How many times have I flown that path from Abaco to FXE? Believe me when I say it never gets dull watching videos of others doing it. Please tell me you stopped off at the famous Banyan Pilot Shop!

Nice Job flying the RNAV , makes flying the plane easier when the autopilot is helping and less pilot workload looking for the airport .. let the garmin take you to minimums then its the easy part .. landing !!!!

No question that the Garmin AP makes things so much easier on the pilot. That said, I find myself lately using the AP alot less on departures and approaches just to stay sharp in the event the AP fails (which has happened a couple of times). It's so good that it really can make you complacent and some of your piloting skills flying low and slow get rusty. That's what I'll be doing this morning...flying an approach into SMO using just the FD and my eyes, ears, and feet! Cheers-Ren

@@TheRenBaron good practice is vital to staying sharp .I use the auto when single pilot , its a great asset . I notice that you have the Map set north up , me I like track up , that way the overview of the plane on the map and the direction the plane is flying is the same , have fun at SMO , big storm heading to NYC to greet us here .. cheers

@@AidansAviationAdventures I'll use TRK UP from time to time as well. The flexibility to set the profiles for each pilot is terrific.

Ha-Flying into Florida from Kansas (and then to the Bahamas) we had to get ATC to repeat a way-point a few times, so I feel your pain, kept it in the video as a learning experience as well...

Really like your videos. Nice to see someone who records their screwups. Although you’re rarely perfect, your basically like me and probably the rest of us.
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
Definitely not perfect. Wait til you see the next video. Learning to fly seems to be a never ending process but one I really enjoy. Cheers-Ren

Loved it! I like the fact that you choose rnav 9. Way to be safe when you are not familiar with and area.

Loving these videos. I just started my PPL on sportys! Looking to fly with my dad in a cirrus one day.
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm glad you are enjoying them. I think its great you are learning to fly. I used the Sporty's course to supplement my studies as well. Hopefully that flight in a Cirrus will come sooner rather later. Cheers-Ren

What was your filed flight plan vs what they gave you, and did you buy the life vests and raft or rent them on your way to Bahamas? Nice video - thanks for making/ sharing!
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
Flight plan was what we filed. We own the life vests as we fly over water quite a bit out of Santa Monica Airport (KSMO). The life rafts we rented from Banyan Air Services at KFXE.
