Maybe my favorite new track from Keep Me Fed by The Warning. Not one bad song in their whole catalog and this cd is no exception. Awesome IMO!

Lyric video by Shan Dan Horan (The Shadow Born Group)
Lyrics
I only ache in the wake of a broken never
There is no thrill in the crime, I have lost the pleasure
Skin on skin means nothing if there is no blood to bleed
Simply quenching hunger doesn’t kill the need
Hands always move on their own, self-inflicted torture
Feel, imitate, stimulate, futuristic horrors
Basking in the glory of our manufactured vice
Fade away to nothing cause now nothing will suffice
And I don’t mean to make you nervous
I’ve been sad but not depressed
Wasting breath waiting for nothing
Cause you won’t apologize
Apologize!
Clean the mess that you made
Own up to the blame
At the end of the day
So easy to say
It’s not your fault now
It’s not your fault now?
Apologize!
Nails on my skin just to check if my heart’s still beating
Head in my hands only I hear the quiet screaming
Shaking turns to crying in my short lived, fake delight
The bitterness of trying haunts me through the night
And I don’t mean to make you nervous
I’ve been sad but not depressed
Lately I’ve been feeling something when I’m high up on my meds
I’m smiling at a screen wearing a name that’s not my own
It’s only in these moments when you truly feel alone
Apologize!
Apologize
Apologize!
Clean the mess that you made
Own up to the blame
At the end of the day
So easy to say
It’s not your fault now
It’s not your fault now?
A name on a screen
Means nothing to me
Hypnotic machine
Your hands are clean
It’s not your fault now
It’s not your fault now?
Apologize!
Clean the mess that you made
Own up to the blame
At the end of the day
So easy to say
It’s not your fault now
It’s not your fault now

I view Keep Me Fed as DPA's first truly adult album. They're not teenagers, much less children, any more. They've grown up and moved on. So has their music.
@dw1784

@EdwardRLyons funny you say that because Ale was 18 during these recordings. Also, in this particular song, Pau said she wrote part of it (and on the piano) when she was 14. But I don't know how involved Ale is in the lyrics. Either way, I find them quite mature for their age. And they rock hard!!! I can't wait to see them in Toronto in October!

You hit the nail on the head. It's new, it's different, it's not their old sound. While I love the old stuff, I love this album. It's still The Warning doing what they do. Making amazing music. Great reaction!

There's some resistance to them reaching out into new directions. If i want to hear their old sound I'll listen to their old stuff. (which i love) It's kind of a shame they're going to leave some fans behind, but i'm into their new sound 100%.

I completely agree. They are steering their own ship and this album is just what they want to do at this moment in their career. Their musical tastes and influences are so wide-ranging that it wouldn't be a surprise if album #5 in a year or so will be different again. KMF was written and recorded between their frequent tours, which explains the shorter song times.

Sorry this is kind of a long reply...Exactly, I Love all of their old stuff even their EP Escape the Mind, This new album is absolutely amazing in every aspect, even if it has some production sound based things happening Its still The Warnings sound, the only thing I hope they never ever, ever use is that stupid autotune crap, too many use it to hide that they can't sing worth shit, and these girls don't need that. The thing I can't stand with some of the people that are turning their backs on the girls is people saying that the producers told the girls they gotta do this and do that, which is not true, they may have suggested things or showed them things that would make a song maybe cooler or something and they were like that's cool let try that. Why would they, when they went viral turn down companies that wanted to work with them and change aspects of who they are as a band, if they're just gonna lie down and let the producer tell them what to do, they turned them down and basically told them companies to F-OFF, because the companies wanted creative control over the girls. And Dany, Pau, and Ale said NO NOT HAPPENING. If they were gonna lie down and be told what to do and what not to do, why did they take 8 months to negotiate their contract with Lava/Republic Records, with the intent on withholding and Maintaining 100% creative control of their Music, and everything else. One other thing that bothers me about those same people is that they say that other producers turned the girls down and Delost was their only option, which is false, in an interview Dany, Pau, and Ale specifically said they approached multiple producers to produce the album, but none of them would agree to their request of recording the album in Monterrey, Mexico, because they didn't want to go to Mexico. And when the girls met and wrote with Anton Delost, they had immediate chemistry and asked him if he would produce the album in Monterrey so they could be home, and he and Dan Lancaster obliged. If those people were true die hard fans they would watch all the interviews and behind the scenes stuff and they would know all of the info that i just stated. instead of coming to these silly untrue conclusions.

