Chris, it’s okay. I see the mental struggle and suicide videos you react to. It’s hard, and that’s okay. In my personal experience of mental illness, you communicate the tough stuff. You say the right things. And you get the message out. And, this is key. You don’t stop. You haven’t shied away from a song titled “Suicide”. Thank you. Be blessed.

The two lines in the middle of the first part, "sick boy, sick boy, bitten by a tick boy," and "I feel like its not me, it's the world that's sick" are audio and video samples from his song "Sick Boi." It's a good piece. I won't ruin it by saying more than that.

This one.....hurt. It took me a bit to realize that this is a GIFT of perspective. There are many who are so lost in the depths of despair. That they can't see a hand, friend or those around that love them. This was an intensely personal glimpse into the pain that a loss such as this creates. Yeah, it hurt. It was supposed to. But, if it helps just ONE person take a moment to think about how their loss WOULD affect those around them. It was well WORTH the pain. Thank you Ren, for sharing. Thank you Larry, this was special.

I have dark thoughts sometimes. Have had them my whole life. Maybe that's why Rens art hits me so hard. Back to Hi Ren, when he says; I'm the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope. Then the pendulum...swaying from dark to light, and how the light casts bigger shadows... Ren is able to put what it feels like so eloquently into words. He is really a gift to those of us struggling to keep going. I broke down the other day. I cried on my way to work. Cried on my breaks. Asked myself tbe quations ; why do I bother, when does it stop being so difficult, when will I have the strength to choose happiness? Then I listened to this song for the first time last night, and it reaffirmed for me, why we have to keep going... the thought of hurting the people I love, is too much to bare. My children. Their father. My, father....my best friend.... So, I'm gonna be here tomorrow. I just wish I wasn't so sad. I don't know how to turn it off. So, I'll just keep searching, I guess.

This is my interpretation of the (fibonacci/double dutch) section of Ren's spoken word poem. The fibonacci sequence being (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, ...). It's a mathematical sequence that when drawn out, is an ascending spiral that appears in many patterns throughout nature, also known as the Golden Ratio or Godly form. It's something beautiful & yet has no rational explanation of how it appears in many different parts of nature. Double Dutch in British English, literally means nonsense /gibberish. So what he's poetically saying is that he sees the world as both polar opposites, unexplainable natural beauty & never ending nonsense.

I've been forced to play the "if only" game, since the end of April, when my cousin took her life. I find the song triggering and soothing, at once. I have lost with her also my 49 yo innocence and the idea that we wre indestructible. I still cry almost every day, and it's been 2 months... It's unfathomable, even if we now know more about her motives, issues, reasons. None of them seem valid. But I can't be mad at her (like I was with my friend, 20 years ago when she chose that path). I saw my cousin's remains, and even in death, she looked so, so sad. RIP ❤Martina❤

I’m almost 30 now and I’ve tried to end my life so many times in the past. I was almost successful a few times. Unless you’ve been in the mindset you’ll never get it I guess. Technically it goes against every instinct you have as sentient being to want to end your life. You see in tunnel vision and when you think of others around you, your mind tricks you into believing that your doing them a favour. ‘They might mourn but at the end of the day they’re better off without having to worry about you’. I still struggle everyday but I’m engaged and I’m happy, i see a future with babies and grandchildren 🥰 I just needed to say this because saying ‘you owe this to -whoever-‘ will actually make a hopeless person feel worse and push them more. I’m not talking for all survivors but for me and the many other’s I’ve known. I’m only spreading awareness not negativity 🥰

The first part of this song was about him and his contemplation of su!clde due to his struggle with lyme disease. But the song wasn't complete. He did an interview with Knox and realized he still has issues grieving for Joe and went back to the song so the second half was him talking about his survivors guilt of not getting to him on time.

There's no fixing or explaining an unexpected death. You can't logic or comfort it away. I lost my son almost two years ago. In moments of silence, It hits me worst. Even the thought of trying to wish him back stings like a knife. The ache is both a longing and a charring of my wound at the same time. There is nothing I can do to bring peace, but I refuse to let go of the pain because the loss is all I have left of him. I sometimes dream of the future that he will never see, knowing that he could accomplish it. There is no comfort. There is only the occasional wince I feel when I see a potential memory I could have had. Those who have lost someone so dear are in a small group that will slowlly drip tears of pain until they are once again with their loved ones.

I know you don't like to hear language like that but... FUCK... that hits hard. Especially to someone who almost made that one last step as well. There was a highway underneath in my case... Thanks so very much for reacting to songs like this. Loved the reaction!!! P.S. I tried to tell my mom about all this but I just couldn't, I choked... and changed the subject before I even started it. I never talked to her about any kind of emotions, struggles or anything like that because I thought it's a sign of weakness and I wanted to be tough to make her feel safe, to protect her from everything, especially my dad... So there's nothing else to do than... I promise I'm gonna tell her by the end of the week...

