The bounding is to open up your stride and to help improve your running form by placing the hurdles so that you’re forced to run with better form. The airplane run is mostly to see if your upperbody has a lot of unnecessary motion while you’re running with the goal of reducing that upperbody motion.

You need to review his workouts from the Netflix series Quarterback. They are much more focused on applying strength and movement to the game and injury prevention. That’s the claim anyways. More dynamic movements as well. And there is a squat barbell jump thing in there like you mentioned he needed.

10:32 First time I’ve ever disagreed with Dr.Mike. Obviously I don’t know anything. But Stroup does, and from what I’ve seen and know about football since Pat is a QB he’s trying to make sure Pat is conditioned, durable, and flexible. He doesn’t need to be big, strong, or all that powerful. From what I’ve seen in his training and the would be injuries that Pat has walked away from or played through, and the ways he’s been able to throw off platform, Bobby has succeeded in this goal
@williambrewster15246 ай бұрын
Exactly, he even has a video where he says dudes like Tebow (Who Dr. Mike would say is doing good training) did to much body builder type lifting and it actually hurt their performance.
@theKashConnoisseur6 ай бұрын
@@williambrewster1524 of course a trainer that's decided to focus on hogwash will talk down on more proven methods. He wouldn't be able to sell his snakeoil if he admitted that compound barbell movements were beneficial to performance.
@tiernanastronskas2616 ай бұрын
@@williambrewster1524 Can you define "body builder type lifting?" Do you understand the difference between strength and hypertrophy training? You do realize that compound barbell movements done with the goal of gaining strength are the greatest proven movements to gain strength and overall power. Now you tell me what are two things you want more than anything in the game of football, which i played for 13 years? Strength, and power. You people are straight stupid. Acting like being stronger and faster is going to make being a QB worse.

This is the very definition of good in spite of your coach. PM is so talented and young that just doing anything outside of playing football will work as long as he doesn’t get injured.

Mahomes is skinny fat and is not known for his physical prowess....so I'm note sure I would brag about training him since 4th grade. Seems he became a great QB in spite of you not because of you and your methods...
@kylehackett1626 ай бұрын
What do you know. You don't need to be jacked to be a good QB, clearly. Other coaches know stuff too.
@tiernanastronskas2616 ай бұрын
@@kylehackett162 Thanks for pointing out the obvious, you old dope. Its pretty apparent you don't need to be jacked, or even physically in shape to be a good quarterback, I mean, did you not see Patrick in the entire video? He is far from being in shape, especially for a highly physical sport that is football. That doesn't mean that being in better shape, being stronger, being faster, having more power, wouldnt make him that much better.

What a fucking transition. Btw Bobby Stroupe is from my area of Texas. Patrick is his only real main success story from beginning to end and it helps that he is the son of a 10 year MLB pitcher who was blessed with insane ability. Bobby has been riding that train ever since. So how much of it is the training and how much of it is just God blessed genetics? 80/20 Genetics to training.

Patrick Mahomes played baseball, basketball, and football in high school. He was also a Major League Baseball prospect and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers. He also played a little baseball during his college years. So, he has a great all-round athletic background. He can jump high, run fast, and throw hard. And he can perform any move with power and speed. He is a great athlete because he did not do early specialization as many coaches will try to get their athletes to do.
