Really really good video! Properly detailed and useful, including the procedures and torques. Don’t normally trust garages but your thoroughness restores my faith! Doing this job on my Vel Satis with a F4RT engine (165hp). Thanks for doing this and great tip on ptfe tape on bolt too!

Excellent video, huge help in getting this job done on my Meg RS250. Thanks for creating and uploading. I also referenced the workshop manual which is fairly easy to find online. It's not an easy job for the home mechanic but it's possible if you take your time and have a second car to drive around. Number one tip is to buy a flex head ratcheting 7 & 8 mm spanner!

Was thinking about changing the Cambelt myself. After watching this im definitely paying the 1200€ at the local renault dealer for a change.

Hi, Great Video thanks - did you use the original Renaut locking tool or an aftermarket one. I hear bad things about the aftermarket ones? Cheers
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
Genuine tool, BUT nothing wrong with aftermarket tools if you use them correctly. The cam bridge are weaker/thinner yes, but you shouldnt ever be putting rotational torque through it as long as your are using the tool that lock's the pulleys when you torque the pulley nuts up.

Excellent video, Matthew. Thanks very much. One question, though. How do you lock the crank to get the accessories pulley off?
@MattAshmoree3 жыл бұрын
apologies, I didn't realise I missed locking the crank, quite important ha - bottom right of the block casting before the sump is a E14 blanking screw, remove that, rotate cylinder 1/4 to TDC, and slide the locking tool in, making sure you cannot rotate the crank in both directions after locking.

Excellent video. Have you done a clutch on these? That'd be a great video
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
Yeah we'll do one shortly, got one in in a couple of weeks. But yeah done probably 20-30 mk2s clutches

Gday mate videos great When will you be doing one of the 225 clutch ?
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
I’ll upload a 250 clutch in the next week, 225 not 100%

I’ve always used genuine tools, but use any tool correctly and it’ll work for you.

Gday Matt, I realy appreciate the clear video. I have a question though, where do you get the service manual for the RS models with procedures and torques for jobs like these ones? Thanks mate!
@cocaantonio3 жыл бұрын
you need a friend at Renault to get those manuals

Hi Matthew. I’ve just had the cambelt replaced on mine. (Garage) I now have *Rev hang *exhaust pop and crackle when take foot off gas *and what I believe is over fuelling. Is the timing off slightly? I’ve already taken it back to be adjusted again as it was misfiring.
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
Yep, sounds like timing mate
@aldoussl80982 жыл бұрын
@@MattAshmoree thanks. Would I be better of going somewhere else to get it done? He’s tried twice and no good. How long would it take for someone to do?
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
@@aldoussl8098 what tools is he using? Has he done an F4R before? Because its easy to see if it's in time or not, but the fact he's tried twice, it may be down to something else? A lot of variables to consider really mate.

Is it a similar procedure on an RS265 except it has a dephaser ?
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
That's correct, better access on them to be honest.
@philfromsalisbury45382 жыл бұрын
@@MattAshmoree what did you use to lock the crank to undo / tighten pulley as the crank locking tool I believe is only to hold crank in place for timing purposes only With a gun runner it can be undone , but torquing with a torque wrench requires it to be locked Thanks
@MattAshmoree2 жыл бұрын
@@philfromsalisbury4538 I've always used to the crank locking tool, it's what it was designed to do

Is this the same for a MK3 RS bar the Dephaser pulley? Great Vid BTW think you should do one for the MK3 so I can follow that lol.. 👍
@MattAshmoree3 жыл бұрын
I did actually film a mk3 vid, but it was pretty damn similar I haven't bothered editing it.

Mk3s can be done nicely without removing bumper though.
@stuartowen67943 жыл бұрын
@@MattAshmoree I have the bumper off anyway to replace my washer bottle. if it's that similar I'll give it a go once my locking tool turns up.. Thanks for replying
