+Chris Mason Did a little bit more work today getting it ready to pull out tomorrow. Made a mistake pulling all the bolts before taking it of the ramps lol. Leave the two lower bolts in till you are ready to hoist it out. Had to prop my engine up to lower it off the ramps because engine and box split already. Anyways it's fun to do :-)

Hey I swap my 4.7 in a dakota and I didn't label my bell housing bolt well I having trouble figure out which go on the top and which ones go on the bottom

If the Bolt almost reaches the other end of the hole its correct. For the blind holes cut some wire stick it in the hole and bend it over around the edge. These bolts need to be a bit shorter than the bent wire about 5mm I guess. You should be fine. Regards Rik

I'm looking for a little advice. I just purchased a 2002 wj and I noticed that it doesn't have the spacer plate between the engine and the transmission. I want to add one that I found online. I think I only need enough separation between the transmission and the engine pins to slide that thin piece of metal up into place. I'm guessing the transmission and the engine wont need to be more than an inch or two apart. Is this something I can do by leaving the motor in place and only maneuvering the transmission back a tad, or should I plan to move the motor? Do I need to disconnect everything (hoses, cables, crank position sensor etc)? Any thoughts?

I just had a look and you should not have to remove everything as it is not a full circle you could gently move the gearbox backwards only enough to slide it inbetween the two upside down and spin it over the right way up once it is over the crankshaft. You will need to remove the starter motor to be able to do this as it will be in the way. Disconect the tailshafts (propeller shafts) support the back of the engine so it does not drop down at the back while you do this. Use a trolly jack and use it to support the transmission then unbolt the transmission cross member and unbolt the gearbox from the engine and slowly pry them apart only enough to get the spacer in. The spacer has some bent over lips and cutting them off whill make sliding it in easier. I hope this helps. Regards Rik

Thank you so much! I hope your neck feels better soon. I don't want to bother you too much with questions but I am in the process of debugging someone else's rebuild mistakes on this jeep I bought. It should be a fun project and I hope successful as well. Right now I have a MASSIVE vacuum leak at the injectors and a misfire and transmission code. LOL. Your jeep is what I want mine to be like in due time. Thanks again for the advice and inspiration!

I might drop in from time to time to ask you opinions on what I am seeing if that is ok? Maybe it will help pass the time for you while you get back healthy :)
