Watching this, I remembered what Ren said in his 1 Million sub video: “If you’re watching this and there’s a knot tied up in your stomach with bitterness, anger, or hatred for your fellow human being, be with it. Feel it. Understand it. Express it, and then let it go.” I saw this song as Ren practicing what he preached. He vented (artistically via fiction), now he can let it go and move forward.

People are hungry for Justice in this day and age, and they know the old society is broken. The court system is currupt. Lawyers usually represent only Admiralty Law of commerce, law of the sea. As opposed to Common Law, moral law, or law of the land. So, if people loose their moral compass and go after people for a quick buck, using lawyers, media company hidden clauses, industry grifts to take from creative people who just want to contribute to culture. Then, a genius type like Ren takes it back to "common law" and uses the court of public opinion to judge the matter. He created one piece "Sick Boi" from the bottom of his souls anguish and was rewarded with money, for his artestry. Then comes a greedy couple plus a greedy lawyer and get unreasonable. So, Ren did the absolutely right thing: self-defence on the "land", in the "street", where the ancient cults gaming of us, commoditizing everything, got hoisted by their own pattard. Ren got millions of views on "Kujo Beat Down" in a blink of an eye. Prooving that he was the better man, having extended an olive branch with his "collaboration solution proposal", which was rejected. Now, Kujo and company are forced to eat crow, settle for nothing, and watch the master of dark wit make money without them. Justice is served! Case closed. It can't go further because all the information is out in public, and the people decided. Not old babalonian cult judges still trying to game us for profit. That's what it is! I fully agree with you for the reasons above. He gamed the whole system.

True, though 'turn the other cheek' and 'an eye for an eye...' are not opposing positions, mainly because an eye for an eye is probably one of the most misquoted sayings from the Bible, as I believe the full quote is 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth solves nothing'! Conveniently, people miss off the 'solves nothing' part, presumably so they can say they have a God-given right to retaliate... which even given my limited knowledge of the Bible seems an odd thing for it to say 🤔😅

@@oopsdidItypethatoutloud it'd be a good look for them, they are caught in a bit of crossfire here with a bit of ambiguity on how hard they are specifically going after Ren over Kujo for the stolen sample. Obviously they can make a lot more money that way, but the justice of it would be a normal agreement they'd have with a beatstar artist over what they'd take from ren post-popularity (which the law would let them claim for the theft). I'd like to see them come out conclusively on the right side of the situation and grouping up can help them remake that money in a more honorable way, but my guess is the ongoing conflict may prevent that.

Exactly my thoughts. We all know Ren is a very gentle, humble and kind human being. And he was to them as well, and they chipped him down bit by bit. Most of us would break into rage sooner, but he tried to be kind to them, help them. But they crossed the line, even for Ren, and that's not an easy feat to achieve. And what did he do? He made music. Yes, brutal, savage, raw rage. And he got it out artistically, and he is done with it. I was honestly shocked by the sheer brutality, but he said it himself, he needed to get it out, so he got it out somehow. Being aggressive is not good, holding it in is not good. Both extremes are unhealty. And getting rid of frustration artistically and creatively is one of the healthiest ways I can think of. Yes, it is brutal, yes, I feel both good and bad when I hear it, and there will be people who will take it as a call to arms to spit hate. But vast majority of Ren's fans are going to just say "nice beat, stay strong" and that's it. And for someone who has violence in his songs, it speaks volumes to attract such a fanbase. Ren is one of the nicest person I know, his fanbase is nice as well, he is a good example for us. And this is a good example as well. Be kind, but don't let people take advantage of your kindness. And be true to your principles. As he said, this song is angry, but I don't think that his fanbase will now go after Kujo. We move on, waiting for Sick Boi to be reborn. And I think Ren gave them a pretty good spanking in the song, I think that's more than enough for them, no need to go any further. (And I sincerely hope that they themselves won't go any further, nobody wants part two, they tried, they lied, they played the money game and they lost, now let bygones be bygones and move on.)

Here is my take on this song. Ren again shows how we should deal with emotions, in this case righteous anger. Just like in Hi Ren, he has an inner dialogue, which shows his thinking when dealing with this situation. For a long time he maintained his positive attitude that everything would be resolved in a way that both could be satisfied with. So many olive branches he offered to no avail. In the process, his frustration and anger naturally grew and thus also the dark side of his personality. But notice that he has always had that side under control! When the time was right, that side asked for permission to take over, the light side gave permission and they both merged into one. "So cower at the man I've become, when I sing from the top of my lungs That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire, inspire the weak to be strong". And he does inspire me to dare to show my anger instead of letting it eat me up inside and to stand up for myself when someone has wronged me. I only wish I got to know Ren when I was much younger. So many times in my past life I had benefited greatly from his example. My admiration and respect for this man has only grown stronger over the 18 months I've followed him. He is not only intelligent, he is also incredibly wise. The fact that he can also be both playful and silly only makes him even more lovable.