You mentioned RUSH growing, experimenting sonically. I think every great band from The Beatles to The Eagles did the same. Creative people can’t help but do this. It’s a constant pursuit of growth as an artist. This album, KMF, is absolutely incredible. It’s LIGHT YEARS beyond even Error.

I so agree with the philosophy of not comparing with previous work. I’m so tired of too pop, too distorted, no depth in lyrics, want the old producer back, new songs all sound alike etc. I am so happy for them to grow as musicians, as writers and as young women. Whether intentional or not, I think this is a declaration of we’re not little girls anymore. Thank you for your reactions and insight!

I love this whole song but especially the prechorus and chorus, it's so unique for them. It seems like they decided to hold off on releasing the most experimental songs until the whole album dropped and I'm glad they did. Burnout and Automatic Sun are pretty experimental as well.

You touched on something which I kind of felt when you mentioned Error and QOTMS, the more I listen to these newly released songs the more I love this album. True, I think QOTMS will be difficult to top on my list but I'm really loving Escapism and Satisfied, this song as well. I was not sold on the short clips, listening to the full song, much different opinion now. After listening closely to this album, I think it is a huge step forward for The Warning. These songs are sophisticated, much more complex than their previous work. Each track is a sonic adventure. But “Keep Me Fed” still rocks, with catchy hooks and deep grooves. It’s a thoughtful album that is still a lot of fun. Album of the Year.

I completely agree with your comments. Their albums have always varied significantly from one to the next. They’re clearly resistant to doing the same thing over and over, which is a good thing. Regarding the different musician credits, the band has always said they’re time in the studio was limited and, like with most albums, the producers likely did some of the extra stuff (electronic sounds, filler guitar parts, etc) as they were finishing up the songs, when the band couldn’t go back to the studio. Very common stuff.

Yes! I've said before that The Warning are, intentionally or not, following the Rush handbook. The have as many songs in 4 albums as Rush did in their 1st 7 and entering Moving Pictures, in roughly the same time frame. As MP was to Rush, I think this is them realizing their sound from now on, still with lots of room to grow. Will this be The Warning's Moving Pictures, or is there a greater album still yet to come? ❤🎉🤘⚡️

Based on the view counts on the just-released lyric videos, Apologize is the most popular. I'm still warming up to it and actually prefer Sharks, which I feel has a more compelling melody line, whereas Apologize has more extreme dynamic and stylistic contrast. The melody just hasn't grabbed me yet. That said, the whole album is fire. Nine charts I can't get enough and three I know will grow on me? No album I've ever heard before, and I go back a lot of decades, had that kind of batting average, although ERROR came close.

I'm loving the songs structure wise and so far this one is tops, but its still hard for me to get over the distortion production wise. The main issue are these songs sound really good with headphones/earbuds but on a main media room system or a top quality car system the distortion just muddys' everything up and the quality really suffers. I've had to go in and totally change up my EQ and amp settings on my car system just to get a deceit sonic sound and no one should never have to do that if the sound production is high quality. No fault to The Warning, I blame the producer and sound mixer for this. BTW I went and listened to other albums Anton has produced and they all have this same low sonic sound quality to them. IMO the drums on all the songs except for Automatic Sun are so far down in the mix that they aren't even noticed until Pau does a fill.

Probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite song on the record after Sharks and maybe Sick. That said, while I like the album overall, I prefer the highs of Error. Of course I don’t want the band to release the same record over and over but I think of bands like Paramore that started strong, peaked on their second album and then slowly slid down in my interest due to the changes in style.
