Thank God, 100’s of reactors have reacted to this song but no one else has got close to really understanding the acapela input into this song or its’ production values. Ren has a PURE southern ENGLISH accent not WELCH at all. His mum was english his dad welsh. Where Ren lived in Wales is only 1hr from Cheshire England. Rens grandmother is from Brighton. Ren lived in Bath also (south England). Ren is proud to be welsh but does not sound welsh when he speaks he sounds English. Like many welsh people. Only really southern wales has a strong accent. Ren's voice is naturally cracking and pitchy. He is also a great actor and can slip into cadence change at will.

Ren has an English accent to my Scottish ears,definitely not Welsh. But he’s been living in England since his early twenties

He does have a light accent from north Wales (north Welsh accents are very different compared to south and sound a bit like dirty Liverpudlian) but yeah he's predominantly English sounding most of the time

His parents were both English and I think some of his childhood friends were from English families too. Might explain why, alongside the fact that he's lived in Southern England his entire adult life. You're right though, on accent alone, you wouldn't have a clue that Ren was Welsh. He sounds entirely English. Pretty generic southern English, with the odd London of Mancunian (his dad was from Manchester) inflection and intonation. Not a hint of Welsh, despite our Welsh Renegades desperately wanting to hear it. :)

​@Codex7777 it's kind of understandable that Welsh and Scots want their compatriots to he acknowledged. I don't think a lot of English people realise how much England dominates the UK. It's not anti English. I find it refreshing that Ren mentions personalities like Sean Connery, or Yoko Ono.

What you call "cadence" in poetry we call rhyme and metre and within rhyme you have rhyme schemes and syllable schemes like iambic pentametre. It's a word to describe rhythm and the rhythm is measured by clusters of syllables called "feet". So what it all boils down to is that rappers are spoken poets often utilising rhyme, rhythm and metre without knowing any of the specifics. They just put things where it sounds like they belong. It's like when we speak English, we may not know the order of sentence or even think about it when talking but we can spot where it doesn't sound quite right even though we might not have to terms to describe why. Like the quick brown fox, instead of the brown, quick fox. Why does one sound "better" than the other? Because of how we build sentences. Same with poetry. You can read a poem or hear a song and know where a word is added that breaks the pattern of the flow.

Love the mister lane he is is great wordplay as well with the miscellaneous. Wordplay is the most fun of a song to me as well but love how perceptive your ears are to these things. Lots of reluctance to praise and damning with faint praise. It's almost as if there's some jealousy towards Ren's success underlying your reaction. Less so from Anthony Ray. Ren's not trying to win a beatboxing competition. He's doing what feels right, to him, for the song and sometimes just having fun. He knows what he's doing and understands that less is usually more. You could fill a track with complex beatboxing and, while the beatboxing may be great, the track wouldn't be. It's the same reason Ren employs a light touch to his production and enjoys doing live, one take, often acoustic, sets.

You watched a completely different reaction to me. He even said "it's very simplistic beatboxing but it does the trick". And he even criticised other beatboxers for not wanting to be more simplistic, and for sticking to complex stuff.