What I needed to learn through years of therapy is, it is very healthy to express your anger. You need to do it otherwise you boil over at some point. You just need to find the right way to vent. And Ren truly found it. He got out all his feelings of anger, now he can focus on what needs to be done from the legal/real life side.
@Cvusmo2 ай бұрын
"Art from the start, see what I did there." LOL that was awesome Edit 1: 13:33 hands down the best reaction I've seen on youtube. The way you just explained anger and how it's viewed by society was wonderful. I'm a veteran with PTSD and it took me a very long time to understand this. I'd get stuck in that loop of getting angry, feeling guilty for being angry, then being angry that I feel guilty. Once I understood it's okay to feel angry and ways to express my anger in a healthy way, things balanced out and I feel healthier as a man. Probably add more as I watch your reaction. Edit 2: 13:50 What do the people in the choir represent? I think that's an incredible question you brought up. What I think of the choir represents the damage greed causes to others. One persons greed, steals and kills life out of others. I think thats why we see the choir dead to represent the damage that Kujo and Ren's situation has created. You also see how Ren was in the chair tied up and enslaved himself. It doesn't single out Kujo as the prime evil in the situation. It takes shots at Kujo and holds him accountable for things he said as well as the things his girlfriend said. But the deeper shot taken is at the heart of the issue which is greed. 19:31 Freedom of speech is inherent in all cultures and societies. The culture decides that it is not what you say, but how you say what you say that determines consequence of action. If you're willing to accept that what you say will be judged by others and interpreted by the culture you live in, and you may face consequences for it, then you truly can say whatever you want to say. Ren's song and video "Kujo Beat Down" is the perfect example of this in action. He takes his emotions from this situation, expresses it in an artistic and healthy way, then releases it publicly. He says exactly what he wants to say. He's accepted there's consequences due to the culture he lives in which is why in his disclaimer he says that he will handle things personally. There's far too much fear in society surrounding being able to say something you believe or want to say. Much like you discussed earlier, the pendulum of society has shifted to the extreme of self-interest and what feels good. The more others are told they are not able to express themselves and say what they want to say, the more things get worse. I'd rather someone get things off their chest and communicate in a healthy albeit messy way than let it fester and choose to take an action to remedy some issue. Far better to talk it out and confront those feelings than to take an action of which you cannot take back. Again, absolutely loved your reaction and really enjoyed the questions you posed. 10/10!

I think this is a perfect expression of that pendulum. Eternally swaying from the dark to the light. The brighter the light shines the darker the shadiw it casts. Ren is dancing and swaying with that pendulum. It swung all the way to the dark for this, but he's still dancing and alllowing the darkness to have its moment. I LOVE when someone can artistically relay that taking one's kindness for weakness is worthy of aggressive correction, especially when a peace offering has been refused and the moral high ground spat upon. Ren's response was not "too far", it was required.

As a Narrative Therapy Practitioner, in my view this diss track was an incredible cathartic release through therapeutic art in form of brilliant lyrics, orchestration, production and visuals! Ren's entire career is built on lifting others up and being in service to the voiceless. to me Ren demonstrated how to take one's power back when it was stolen!

I think the people in white gown slaughtered represent the people who connected and got strength from the song Sick Boi, all the people that song helped... and this whole ordeal now taking that song and hope and feeling seen and heard away from those people.

They represent the Bulgarian Choir who were illegally sampled, and are presumably killed out of any future versions of Sick Boi. Or maybe their death symbolizes the fact that Kujo did not deal legally with them, and killed their rights.

A choir that sings for the people, especially songs that resonate with the Bulgarian community-be it folk or anthem-holds a deep cultural significance. This mirrors the connection Rens fans felt with the song "Sick Boi," a powerful anthem that spoke to their struggles. The removal of "Sick Boi," a song that gave hope to many and potentially even saved lives, feels like a silencing of those voices. The death of "Sick Boi" has symbolically erased the innocence it represented, with Kujo and his girlfriend bearing responsibility. Just as killing/silencing a choir erases the spirit of a nation, taking away "Sick Boi" feels like an attack on Rens fanbase.