@@larryshair I did it. I told my mom, and I kinda regret it. I told her that I'm dealing with diagnosed depression, that I was taking antidepressants for couple months and I'm going to therapy sessions every week for seven months now. I told her how it started, and pretty much how it went down from there. I told her that I found a friend online who saved my life, gave me the strength to finally ask for help and he is just there to lift me up when I need it the most. I was so proud of myself for finally telling her all that, it took huuuge weight off of my shoulders... and then she replied with something like "ok, we all have problems, thanks for telling me" and changed the subject. She didn't even shed a tear... F**k! that hurt! a lot... What was I expecting... talking about emotions? In our home? Pff... forget it... I went through all this shit for her, I didn't want her to burry her son... guess she wouldn't care after all...

I normally skip over the talk in the beginning (sorry) but the reason this song means so much to me is because i personally knew someone that commited suicide. And when you read rens article and mentioned the Birthday of the friend he‘s singing about my heart sunk because that‘s the death date of the friend i personally knew. Damn.

Great reaction as always. Hoping to see more reactions of Ren. You have just scratched his surface. And he was not exaggerating with the 5 muns thing. He tells the story in his community posts. He got a call from a friend that had been in contact with Joe while he was on the bridge. Ren only lived a 10 minute walk away (he figured he could run it in 5) he threw on clothes and ran while trying to call him. The line was busy he figured that was good because it meant he was still talking to someone. When he got about to the end of the bridge it changed from a busy signal to out of service.... He figures we was about 2 minutes too slow. A heavy weight to bear and let go of..... Seriously though keep going with Ren, you haven't even got to his rap! He has sooooo many songs that I bet my life on you loving them.

Amazing song and video. "The treading on the tracks in the nighttime" line got me, because one of my cousins was hit by a train at night nearly 30 years ago. He actually survived, after breaking nearly every bone. He was walking too closely to the train tracks while walking home from a bar, very drunk. The family all assumed it was just an accident, but he would admit years later that he was out there by the train tracks because he wanted to die. He was going through a divorce, and his wife was fighting for full custody of their two toddler-aged children. He's disabled now and unable to work. He doesn't see his children and has been self-medicating for years. He refused all offers to be taken for treatment. He is basically "lost" now; his addictions will claim him one day.

the line after the bruises are my brother, skin feel like silicone rubber , silicone rubber is often used in make ups for film , and plastic surgery , looks like flesh , moves like flesh but has no feeling , its like being numb . im an sfx dude so have experience , and with depression and its a great analogy .

Yeah Double Dutch is a old rope skipping game that goes back hundreds of years....Dutch immigrants brought it to America in the 1600's.....but it was also used as British slang basically meaning "Gibberish"

FYI "Double Dutch" is British slang for gibberish. The fibinacci sequences imho could either be like you said just a never ending complication or it could be that so much he sees in the world revolves around that golden rule

Reading the words at the beginning makes such a different to this most touching song, it makes one appreciate the depth and magnitude of seeking help at whatever cost. Total respect for doing the reaction in the way you did.

In nature the fibonacci sequences logarithmic spiral shows up almost everywhere. The best example is the nautilus shell and it's chambers that spiral almost perfectly to the logarithmic spiral. It can alse be seen in flowers, hurricanes, pinecones, spiral galaxies in space. It can also be seen in the way tree branches form or split. The main trunk will grow until it produces a branch, which creates two growth points. Then, one of the new stems branches into two, while the other one lies dormant. This pattern of branching is repeated for each of the new stems. Double Dutch requires skill, agility, strength, and it encourages creativity, timing and trying to sing on beat. It's actually an excellent workout for brain health too. RIP JOE Hughes, my family and friends and everyone else in the world lost to suicide.

I was siting and sleeping beside my little sister's bed in 2006 while I tried to protect her...I couldn't and I was in Seattle when she got really sick, by the time I was able to make it back to the family she was already in hospice, and she lit up when I entered the room, we always had a special connection.

I'd recommend letting an artist at least finish a line before pausing. I know you mean well but you killed the flow and emotional build of this very personal song. Listening to a song in a series of cut up and often repeated, 2 second chunks, isn't necessarily the best way to hear/feel a song for the first time. Not every lric has to be paused and repeated, or analysed to death. Especially for a track like this. The meaning, even in the poetic and metaphorical parts, is pretty clear. How anyone can pause during that final section, on a first listen, is beyond me... Letting it run before picking it to pieces, would have been more respectful.

You're missing something. I would recommend you try a few reactions with letting it run through without pausing and let's get out a stop watch and see how quickly YT will either block your video or worse, give you a strike and you lose your channel. You game?
