The thing is, look at rens life, rens real life videos and reels. the dude has been active on social media for years- and most of his friends grew as artists with him. ren doing a broadway show wouldn't be nearly the same as him producing a video with sam - a childhood friend. and the actor of kujo was the bass player in message in a bottle. he has his peeps he trusts with his life and vice versa. its so beautiful.

Only one transition when he's wheeled in front of the strings. He needed to move the mic due to the rain.
@mikesimpson18663 сағат бұрын
And because the water part was a major risk. If there was an issue and the suit got wet they would have had to redo the entire video on a separate day. Knox talks about it being a few thousand pound custom suit so they only had the one. Once it got wet they would need a day to dry it. The rain went mostly right except for the player on. The far left getting wet. She was a real trooper to not flinch or do anything to ruin the shot trying to protect her instrument. Your statement is still valid about the mic.
@sharis90952 сағат бұрын
There were 2 shots. Before the strings and after. They had to break because Ren had to move the mic from the jacket to tie (and waterproof it). There may have been 1 at the mirror - seems to be contested. I don't think it matters - 1 or 2 or 5, it's just brilliant.

So I've seen posts the ALW comment wasn't real but it looked legit to me, it said Ren "is one of the most unique songwriters and storytellers I've seen in recent times. Hope to see this album at number one." I know the Sinead O'Connor's was legit because it was reposted by Ren. It said "Holy motherfucking SHIT! Someone just showed me this at the weekend. This archangel from like, twelfth heaven or somewhere, has only gone and made the entire history of songwriting and performing look like a three year old's birthday party at Burger King." It's high praise, but well deserved.

Is there anything this guy can't do? I read a great commetn somewhere: If Ren were to take off from the ground and fly, everyone would just say, "Of course he can fly. And better than most birds, of course." 😀 There are two great hidden references to the other parts: The melody hummed in part 1 is played by the violins. And of course the chorus "rain, rain, rain" shown without words. There are two great behind the scenes videos by Wolf Johnson. I guess you'll like "ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS - Defining success" by Ren.

I'm sure that other people will comment too - to answer your questions. But the 2 main things to know. 1) There was a single cut - when the camera went behind the wheelchair, and it was required for technical reasons, partly because they had to move the mic to his tie as he takes his jacket off and puts it on the table, but also the mic needed to be waterproofed because of the rain ("oh rain, rain, rain, a storm it comes our way") and 2) I don't know how many takes it took, BUT they had a single day to shoot it, and because of the length of time it would take for the floor to dry and his suit to dry - they only had one shot at the final part. I think he's up to 4 awards for this video at this point. If you want to see Ren play piano - and somehow still make you FEEL without ever saying a single word the whole time - Mackay, it's such a stunning performance. Oh and as for a broadway show - his hope, is a Netflix show, something where he can tell stories in the vein of this and Jenny, Screech and Violet's tales. But sadly - he has to get well first.

As I mentioned earlier, NOW, If you watch part 1 again and hear the line "Turns a Saint into a Sinner, a Child into a Killer..." you realise you just met Jimmy. Then, the parallel of the Rain and the Storm in both, in part 1, "The Establishment" (Ren) is unable to subdue the population, loses the protection (the Poncho) realises the situation, and as a consequence "Burns" (also confirmed by the "Number 10 Downing Street" line in 2)..... Then we see the parallel with Jimmy returning unprotected during his own storm, with no way out... and a similar consequence. . And they were released 4 years apart, were they written at the same time, or was part 1 even MORE impressive as a seed for 2 and 3?

I was so looking forward to seeing you react to this one! It did not disappoint. I loved your genuine enjoyment! I knew you would love it! It is worth listening to with the goal of just focusing on the music. How he starts humming the original “money game” music at the beginning. How the piano gets faster and hits a frenetic pace as things get crazier in Jimmy’s life. Where the piano becomes less beautiful and more minor and discordant as things get darker. How the strings start playing the money game theme that he was humming in the beginning. The piano and strings are all telling the story at the same time as the words. Fun fact. When he gets the phone call, the spinning globe stops, just as he finds out his father is dead and his world stops. And the globe stops in South America which references the drugs and cartels. But it was all 100% coincidence. There was an interview with Sam and Ren and they said it was perfect but there was no way they could have done that without maybe paying to get the globe automated or something. Cool coincidence though! Even though the original Money game theme is referenced in the music, it is in the background and you really aren’t brought back to them the way “Rain rain rain is brought back from 1 to 2. I truly think that is what makes the last line so powerful. Of course it’s powerful because Ren says he pulls the trigger. But he sings it in the original tune and you get the connection from the other songs immediately. It takes the ending from wow! To chills.

Oh rain rain rain rain… The first time I saw this during the premiere I just sat in shocked silence afterwards and the only coherent thought I could think was that if Netflix doesn’t give this master storyteller his own show, they’re fools. Since then one of the things that gets me the most is the father telling a FIVE YEAR OLD to learn to be a man. No child at that age should think about anything but being a child. Far too many reactors let that part slide, but it really says so much about the toxic parenting. If you let those first words from the father properly sink in, it’s not so surprising that things only get worse from there. Unfortunately, Jimmy ends up living for his father’s approval. He hangs on his every word and follows his guidance so much that he gets completely lost when the father is no longer there. So instead of finding freedom, he spirals. And Jimmy is just an exaggerated version of all of us. It could be anyone under the money bag, blinded by greed, with the wrong guidance and pressure. Ren makes it so painfully clear that we really must instill the right values in children before it’s too late. And we all need to do better TOGETHER if we don’t want greed to destroy us all. So much wisdom, and he shares it all through clever rhymes, genius storytelling, and beautiful music. A truly special artist and one that the world needs 🐰🕳️ I doubt we will ever see a broadway show by Ren. At least not with him in it. Seems unlikely with his health issues. However, he does have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as the tales. The plan has been delayed though first due to Ren accidentally making an unplanned album and now further with his health taking a dive (which has delayed the album too). But someday hopefully… Also just a little info to end this on a lighter note: there is one cut when the camera goes behind the wheelchair. Just the one. And it’s for practical reasons because Ren only had the one custom suit and could hardly make everyone involved wait for it to dry between takes 😅 And really, that section is still pretty long to have to practice and nail to perfection. The entire video is just a masterpiece in direction, coordination, and execution to fulfill a vision. No wonder Sam and Ren have won multiple awards for it.

It's almost a 1 take... there is a single cut when the camera rotates behind him in the wheelchair. When you check out the "Murderer" video from Ren, try to figure out where the 2 cuts are... once you see the glitch you cant unsee it... but it's still smooth as hell to continue a difficult tracking shot. And of course the video and song itself, well, kills.

He and Samuel had plans for making a pitch for Netflix or similar, unfortunately, all these things go on hold whenever Ren is ill. Even when he is going through a healthy phase, he has so much he wants to achieve he is a bit like a tornado, circling around and picking up speed as he goes. Unfortunately, it all came crashing to a halt these past few months when illness took the wind from his sails again. Regardless of what all his fans want to see from Ren, he has dreams of his own which he needs to pace himself to achieve. Where next on your journey into Ren's catalogue....?
