The 1 to 2nd gear change problem can be easely fixed by installing harder engine mounts (polybush), the engine moves too much with the soft engine mounts when revving it hard. Worked perfectly on my Twingo RS.

@punkoid763 жыл бұрын
It is like a go kart, I had one from new for four years, the last model they made, the Silverstone Cup GP. Loved it, felt very agile and had some power for a tiny car. I bought it because the parking where I live is ridiculous and I always loved hot hatches, traded it in on a VW UP! GTi, though it feels much better built inside and is virtually exactly the same stats wise it lacks something that little RS Twingo had and I can’t put my finger on it.
@joeyoung64292 жыл бұрын
Woukd you recommend it for me as my second car? Or should I go for something bigger?
@JamesRouault2 жыл бұрын
@@joeyoung6429 absolutely mate. It was my 2nd car. Its fun and pretty quick, great community around it, proper first hot hatch. People in the car community also respect you for having one especially at the age we are. If you have lots of friends in it a lot or do a lot of motorway miles it's not the best as it is pretty small and the gearing is short so it'll be about 3krpm in 5th at 70mph. But they've depreciated and are rare so will become a future collectible

Is insurance cheap on the Twingo rs?

Ive got two Renaultsport Twingos and that 2nd gear issue is the synchromesh. Often people leave the gearbox oil in for far too long. It really is not sealed for life. I replace the gearbox oil every 3 years. Replace the gearbox oil with ELF oil and that crunch will go away and will be smooth shifts - as long as the synchromesh is not worn out due to poor quality/worn out oil or lack of oil.

Greetings, my 2008 Polo GTI has the same issue when shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear. It does'nt always do it though. Still, doing this too often can result to some major damage in the second gear. The synchronisation rings is the the cause rumours say in the forums. They have to be supposedly replaced for heavy duty Synchro rings and that should solve the problem. It could be the same on the Twingos aswell I assume. (Reference to 7:25 in the video) Cheers from Germany! :)
