Good point. Carter you gotta gimme some reference here! Demo an unnamed drum or cymbal pack that you really hate and lemme hear you play effortlessly and like a river of liquid vibe on those things so I know when something just sounds BAD. Every demo you do I WANT THAT THING. Too bad that thing is your playing... Not your gear. C'mon make something sound like ass for once.

Carter, just stop it man. If you put plastic bags on as skins and used IKEA made drum shells, they're still gonna sound phenomenal with your effortless playing and musicianship. When you gonna start throwin us a bone and do a few " tips, tricks and licks " lesson videos? How about a once a week tear down of our favorite phrases you play called " Chop Tweek "? 😁 Seriously tho, you're just killin it as always and it's part of my morning routine to wake up slowly with some coffee and Carter Expressions.... So relaxing.

A few years back Ross Garfield "The Drum Doctor" (and once drum tech for Jeff Porcaro) told me to try Skyntones on both batter and reso for my 18 x 12 kick. He told me I could thank him later. Sounds just like this. Thinner heads than Fiberskyn. Very tonal. Thanks, Ross and thanks Carter for sharing the video!

Judas Maccabeus what is the difference between fiberskyn and these?
@BayouMaccabee5 жыл бұрын
@@johnohod I think the main difference is that the Skyntones are thinner than the Fiberskyns. I believe the Skyntones are 5 mm thick whereas the Fiberskyns are 7.5 mm (not counting the coating on both). So, I'd imagine that the Skyntones might be better (more responsive?) on snare drums than Fiberskyns are. These are definitely my favorite heads for brushes.

Marvelous drumming...as always!! I assume that these are Remo Fiberskyn heads. I discovered them by accident a few years ago and now use them on all of my wood-shell snares. I have a 1961 Slingerland Hollywood Ace that I was in complete despair over until I put a Fiberskyn on it. It completely transformed it! While I use Evans heads on my Ludwig CM toms (sorry Carter), I've gone to Remos for the batter heads of all my snares.

Are these heads new from Remo? Similar to Fiberskyn? I've used Fiberskyn heads which I like but they have a tendency for the top layer to delaminate over use and aging. Which is why I switched to Evans '56 Calftone heads for 'faux calfskin' heads. I'll have to check these out.
@MichaelWashingtonAE5 жыл бұрын
Sounds great Carter! I wish they would go ahead and make those heads for bass drums larger than 18, I am sure orchestral percussionist would love them for concert bass drums as well.. Single ply sweetness unlike the Fiberskyn ambassador 2 ply (1 ply + a ply of film) that the texture ply separates

I love the sound of these heads. Since they’re skyn tone and not real skin,do they need constant tuning? I’ve only had one skyn tone head. It was longer ago than I can remember. I always use coated heads,but I’ll get some of these if they don’t require constant tuning like real skin heads. Let me know,please. If they didn’t require constant tuning,I’d buy the camel skin heads from that Canadian company.
