Great, concise video. Plumber's pro tip that I learned: easier to remove old sink if you take the clips off first. Thanks very much.

Really great clear video thanks! I'm trying to save my sink and use it as we're having a new kitchen put in. People told me the sink would get damaged because they get glued in too well. This is great. :)

Be patient and keep working at the spots that are stuck. You might find that plumber's putty was used to make the seal. If that's the case, it will be fairly easy to remove compared to trying to cut the silicone from between the sink & the countertop.

Love this video. I am ordering a new countertop and wanted to use my existing sink. They are trying to talk me into buying a new sink as they said we will not be able to remove it.

Just be patient and carefully work it loose. You might even try heating up the lip of the sink with a hair dryer or a heating pad to soften up the adhesive.

Same. I've been looking to replace my old double bowl sink for a single yet spare my old countertop even though it really needs to go too! I've refrained from doing it for fear of damage to the existing countertop. My plan will be to use some heat for any stubborn areas if possible. It's definitely overdue to do it. Thanks for the vid. It may have given me that little nudge to choose a sink and facet and do it soon:)

I will try it using some heat on the stainless steel sink...you made it look worry free. Thanks for the tip Ms. Know How Now

You are welcome, best wished for the sink removal. Be careful with the heat if the countertop has glue holding laminate to the wood core. You might lift the laminate too.

@@Know-How-Now I'll be using a hair dryer very carefully. Thanks again

How do you remove a glass Kitchen Sink which is stuck to the worktop with sealant without damaging the worktop

I have those clips on the front. I don't know how they got them on. I can't see how to get them off.

I have a video that shows how to re install the sink. It might help you figure out your clips. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqmQdJR8j8aNkNk

@@Know-How-Now Thank You. I just got your response and have changed out my sink. The front clips I got of with a sawsall. Yea. My house is very old. The counter my parents must have put in some time. But between the counter and the old part underneath you could get at it. Problem is I can't put new ones in the front. The old sink and new sink have different clips. And the clip holders on the new sink come right over the top of the wood from the old part of the counter. If I have to I will go underneath and go crazy with liquid nail or something. I will wait and see what happens with the silicone I put on first. For not doing this before I think I did pretty good. It looks good. It doesn't leak. That's a good start.
@Know-How-Now4 жыл бұрын
You will likely be OK with just silicone. Mine took a bit of work to get it free from the countertop. You probably know this... use 100 % silicone. There are different kinds of clamps. Best wishes.

@@Know-How-Now I got the clear. It says for sinks. Where would be a good place to look for different clamps? I would like to get at least one up front.

I think I got mine at Lowes. I'd try local hardware stores first, it's always easier to see them "in person". If you strike out there, do an internet search. If have any local people that install kitchens they might help you out.

That sink sure looks like it has been there for a while :)

I think about 13 years. I kind of remember taking it out because I couldn't get the basket strainer lock nut loose. I had to take a hacksaw the the nut. It was likely a good thing because the previous seal between the opening and the sink was plumber's putty and it was dried up.

Gets right after it. Rather its what you needed or not, you find out quickly. (In my case it was) The last 2 video required alot of skipping around and TONS of unnecessary commentary about their lives and other appliances...[le sighs] Thanks from the viewers
