I had a 2006 Renault Clio Sport back in the days. I took it countless trackdays. This car was a giant killer. It's poise and handling dynamics, and reliability are beyond description.

What is astounding is that this scored a time of 7.40.100 and a bugatti veyron 16.4 (From 2005) did the lap in exactly 7.40 that means that a 300hp fwd hatchback did almost the time of an early 2000s mid-engined supercar with 800-1000hp, a lambo murcielago LP 640, merc SLS AMG and a porsche 911 GT3 (997.2) scored the same time as the bugatti. It’s crazy how far front wheel drive hot hatches have come

Engine size is irrelevant in this day and age! What are you going to say when the merc with its f1 1.5 turbo comes along.... But otherwise yes bloody quick, FWD is as quick as any other layout and has big advantages over a 1 lap scenario.

Remember when the Nissan LMP1 had to race without the hybrid system because it didn't work, leaving it with "only" 500hp and FWD? Well, they were about as fast as the fastest lmp2 cars despite being lighter, more powerful and having more aero

Tu prépare la Civic de la même façon que la Megane, tu lui rajoute 15000 euros de Matos, freins, suspensions, échappement etc et je ne suis pas sûr que Renault reste premier. Mais bon ça reste une bonne pistarde, elle l'a toujours été, mais faut comparer ce qui est comparable. Là ça ne sert à rien.

@@saeba0277 c'est pas de la mauvaise foi mais tu va nous dire que la type R elle est pas préparée...!! Comme si la type R avait un train avant et un amortissement de civic diesel et un freinage de civic 1.6 vti... Niveau aero, freinage, train avant etc tout le monde nous a sorti que Honda avait mis le paquet, il faut reconnaître que Renault a fait mieux, après certes il n'y a pas de sièges à l'arrière et la trophy R fait 135kg de moins que la trophy "normale" mais on va dire que c'est égal vu la puissance inférieure de celle-ci !! Et série limitée vaut mieux pour Renault (Jantes Carbone sûrement hors de prix, baquets directement issus de la compétition et j'en passe) Il s'agissait d'avoir le record sur le Ring, et Renault a repris le record

Le record de la Civic Type R n’est pas réellement de 7’43 car elle n’était pas avec pneus d’origines et elle était monté avec un arceau non présent lors de la vente du véhicule donc je pense qu’elle ferait a peine mieux que la Megane 3 RS trophy R.

@@KeptiKronikaz on s'en branle, pneus ou pas, je table sur un 60k euros vu le matos. déjà vu les disques ça semble du céramique. ce qui est complètement ridicule pour une caisse de 300cv. il y de l'ohlins, donc encore un gros billet. t'as de l'akra donc encore un autre. etc. alors ouais c'est sympa sur le papier, ça fait chéros les secondes. ils auraient mieux fait de foutre des amortos pilotés. un chrono m'est égal j'achète pas une caisse pour ça. par contre, de là à dire que la civic ferrait à peine mieux que la mégane 3 c'est de la pipe. elle était plus récente, plus puissante, basta. maintenant je pense qu'une 'trophy' lambda, se hisse au niveau de la civic, la type R c'est beau, ça brille, mais c'est hors de prix pour une traction. on en reparlera du prix. moi je le sens comme ça. suffit de voir l'ancienne génération. on était déjà sur du 45k. là c'est même pas le prix d'une trophy 4.

LOL ILOL Alors Je suis d’accord avec toi sur le prix, ça va être cher, inabordable pour beaucoup d’entre nous, mais sérieux faut savoir se contenter des bonnes choses pour Renault sport. Il y a une clientèle sur les vehicules RS de collection comme ça donc Je pense qu’ils n’auront aucun mal à liquider leurs stocks. Ça donne une bonne image de Renault sport car ils prouvent leur savoir faire en soulignant leur temps sur le Nurb. Mais J’aime pas cette volonté de toujours descendre Renault Sport quoi qu’ils fassent. Moi Je suis content en tout cas que RS reprenne son trône, Je n’aurai pas l’argent de me la payer mais je m’en fiche Je suis fier quand même.

@@Manurs30 forcément je pense que quand on aura le prix des options, ça peut être 'monstrueux'.............. déjà les jantes carbones, ça risque d'en faire pleurer plus d'un.. parceque quand tu vois que ford facture 13k l'option sur sa gt350r. je parle pas des disques céramiques ni des ohlins, ni de la ligne akra. alors ouais c'est un beau truc sur le papier. mais qui roulera avec... personne c'est triste. les seuls qui vont l'achetés c'est pour spéculer comme l'ancienne trophy R, t'as 2 pélos qui ont pistés avec et basta, les autres sont dans le garage. c'est le soucis de ces autos. et j'ai une mégane 3 rs. mais je trouve que ça devient un peu ridicule ces séries limités à 60-70k euros. parce que là ouais on sera pas à 55k euros la mégane. quand tu vois que la trophy avec le malus sort déjà à 50k+ non remisé. il est loin le temps des sportives abordables. on part dans des autos de généralistes à des prix qui se rapprochent de plus en plus du premium. pour 60k JAMAIS je n'achèterai une mégane, même si j'aime la mienne, au grand jamais, il y à un tas d'm3 d'occasion, avec un coût d'entretien qui se rapproche dangereusement des meg 4.

Et oui, Renault c'est Renault, on peut leur reprocher des plastiques pourris, des moteurs fiables 1 fois sur 2 mais niveau comportement routier... Quand tu vois des clio rs et megane rs taloner voir poutrer des porsche et des amg... Beh faut reconnaître que oui, c'est des monstres

@@mayk3lll Honda had no rear seats, no infotainment, roll cage and unknown tyres (probably the fastest street legal tyres unusable on normal roads). Renault has beaten the record with the same exact spec you get from the dealership.

arekb5 fair enough but I wouldn’t exactly call it cheating. Honda did take out bits and pieces due to the weight of the roll cage.. if you ask me that’s just providing driver safety.. if anything it may work against the car having more weight added up high. As for tires I don’t see either one listing what they used but you’re right probably the best road legal tire you can use. Overall performance the Megane was better.. so much more stability and way less understeer.. obviously quicker too and as you say from a 1.8L. Probably all due to its weight

@@mayk3lll Afaik Renault listed the tyres in their press release, Wiki says they were Potenzas S007, so the ones it's sold on. As for Honda, for some people it's cheating, for some it's not, Lambo did the same and it always will be an argument that undermines fairness of the attempt because their competitor Porsche didn't do it.

You can see the timer start at 0:11 right after the orange barrier on the right. The lap ends and time is set on the exit of the corner before that. This is the shorter (20.6km) config.

Went back to see the CTR lap, was in 2017. Took Renault 2 years to beat it. Still think the Honda engine sounds better than the megane's but credit given. That was a good looking car on a good time. Cheers!