I think he’s perfectly entitled as an artist, & an individual, to express himself, & to use his creativity as a cathartic release. It’s unfair of us as fans to place him on a pedestal & expect him to never show “negative” emotions as we might perceive them. All along he’s shown us a dichotomy within his psyche, which is what made Hi Ren such an authentic, visceral piece, & why I think so many people relate to him. He demonstrated that duality of the -ve inner voice we all have so well. While it’s uplifting to see him reach an inner balance in Hi Ren & for “hope to prevail” he very specifically said that this song is not Hi Ren 2, in fact it’s quite the opposite. I respect him for turning this -ve experience into something +ve by exercising creativity as an outlet; more so since he’s been very clear that he’ll not tolerate any bullying from his fans. I thinks it’s quite obvious that there’s a lot of symbolism in the video, which was great & so well done. The choir is a reference to the Bulgarian choir, who were illegally sampled. They are singing the word “sample” but I can’t make out their other words. They are killed off during the song because Sick Boi was pulled & he said he’ll not use the sample. So he metaphorically “killed them off” to show that part’s finished with. At one point you see Ren & Kujo switch places & Ren is tied up right before the pig mask makes an appearance. I think he’s trying to show that although in the song he has Kujo tied up, he was also being held to ransom because they were trying to use his song as leverage. I think in general REN’s fans respect him for his authenticity & transparency. He seems to be a lovely bloke & it appears that he tried everything he could to resolve this situation amicably. It’s really unfortunate that this happened. Perhaps Kujo was poorly advised as you suggest, but the more I see I really don’t think that that’s the case. He’s even claiming songwriting credits for Sick Boi on his BeatStars profile & all the behind the scenes nonsense in comments etc was done without lawyers. I think this song was Ren dealing with the experience in a very creative, mentally healthy way. Sometimes anger is justified but it’s how you express it that demonstrates whether you’re a balanced individual. Great song Ren. I enjoyed your reaction as always Rosalie. Much love xx

The more I hear from Ren the more I realize his Solution is to be a Teacher Opening the Eyes of Millions with his Art and his Heart! And I think Ren's message is Crystal Clear. Ambition and Passion Without Compassion Will Cause the World To Burn! But Ambition and Passion WITH Compassion Can Save It! But When Compassion Becomes a Target for Other's Greed, then the Truly Compassionate Must Stand Up and Acknowledge that Injustice and Greed Must be Confronted and Addressed!

No, he didn't cross the line for me. Music is a way to express and deal with emotions. It's like talking to a therapist or writing in a diary. I relate and think it's amazing how Ren shows what reall emotions are. That doesn't mean he acts on them in that way, but he can still feel this way on the inside. Ren shows the emotions he went through. We all have them but not everybody wants to admid that that is what's going on inside our heads in public but It's part of being human. It doesn't mean your a bad person. It's the dance of dark and light, excepting that both exist in us and that both sides are needed for protecting your sense of self. I'm proud of Ren because he is not afraid to show what it's like to be human in the most honest way I've ever seen. It's beautifull. It's also inspiring to see how he was handeling this situation in reall life inspite of how it made him feel on the inside. Btw. I wouldn't call this a diss track. Diss tracks are about competition. Who writes the smartest insults. This track isn't about competition, like with Dotta. This is about letting the air out. 😘😘

Wow loved your reaction and breakdown, Ren stayed true to his self here he has been transparent with everything from his lifes journey and all that he has been through good or bad he shows it all he has never strayed away from his belief that there is no place for greed and how people can get with the money game he had every right to be angry he puts everything into his music and for someone to take that for greed I can see that he should be angry and then to gaslight him in the process is even worse. Kujo took Rens kindness for weakness and Ren is showing that was a mistake on his part. As always your ride or die forever Eyyyyy Oooooo

Part two is very clearly talking about a law suit of they keep lying. In his previous video talking about the whole situation he said at the end he would sue if they didn't stop spreading lies and defaming him. The line at the end "If I ever read another fucking comment from you then this is only part one, it's even worse in part two". This is in line with the end of his explanation video where he said a very similar thing that if they posted again he would sue.

Sick Boi is a part of Ren. I’m an artist as well, and if a very personal piece that I poured myself into was being threatened into oblivion I would die a little inside. That song is REN’S!! Can you imagine how devastating it must have been for him to take it offline? His own personal piece of work, and others want to use it as a tool to push his hand for $$$. F*ck that. Sick Boi will always be out there and it will always be Ren’s.

It's how he feels inside that's all, which is cathartic I'm sure. He doesn't shy away from expressing his genuine feelings. But wise enough to say, it's not advocating aggression. So much rap glorifies violence in the real world, almost advocating for it. Ren expressing his inner rage, people would have to deliberately take it as advocating violence of any kind. The Renegades know different... obviously. ❤ from Northeast England ❤️

This song track reminds me of the psychopath from the movie Conair. In the movie, the perspective is that the psycho is so dangerous that even the most hardened criminals are scared of him. This makes them look more human than they really are. Then at the end of the movie, he is sat down playing with the little girl. It is at that moment you realise he is not the dangerous one…it is us, the judgemental ones, who are dangerous.

