Anyone who listens to her should never anticipate they know what she will sound like when they hear something new from her. Never happen! Btw, that was Rob Christie on the keys, a several times Grammy Award winner who is working closely with her at Republic Records in Los Angeles. In the video, Rob was wearing something similar to Elvis's back up members of his band, Angelina's hair was in tribute to Priscilla, even the guitar, I believe, could have been one belonging to Elvis. And the arrangement? All Angelina's.

AJ was a 7-year-old genius, and here she is a 16-year-old genius, and now she is an 18year old that is in a lane of her own that no one on earth is capable of entering. Wait till you hear her perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023 at 17, in Oslo, Norway she performed Unchained Melody with the KORK Orchestra, and it was the greatest version I have ever experienced in my 77 orbits around the sun.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. Ken the beehive hairstyle is to honor Priscilla Presley. Many always attribute Angelina's look to Amy Winehouse but that's not the case at all. Elvis and Priscilla Presley have always been a big inspiration in Angelina's life and she had the privilege of meeting Priscilla Presley sometime before she passed. Also the red guitar she is playing is the actual guitar Elvis played in his comeback tour it is owned by Republic Records who she is signed with.

Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery in L.A.) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, Aires and Athena. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to The King!

Nice comment. I have been a fan for many years. Actually this entire video is a tribute to Elvis who is a great role model for Angelina. The hair emulates that of Priscilla Presley. The red guitar and the black leather outfit are Elvis. The black boots when she came in are Elvis. She has also been compared to Amy Winehouse as well. Also Adele and Billie Holiday. The barefoot Queen of 1000 voices. She has slowed this down to a ballad and it's the first time I've ever heard and understood the lyrics of the song.

Angelina released this video when the Elvis movie hit the theaters. The beehive hair is a tribute to Priscilla. Angelina is a huge Elvis fan and back on February 29, 2024, performed 2 shows on the International Stage at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, the same stage Elvis performed on for 7 years. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. On february 29, 2024 she had two concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada,on the Elvis stage. On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. The Hagstrom Red Guitar used in this video is a modern up to date copy of the one Elvis used in 1968, and belongs to Rob Christie, AJ’s A&R rep from Republic Records/Universal Music Group. The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set." Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block. The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000. Now, it has been confirmed that the legendary semi-hollow has been sold for a whopping $625,000, with the proud new owner of the lot managing to outbid six other plucky bidders to get their hands on the prized piece of music memorabilia. That dude playing the piano is AJ’s Dream Team Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Angelina’s sister Juliet sitting there, she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. Very nice reaction: I agree the scenes look very painterly - the director is her granmother Mery who was a famous Iranian artist.... The hair, which you didn't care for, was a tribute to Priscilla Presley I believe. Her voice on this is as beautiful as any I have ever heard. Very glad to hear you will be reacting to more Angelina: look forward to seeing what you think new original songs, such as those from her EP including "Love Don't Let Me Know", the one where you showed a tiny snippet from the music video: I think they are all great songs, as yet nowhere near appreciated enough by the world outside her devoted fans... (though very popular in a few countries such as Romania, Brazil... )

What an absolutely great reaction Ken!!! Really wish you could do more with Angelina, she has so so so much fabulous content available in 10 years of performing. She is not a singer in my opinion, but a master vocalist and musical genius...has been since 7 years old. Really looking for more Angelina on your channel as I am sure the many millions of her fans are...we always appreciate quality, sincere and musicians as yourself opinions. Her use of symbolism in her original video's blows my mind. My favorite in this one is Mery's name in the credits was on the mirror--Angelina, being so close to her is in part a reflection of Mery. You have some great stuff ahead of you. Her Norway concerts were fabulous (she changed "Million Miles" a bit), the Vegas concert was over the top, and her newest song (live by the way) "Bad Valentine" is different yet and maybe the best by her. Kind of strange hearing an original by her when she is the "Bad Guy". James Thiel, BigAngieFan, and Joey Farr have great videos of the Vegas concert as well. Mostly the first 2 for the concert but if you want to see her address her "Angels" Joey Farr has an extended version of the opening song from the first show "Diamonds Are Forever". My favorite is "When We Were Young" from James's channel. Can't drop all the songs (don't type fast enough) so just mentioned a few--her EP, esp the lyrics prove she is an old soul. Subbed and will be looking forward to your reviews in the future.

The hair is from Priscilla Presley, so it fits with the motif of the video. Angelina can hit the Amy Winehouse and Priscilla with one hairdo! Reincarnation is one explanation. The other would be that she is a genius. I tend to think it's the second one.

If you want to hear what she is into now, check out her stuff working with Toby Gad. She sang on an album where he chose younger singers to re-imagine his most successful songs. He selected AJ to sing the song that set Beyonce off, 'If I Were A Boy'. Toby introduced Angelina to a crowd at The Palladium in London as, "15 years ago I had the best singer in the world sing this song, now I have the best singer in the world you haven't heard of yet, to re-imagine my song'. Toby has been so impressed with not just AJ's singing but also her songwriting skill set. So much so that they have started writing together and as a tease they have recorded their first song. It is still in a 'rough' draft, but you will see, actually hear, the possibilities. I get the idea behind the hairdo as an homage to Priscilla, I just didn't like the execution of it. It looked too big and just looked like a thing attached to her head rather than a part of her hair. If they had done it out of her own hair, I would have liked it more.
