She was 18 in this one, the youngest to ever do a Bond theme, also the first time she gave a big belt live. Billie and Finneas won their first Oscar with this song. They have two now, and are the youngest to do so, for the Barbie Song, What was I Made For.

This song is the first one that she truly belted on, and it's just amazing. You should watch the Oscars performance of What Was I Made For from the Barbie movie - her and Finneas' second Oscar winner. Edited: I should have waited until the of the video, as I'd originally suggested here to do When the Party's Over. 💜

This hasn’t even begun yet but I am begging for more Billie. * She also had a cold during this performance * It was written by Billie and FINNEAS ( who also produced it) with orchestration by Hans Zimmer . She is SO much more than the “ breathy” vocals that are really only a part of her vocal style. This was really the first time people have heard Billie belting - and she recently said that up until recently she wasn’t physically able to do it. People don’t realize that a certain amount of physicality that you have to develop in order to belt AND TO DO IT PROPERLY so as not to damage your voice. ( Like dunking in bball. Height alone is not enough.) And Yes, it is perfectly imperfect ( not unlike Ren). Innately talented and musically intuitive. And blessed to have been born to parents who fostered and encouraged them to explore and pursue any/ every creative outlet - homeschooling them both because even at an early age they could tell that a traditional school/ education would have dampened their creative nature rather than nurture it. I won’t bombard you with requests BUT I highly recommend songs off of her first EP “ Don’t Smile At Me “. Billie has a very jazzy tone to her voice, even at 15/16, mature beyond her years. I will , however, recommend the Colors live session of “ idontwannabeyouanymore”. It’s what made me a fan.

she appears here with Hans Zimmer. Finneas produced and wrote it. There is a make-off for the performance, so you can clearly see how big her influence is on everything she does. she won her first Oscar with the song.

They were invited to do a song for the last Bond, but as all the bond movies it was an audition, some artists/bands submit their music and they choose the better one. Hans Zimmer, that was doing the score and music direction for the movie was the one that decided this was the one and had them flight to London to work a week with him in the London studios w an orchestra. He also recorded Billie humming the song so he could used it in the score of the film, and he did use the melody in the score too so he really loved it a lot and was super impressed w them. Billie just turned 18 at the time . Both her and her brother wrote the song btw. This was the first time she performed it live, at the performance was also Hans Zimmer conducting the orchestra (he rarely does this performances shows you how much he believed this song) and at the end the guitarist is Johnny Marr, legendary guitarist from the Smiths. Finneas and Billie won their first Oscar with this music, Billie just turned 20 and he was 24. And btw they won another one last year, you'll probably get there soon enough.

Billie’s song ALL have their own flavour, that’s what makes her so exceptional. Good observation, even with just having seen three. Every single song is like a world unto itself, consistent within itself and yet somehow there’s an overall consistency within the albums AND her entire discography. It’s pretty phenomenal. I’m glad you’re going to be experiencing more, and hope to watch you say many more wows haha

In an interview she said the nails helped her deal with body dysmorphia she felt about her fingers, which she used to deal with by having lots of rings. I’m with you, I don’t really get it. But hey. She also went through a phase of exploring her femininity and I think that tied in as well. To me they’re like non-retractable claws… just really impractical and disproportionate…

That Bond theme was composed by Monty Norman and arranged by John Barry for the film more than 60 years ago. BTW, that's Johnny Marr of the Smith's playing that minor chord on his famous guitar in this performance at the Brits. Billie and Finneas incorporated that Bond musical history while composing this song in a tour bus in a parking garage in El Paso, Texas.

@@ige-individualgroupeffort-kenl Awesome. The hair and the suit+tie and the color of her eyes and of course the light. What a great capture! Anyway, I meant to say before that "When the party's over" was the first Billie vid/song I ever watched/listed to properly. I had assumed she would be sterile pop nonsense for kids. Holy crap, I swear that 3 mins would turn anyone into a fan of her artistry. And she came up with the entire video herself aged barely 16. Literally every frame she pre-filmed in her garden using her mom as a model. Enjoy!
