This ugly frame bracket on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler has been bothering me for a long time. It's definitely one of the BIGGEST flaws on ALL 2023 Jeep Wranglers & Jeep Gladiators. My goal in today's video is to see if I can remove it.

That is interesting. My 2022 392 wrangler doesn't have that steel bracket. I am glad, I see why you took it off your Jeep. We picked our Jeep up in Late august, it was one that someone had ordered it, then backed out when it arrived. We got lucky, Sting grey with dual top and XR. Had to drive over two states, but that was okay. I kinda thought when saw your title, said biggest flaw, I thought you had found a bracket to move the rear license plate back up under the tail light and a rear bumper that is the same on both sides ! Before you throw that lift on the rig can you take some before measurements? Say from the ground to the door sill and perhaps ground to top of fenders through the center of the wheel? Looking to recreate the XR look on my incoming 4XE. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Yeah the Bronco Sasquatch intrusion bar omission is weird to me. Ford tests their standard vehicle with the bars to get the score they want, and omit them on a model they dont send in for testing. Kinda shady to me. I'd rather see them do something like Jeep does here. A PITA for sure, but at least you're straight up with your customers.

Its crazy to me too, they literally leave the brackets but remove the bars on the Sasquatch....

Only way for them to fit the larger tires due to the design of the body and frame. Flawed design is flawed.

I took mine off two months ago. I used a saw zaw after I removed all the bolts that I could access.

I do believe that plate is there as stated for crash bracket but I would assume it’s to prevent the start stop Battery from coming out in a crash

I think it was in response to the bronco having similar brackets.

That bracket would be overkill for a battery.... But stopping a tire in a crash makes more sense

It seems to me unless prior to putting it on there were a lot of issues with passenger side frontal crashes it's a solution in search of a problem.

I had to cut the bolts in order to get the bracket off my 2022 Wrangler Rubicon, and yes the bracket was Jeep’s answer to frontal crash rollovers.

You really got me there. I ordered a 23 rubicon with the extreme recon in earl clearcoat and I cannot for the life of me find what that color will really look like except some renders here and there. 😂😂

Just thinking - The bracket is supposed to be to protect the passenger front wheel coming into the passenger area of the vehicle in an accident. I'm wondering if you were to remove it and have an accident and the insurance company figures that out- they could possibly deny coverage? Insurance companies are notorious for weaseling out of paying claims.

Those are great ear muffs! Glad I didn’t have that bracket. I would have had to cut it off or unbolted it.

For anyone that removed this. Did just the bottom bolt need to be cut? Was there enough play to get out the top bolt once all the others were removed?

The top bolt needed cut more than the bottom!

Over time for those that don't remove that piece moisture will set in that unpainted area and rust will develop. That's mickey mouse straight from the factory.

I bought a 2023 wrangler 392 and it has that ghastly looking thing also. Can’t I just cut the bottom on it off and have the plate stay there but it will just be shorter and line up with the bottom of the jeep ?

Curious, if removing this would void or negate some insurance policies. If this piece is for safe operation of the vehicle.

Insurance companies will 100% have things like this looked at especially when the can see why rollovers happen on Jeeps and the manufacturers fixes for said rollovers. This is one of those things I see a few channels doing prior to it ever being proven a problem while out wheeling. I also don't see removing it and putting yourself at higher risk considering most people daily the car they wheel. He's had a bunch of Jeeps so maybe he just assumes it to be an issue, but until it has actually become an issue I'd leave well enough alone.

Honestly I'm not sure, being that the other 22 wranglers earlier in the year did not have this piece I don't think its that big of a deal.

@@PynkPwny Definitely something to consider , however any time you lift, modify, remove any other factory components it will also change the way the vehicle drives. Look at a lot of the trucks and IFS vehicles, when installing a lift larger than around 3 inches you have to cut away your front crossmember, I'd feel much less safe with that then removing this bracket.

@@DIRTROADCRED Oh definetly I'm not saying removing it is going to get you killed in a wreck, but I also want my insurance to pay my family LOFL. That aside they may not even look at any of that either who knows... I do agree that if it is an issue when wheeling and that is something you do regularly then removal is a necessity.

Since Jeep manages 10+ years a model, I’d say by 2030 the JM might be out, and electric will be an option I’d say

@@xyrothryu no way, 2030 is too far out. It should be closer to 2025-2026. Jeep sales will plummet if they stay with the same model until then.

Yeah, you’re gonna be waiting for a while, no reason for Jeep to rush the next model as it can’t keep the current one stocked at dealerships now. The Bronco hasn’t really threatened the brand much as it turned out to have serious design flaws in the IFS system.

Lol the ram is an old plow truck I use, it’s a 96 2500 with an 8 foot bed that gets used HARD lol

Mike, they are put on all 22's past a certain point, you were probably an earlier 22 and therefore were lucky enough not to have it!

My 2022 Gladiator Rubicon has it. Not sure what it’s build date was but I purchased it in June. I’m not too concerned about yet, and once I have larger tires and lift it should be even less of a concern.

It was a rollover mitigation tool not necassarily an afterthought especially when you'd have to do a ton of redesign on a frame or steering assembly. This is probably the best plan of action until the release a new model of Jeep and have the ability to fix the flaw going forward. The design should've been in place early from what I've read about why the tab is there now.

@@DIRTROADCRED for sure. all my knowledge is with pre 2000s cars, i dont know much about the computer stuff in anything after that. but i am a jeep fan through and through lol. i did a complete frame off rebuild on my yj twice now and can pretty much do it with my eyes closed. on the 08 i had, not so much lol. great video, look forward to further updates and videos on this project.
