was able hit steel at over 100 yards with it. I need to try and see what it's maximum distance is out of that old gun. So far, golden bullet made it to 86 yards, this stuff made it to 100, and I really pushed Aguila 40gr cp rn super extra to 175 yards. I need to try these at 100+ and get back to you. Maybe I'll make that my next video. 😏

I bought a box. Fired 10 rounds. 3 were very underpowered and 1 would not fire. I pulled the bullet, there was no priming compound in the case at all.

@haroldsheriff2728 yes, their quality control is horrible! They are trying to pump it out so fast they miss a lot of stuff, sadly 😥 It's definitely not consistent as I had similar results in another session. I wouldn't waste my $$$ on this again, that is for sure 😉

Never got faster ammo to shoot good, when it slows to under 1130fps it destabilizes.

To be fair you are shooting 2 different 40gr bullets and comparing it to 36gr ammo. Some 22s dont like the lighter ammo and tends to shotgun groups. Both the Bagara and savage I have dont like the 36gr bullets and they both have different barrel lengths. Im not defending remington because I have shot the 40gr and its not much better but it did shoot better than the 36 of the same type (golden bullet). The thunderbolt is the 40gr offering in the lead only bullet. That shoots decent through both rifles but you are talking a 3-5 inch group at 100yds but its better suited for close distance at 50yds it will give a good group. To be fair this is bulk range ammo not high quality ammo its all thrown into one box and thrown around till its finds its way to the shelves. You cant have high expectations when packaged like though, there is little care taken to preserve the integrity of the bullet.

@CYOA03 The two groups to the left were done earlier just to see if I wanted to use them on a challenge target. I wasn't really comparing the two just making a statement 😉 This was a Remington test to see how their statements hold up ... they absolutely do not hold up. 🤣😂 I wasn't expecting much from it as my last few tests of their new stuff were even worse than this. I agree with what you say completely. Ammo just tossed into a box and slung around for who knows how long, isn't going to work worth a crap lol I basically just want to show that for the funds, there is just as good and sometimes better ammo you could get 😉 Thanks for chiming in brother!! 😉😃

Did you try biting your tongue while shooting 😂 How about holding your mouth to the left while shooting 😅 Some ammo just requires you to close both eyes while shooting 🤣 All joking aside Remington Yellowjackets used to be my go to ammo back in the day when I could afford it. Of course both Remington Thunderbolts and Winchester Wildcat used to shoot much better back in the 80s. You can order ammo from Academy Sports. Your gonna have to try that Monarch 22lr.

That looks like plain Jane plinking fodder, not real good ammo for much else...if it is cheap enough we will buy it, because we are inaccurate plinkers, and small misses do not bother us...we actually have several thousand thunderbolts on hand, as our autos like the stuff...this cyclone ammo would do fine in our revolvers and lever actions, if affordable...our 'better' .22lr stays stashed against a rainy day, but I must add that I expected better performance out of your CZ...I didn't catch at what range those shots were made, but even at 50 yards, yeah, that is lousy accuracy...or was the wind blowing 50mph...?

@JohnPublic-dk7zd it was at 50 yards. I was testing for 2 things, really. To see if it was accurate enough to do any of the online challenge targets with and find out what else, if any, it was good for. Hunting, plinking, or just not worth the funds 🤔 I also keep wanting to see this new rimfire technology with improved performance and accuracy 🤣 😂 Yeah, John, I found out for the cost it wasn't worth it for really anything you would want to try to do with it, lol 😓 It might be alright for revolvers or something that already is not very accurate to begin with 🤔 😉 I want to try the new Thunderbolts. I don't have very high hopes. But I need to see to satisfy my curiosity 😕

The old,old Remington ammo was decent, but you could not give any of today’s stuff to me for free. Remington is THE WORST, .22lr ammo on the market. It is extremely dirty burning. CCI’s are the cleanest burning.

@@pickin4you I totally agree with you on this and also feel the same way about Winchester. I remember as a kid the ammunitions being much much better quality!
