I took out this 1rst set because after 13 years I desired a change (plus, my locs where getting heavy.) I took out my 2nd set in Oct 2019 because I grew impatient with my length, gray hair, and loc “ugly stage.” However, now, I’m Completely committed.

Thanks for sharing this! My son wants locs, he has been very adamant about getting them but he changes his mind like the wind. I wanted to be sure if one day he doesn’t want them anymore his hair can be undone and without much loss because he has a full head of healthy hair. I’d hate for him to have to cut them out if he no longer wanted them.

I have interlocs A salon started my locs $440 barely had any hair. Ater them not showing up not being on time being high at my appointments leaving black dye on my forehead like a headband charging me $80 online but once got in chair going from $125 to $255 for maintenance because I went outside salons 4 to 7 week window. Having salon combine locks leaving chicken 🐓 feet all over my head. To my last 2 appointments leaving O shaped at the base of my lock to them winding my hair so then but the rest of my lock fatter. The salons have intentionally done my hair incorrectly. I refuse to go back. I gave each salon a little over 1 year had multiple people in my head because I switched but the first year couldn’t get the 1st salon people to show up on time or at all after they called and confirmed with me whether I be there every time confirming I would. I am done with locs because me trying to do them on my own I have not been able to do. My question for you is saw 1 person use a comb I did a few of my tips. But I’m afraid can I take down combined interlocs and the V chicken feet or do I need to cut the chicken feet off??? The last shop has wound my locs so tight at the root I’m afraid when I get to the root it will fall out because they wound it up like string. I paid for consults to review my locs I was told I had 2 many people in my head and it was they technique. Colorism still exist in these shops.

No problem. I’m in the process of removing my 19yr old son’s locs. I have only 12 more to remove. It’s the process has taken me 9 weeks because he is a student at the university which is 2 hours away. My son wants to maintain his hair length. His hair is currently styled in two French braids with a men’s uppercut. He loves it. During his Christmas break I was able to comb a lot of locs. Because he only has 12 more locks to remove (but I’m able to conceal his locs inside his loose hair when I French braid his hair) you can barely tell. My son doesn’t come home every weekend so who know when I’ll be able to completely comb out those remaining 12 locs. 😒🤣

Hey Jacquie! Thanks for watching! I would definitely take the loc journey AGAIN, as I am in the process of doing that right now, however, because of the weight of my previous “traditional “ locs, I’ve decided to go for “lighter” locs (Ex.: Sisiterlocks, Microlocs , interlocs, etc.) I now LOVE the look, texture and lightness (body, flow, and movement) of my current locs! ☺️😊☺️😊

I have locs too. But it is too high maintenance for me. I'm a wash and go/air dry type of person. You have to thoroughly dry your locs. It's too much for me. If I was gifted to do hair I can keep retwisting them when I have a lot of new growth. I usually go to the salon but the gov't shut down salons due to COVID-19. I'm going back to Dominican blowouts and bantu twist-outs.

I know this is old but I still hope you see it. I put in my own braidlocs about four months ago. I love them. My only regret is once my locs started growing and the roots started swelling they were much larger than I had anticipated...so I decided I wanted them smaller. The problem my the roots have already loced (and/or matted). I have about two inches of new growth. Having watched you do your takedown and realizing how tedious it was would you reccomend I cut them off down to the new two inch growth or save the length by slowly taking it down one at a time?I Thanks in advance for your response.

Thanks so much for sharing. I am considering locing my hair. At first I was so convinced it is the right thing to do but after seeing the stress there is in undoing it I'm so confused. With your experience, what would you advise I do please 🙏🙏
@Y2KDivaLocs3 жыл бұрын
Cleophas, it doesn’t take everyone 5 weeks to comb out their locks. It took me five weeks because 1) I had no help 2) at that time I was the set hours at my job was from 6AM until 6:30PM. I would get home at 7pm, it it took me anywhere between 2 and 2.5 hours to comb out ONE DREADLOCK. My locks were easily 9+ inches long, so please consider that. I literally was not on any timeline, deadline, nor had a tight goal date for completion. If you decide to comb out your locks leave at least an additional inch or two wiggle room (if you have a desired hair length in mind.) that additional once or two accounts for looks dead hairs and tangle or breakage when coming out locs. You’ve got this! Try to comb out one loc and see if you are reading to invest the time and commitment (that’s what I did) and I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with my natural hair length. If you don’t like the time or energy then you can always double-twist the unraveled loc and relock it. Blessings. Let us all know what you decide. The experience is very cathartic. I binged watch every single The Breakfast Club radio interviews. Find a documentary or interview show to binge watch while coming out your locs. You’ll be surprised at new artists (radio interviews) or new information (documentaries) that you learn about.

My mom gave me the idea a few months ago, I kinda want to do it but I don’t really feel like cutting all that length I grew. Even tho my body could never be patient, I’d rather sit for 10 hours than cut it. I think locks are cool, I mean I don’t mind it being cut at all actually. I just think long hair is more of what society wants, so that’s why I want that. Did u you have breakage? Or hair fall?

How to comb out locks without cutting? But you cut your hair in the video? your hair looked nice before and after you have beautiful hair.
@Y2KDivaLocs4 жыл бұрын
During my takedown comb out process I never cut my hair. It took me (5) long-@zz weeks to completely comb out my dreadlocks at the above-shoulder length that You see in the video. Without rewatching the video, I’m going to assume that you may have gotten confused with my backstory. My original hair length was mid-back , weeks prior to ultimately deciding to comb out my locs, I cut a few inches from my locs because they had become heavy. Months before I cut my length I had no intention of combing them out.

*This video is about combing out dreadlocks (debunking the myth that dreadlocks are permanent and can only be removed by cutting them out or shaving your head.) In this video I clearly demonstrated that you can remove or eliminate mature dreads without losing precious hair length. So regardless of how long my dreadlocks originally were, clearly, I able to successfully demonstrate the comb out method for any individual who was interested in removing their dreads, but wanting to maintain some of their natural hair length in the process. BEGINNING at mark 2:00. Thanks for watching , please share~
