this is absolutely golden. Insane how a youtube video can beat all professors at medical school.

This is genius! The explanation becomes so apparent by 1. the way you clearly explain each of the parameters involved with visualisation and 2. the derivation of where the big picture concepts like Arterial = Venous + Urinary & the appearance of substance-devoid volume (which was always there!) when you account for concentration. Hats off to you for showing beauty with your explanation.

I love how you approach teaching. It makes so much sense. I've spent hours trying to understand this concept and here's your 10 min video, so perfectly presented. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us!

Thank you so much for this video, many of the other videos on KZbin don't explain how the clearance rate equation is derived. After listening to your short 10 min explanation I can finally understand without having to simply memorize.

Thank you. I really appreciate this comment because this is how I approach teaching physiology in the classroom: emphasizing understanding physiological processes with minimal memorization.
@RT-or6it2 жыл бұрын
@@PeteMeighan This also makes me wonder whether the majority of medical professionals just learn via rote memorization, or via actually understanding the underlying physical processes.

Can u explain, Some drugs are inhibiting the tubular secretion. At that time what happen to the GFR value [ normal or reduced ]? & baterial growth occur after collecting urine specimen. How to affect the urine creatinineconcentration?
@JC-rv6iq3 жыл бұрын
Can someone explain why concentration of X in plasma in lower than the concentration of X in the urine? How does this work?
@PeteMeighan3 жыл бұрын
Sure! When plasma is filtered into the renal tubules, the concentration of X in the filtrate equals the concentration of X in the plasma (assuming X is freely filtered). During renal processing, most of the water of that filtrate is reabsorbed (moves back to the plasma), leaving X behind in the renal tubules. This enrichment of X in the renal tubules results in a higher urinary concentration of X.