Hi Rosalie, first I love your humor from minute 28:57 until 29:13 - it was so funny and adorable! Then I would like to recommend to you Knox Hill's reaction, because he was with Ren during a certain time when all of this happened. He explains very well some of the references with profound background knowledge. Last but not least your honest, psychological analysis are great for educating the public conscience in why and how emotions affect our behaviour as also how important it is, to take the responsibility for our actions.

After what Kujo did to Ren, understandably he is pissed off and mad as hell! REN is HUMAN and putting him in a box of "Mr Nice guy" only is not fair nor rational! The Kujo Beatdown is a masterpiece of Ren's strenght and tolerance to Kujo's greed. It's rap music, and there will be anger due to situations after all...it's ART! Demographic/regional factors are definitely visible with this analysis! WoW this reaction was overboard in wild ways 🤯.

I think Ren was kinder to them than many others would have been. He also made it clear that, wvwn when giving into his rage, words would be his weapon and not actual violence: "let me cut this worm with my razor blade pen." I also think he had darker, much more angry ideas in mind and deliberately held back so as to not cross a line. Hence his reference to part 2 being worse. Looking at the entire situation, and even giving Kujo the benefit of the doubt as far as the legalities, so many of his actions were unwarranted and he should have known better. He failed to disclose the sample in the beat he sold and represented it as his own. He violated the KZbin ToS and issued a false copyright strike against Ren's channel. Even if there was an issue with the publishing and properly crediting the beat for that short time, giving him claim for a violation of contract, that isn't something that should be handled by issuing a copyright strike, and it's illegal to issue a false strike. Then his girldlfriend falsely represents the contract, defaming Ren. Ren went above and beyond in trying to work something out with Kujo and make sure everything was right, and Kujo refused. I don't blame Ren for being angry, and I think handling it through his art, expressing raw emotions the way he does, is admirable. He has shown a level of maturity that many people twice his age never will, and his openness and the self-reflection that is so clearly evident in his art speaks to people because his emotions are a symptom of the human condition. He shows us it's okay to _feel,_ and to feel so deeply. And instead of lashing out in true violence, he directs those emotions into his art. He's an incredible artist, and I am thankful that he is willing to share his experiences. His art has literally saved lives and given people hope that things will get better. I really think his lyrics are incredibly deliberate, and have much more meaning than you might think on a first listen. For instance, when he warns Kujo not to talk about him again, "out in public then it's public you don't want that again." It's a reference to what Ren said about them accusing him of taking the entire issue public and sending his fans to harass them, when they were already posting publicly before Ren knew what was going on.

Brilliant reaction! Insightful and fair. I feel if anyone watched Ren's explanation it is very clear that this IS him getting the anger out and also that he tried multiple ways of resolving the conflict - all of which were rejected and met with publically stated lies and misrepresentation. Yes, I think Kujo had v bad advice and not sure how old he is or how savvy about the industry but he blanked or was utterly silent after all the offers of calm resolution, collaborating, making much more money than he could ever have from Sickboi, raising him up, and even friendship. He had no other options left and was then, after all that, being defamed/slandered/libelled by Kujo and girlfriend. Ren is letting off the steam here and is now clear of it, I think. Cannot be underestimated what this did to him - that particular track as the title song of his no 1 album has affected his livelihood, his mental and physical health (just as he'd returned from 18 months of treatment) and the all important streaming numbers for it - LOWERING the status of the ENTIRE ALBUM in terms of plays/rankings/it's position in the world and more. The repercussions go way beyond just the track itself. And I believe that because one is in the spotlight - and we know Ren holds himself super accountable and accepts his responsibilty so much as public figure with platform - it should not mean you lose your freedom to express any emotion in art; that you are morally obliged to be the better person, though Ren so often is, and was indeed trying to follow his own strong ethical principles here too but was not met with like minds and the attempts failed. People do not have to watch and are actively asked NOT to join in his personal fight. My 10 pence worth! Anyway - Great response, woman! Pippa (in the UK).

This was a great deep dive Rosalie, I watched the release a little late (4am for the live was a bit of a stretch). Ren chose a constructive outlet for his anger and frustration here I think. He is justifiably upset, annoyed, angry. As are many of the RENegades I think. But his response to this entire mess has been reasonable I think, I loved the reference to the Bulgarian choir too who were also dragged into all this as well. As he said this was different to the whole King Dotta situation, this one I think really really hurt so an equal response was required.
