Hey Jake, Any new vids coming soon? I finally “joined” KZbin so can comment now. I really enjoy your graphics and especially the way you breakdown the steps. If we would have had this level of sharing and openness 20 years ago we would have a much tighter and customer confident industry. Here in Tampa Florida back then you’d swear that anyone could do PDR just by watching a tech for 5-10 minutes. 😂 I remember trying to introduce myself to a DW tech back then and he literally kicked his tools under the car he was on and got in a defensive stance like we were about to throw down just by saying my name and that I also did PDR. So glad times have changed. Just subscribed to your channel so I’m looking forward to getting a notification that you have posted a new one. Great job on this repair, obviously. 👍👍
@1st_track_dents2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes when I started up many years ago, no tech's that I met would ever want to tell you anything, it was so secretive which just made me more determined. I actually developed my own way of doing things because of this, but luckily I had a panel beating background. If someone wants to learn something and they are determined, they will find the information one way or the other, so no point hiding everything in a shroud of mystery! In my videos I just show the way I work, I don't say it's the right or wrong way, it's just what works for me. New video coming this Sunday, so not long to wait, just finishing the editing as we speak! Thanks for the kind comments! Take care 👍👍

I wouldn't call any of the outcome of what you did luck lol You have a great eye for all those small high and low spots! Great dent removal for sure! I need to do some repair to my truck door where a guy backed into me in the Lowe's parking lot in Nov. of 2020 and then took off. It looks like someone wadded it up in their hand lol. I also have some hail damage I need to fix, and this channel is the best how to on dent repair that I have seen! I definitely need to invest in some of the tools you have, especially the long arm with screw on tips; that has to be the greatest asset for PDR for sure! Thanks for sharing the knowledge and techniques! You do a great job of highlighting and explaining the crowns and creases and stretching from the damage etc.! Excellent work!

Great job as usual Jake thought the panel was stretched when I first saw it. The line on the frame was nasty I have flattened one of my 6mm metal tap downs I find I don’t have to be as accurate and it spreads the load a bit. Keep up the videos they r a great watch. 👍

@dingking75772 жыл бұрын
HEY JAKE!! On some of your vids you say you sharpened your knockdowns. Would be interesting to see your process. I mostly (the ones that will fit) put mine in a drill and spin it in upgrading sand paper until it’s smooth as ice and sharp. However on my metal ones I’m rarely satisfied and can usually see a slight marring on the panel. Techs have said there’s always marring with metal and just buff it out but I don’t agree with that, at all. Thanks bud.
@1st_track_dents2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I usually just sharpen them on a flat piece of sandpaper, usually P80 and then to P120 and that works well for me. I don't use the metal ones only as I work mobile so usually working in the road or on concrete/tarmac driveways and I tend to drop my knockdowns quite a lot! so I would be forever polishing the tips again, with plastic you just have to give it a quick rub with some smooth paper and you're good to go again. Also if you drop a plast knockdown on a bonnet or roof by accident, there is no way it will damage it. 👍👍
@dingking75772 жыл бұрын
@@1st_track_dents I agree, when a metal one slips it falls in slow motion, NOOOOO! Lol I use metal mainly to shock tight areas on larger repairs (learned from Brice’s channel) but 90% of the time it’s delron or Dent crafts plastic. Fantastic job , I wish you were in my area , I have an annoying dent I told you about the other day I found one small access point under wheel arch liner but I don’t have the tools to get in there , I have contacted two companies now with photos for an online quote, but so far no joy neither have contacted me back, I tried a glue pull kit but it was off eBay and it was hopeless the pull tabs did not hold the glue plus I think the glue was hopeless I have returned the kit for refund , so it looks like I’m stuck with this very annoying dent caused by a car door in a car park.

@@1st_track_dents one got back to me £130+ vat they said access is an issue in the Astra k off side rear wheel arch , it’s the size of a 5 p piece so at that price I might have to learn to live with it or stick a bump strip over it to hide it 😂, but thanks for taking the time and interest in my issue , I guess I will have to keep watching you and maybe have a go myself but the tools required would far out strip the cost to get it done , in your opinion is that price fair .
@1st_track_dents2 жыл бұрын
@@adriancarter825 Hi Adrian, yes that does sound like it is in the right ballpark for a good reputable PDR company. You may get it cheaper but then it may be a lower quality job, with PDR you only get one chance to get the dent out, if it's done incorrectly the paint could be damaged and then you are into an expensive respray. The price doesn't always depend on the size of the dent it can be due to other factors as gaining access etc and yes on the rear arch it is double skinned so can be a real challenge to access. Thanks John! I see a lot of these frame protrusions usually on the edges of doors, so I get a lot of practice removing them. Hope you and the family are all well 👍👍👍

Excellent work! (Can PDR be utilised through a normal insurance repair?)..
@1st_track_dents2 жыл бұрын
Yes, some bodyshops will call a PDR tech in to carry out the work and I have in the past done work for a customer and they have claimed the repair cost back through their insurer. Not sure the complete ins and outs of it as I only deal with the public directly.

@@1st_track_dents it’s interesting that a lot of people choose to pay for minor crash repairs themselves instead of claiming accident insurance. I think because insurance companies charge such high excesses nowadays, plus usually increase the following years premium as a further penalty has started put a lot of people off claiming. Basically we have to pay them by law year after year anyway, and barring (god forbid) being involved in a more serious accident, they just keep our money!

@@philtucker1224 Yes, totally agree. Most PDR repairs in the UK are well below most peoples insurance excess and also some customers just like the fact that they don't have to lose their car for a few weeks at the bodyshop as I can turn up at their house or place of work and get their repair done within and hour or 2. Also a lot of people who value their car don't like the thought of their body panels being filled up with filler so this is a much better alternative if the paint isn't damaged. 👍

@german89242 жыл бұрын
@@1st_track_dents por eso te sugeria quizás en un Capot..que se puede ver de abajo... Otra cosa que casi no se muestra en los videos es, como se ejerce palanca con las varillas, cómo se enganchan los aros para palanquear con las varillas . Bueno q sigas bien. Felices pascuas. Abrazo
